Ranger or Chanter?

Hi, I just resub on Aion and I wanted to make a new character. I'm just in between this 2 classes, Ranger or Chanter. Which class is good at soloing PvE? Because sometimes I'd rather go solo because I AFK sometimes especially when I'm at work playing, or at school.

neither of those 2 clases can be played afk :)

having sed that the ranger is extrememly good a soloing almost anything as long as you like to kite. i'v seen rangers soloing elites 5+ level higher then them. rangers, SM and sorceres are the best soloing classes since they can keep their target at a distance the whole fight and never get damaged.

Chanter is much harder to play solo since you have to go toe to toe with your opponent and you can't take much damage. you also dont have great heals. you are basicly a high dps, low armored, close ranged fighter with some medium heals and great party buffs. so forget about soloing elites. you will be welcome in groups since chanters  are hard to find and everyone likes their buffs. i'd say play a chanter if you like grouping. they are the least played class mostly because they are extremely hard to play succesfully in pvp. why? because they have to get close to do damage but if they do they get killed super fast since they have no armor.

for solo play ranger all the way.

What I meant about AFKing is that I'd rather play solo because if I afk a lot in groups then I would mess up other players. I just group when I'm at home playing because I can focus more.

I think I'd go with Chanter then because I can be a group character(when im at home) and a mid-solo pve class. The factor also be that Rangers have more downtime than Chanters while soloing right? You need to sit to regen your HP/MP or use pots(costly) while Chanter has MP Regen and can use Heal so less downtime.

Since I play both classes I can answer this.  Ranger for lower to mid levels but chanter is better at 43+ once they get recovery spell.  Chanter class doesnt come out of its shell until later in the game whereas ranger is good much earlier.

    Ok, thanks for the advice.

EDIT: I'll go for Chanter then.

    Good choice

Chanter whilst not a elite killing machine is a normal mob beast especially post 43 if you have downtime with a chanter then your playing it wrong.

I have a 55 chanter and tbh they are a blast to play solo due to the above and are great in groups as they offer so much utility so every dungeon is different for us sometimes your nothing but a buffing dps other times a off healer and hell I've even seen me be a dedicated healer when no clerics where available.

A well played chanter DPS specced stigma's can also be a absolute monster in PVP.
