If anyone is thinking of playing this game, look at the title of this thread.
-Us gamers have been having it stuck to us over the past years having to pay to beta test these companies games.
The amount of garbage that game companies now release onto the market now is tragic.
But this release is criminal. They honestly owe people their money's back. Heaven knows if they will maintain a solid fan base after this. I was a hardcore SE fan, but this I can't ignore. I would rather a homeless guy have mugged me for $85 because at least I know that a starving guy would have some money to get food or whatnot with.
But this is just criminal. This is the worst MMO of all time and I think its time that we gamers help SE to a little accountability.
I have been boycotting all other SE games since I bought the CE of FFXIV.
I would urge everyone to do the same. Some people in this world have to work for their money and stealing is not right.
If I sold someone rotten food, I would give them their money back because they did not get to have the intended use of it.
The same should be applied to this game. Its simply an un-playable heap of garbage.
Boycott SE until they issue refunds, which means forever, because you all know that keeping their fans happy has no priority within their company.
Comments
While many others, including professional reviewers, would concur to your views regarding FFXIV your theory of boycotting SE may very well be a foregone conclusion. The population will bury this game in time but even APB deserved a shot, thus, this game does too. I have to admit, the AAA games recentlly coming out do appear a bit...unfinished and all we can hope for is that companies have learned by the actions of others....figure the odds.
I agree.
I think they went to far in almost every way imaginable with this "game". I also think people should be getting their money back and an official apology should be issued instead of using the players "box payment" money to develop the actual game. People basically paid to be part of an alpha test and it wasn't advertised as that. The fact they asked reviews to be delayed to prevent people from hearing the truth about it should be criminal. You could actually see this coming throughout the beta and I don't think these folks are that stupid to release a game in this manner without projections of what they would get out of it. No way to prove it though unfortunately. Needless to say they will never see a dime from me and my family/friends again.
I have not spent money on FF14, the betas were enough.

"The worst part of censorship is ------------------"
Well, beta was a good indication what this game was going to be like. Hence I did not spend money on it. The truth is that if you bought this, only one you have to blame is yourself. Information was available.

I think the funniest thing about FFXIV is that it reminds people of how great the company used to be.
I cant even count the number of people who said FFXI did this better...then went back and played that instead.
Or the people that said, oh I remember FF(Number) and went and bought it...
So, while this game may be horrid, I'm sure it's creating a surge in their back catalog sales.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
ill pirate their next 2 games to make up for the 60€ i paid.
lolwut? Criminal? Really??
Was someone holding a gun to your head when you bought the CE? Didn’t think so. Was there no > 2 week Open Beta just prior to launch to get a very good idea of what the game was like, but still leaving time to cancel preorders? Oh wait, there was.
You may not like the game, and that is fine. Heck, when I stop having fun I'll quit too. But calling what they did criminal? That's quite an accusation there.
Just saying.
pie.
No one told you to buy the game... So who's fault is it?
lol ... ya pays ya money ... ya take ya chances ..
lol love these type of threads:
"QQ boycott X company because I don't like the game"
How is the game even unplayable? you couldn't install it? couldn't enter any server? couldn't play it?
Tell me how it's unplayable? boring for some people maybe but unplayable?
There was a beta and many decided to not try it based on it some decided to try it and servers are still filled with people (Apart of maybe 2 which are half filled) sooo please don't exaggerate on your hate towards SE spouting lies won't help you get fellows to boycott.
Perhaps unplayable because of the excessive lag in addition to the UI being abyssmal even compaired to FFXI?
I didn't see him say anything that was an out right lie, the game was unfinished at launch and it still is now, SE admits to it. They even admited their game had problems in the letter they sent out to extend everyones free month another month. "Due to the state of the game"
That means the game is bad, and they know it. He didn't lie.
Well... while I'd agree that it's not likely anyone forced him to buy the game, I'd have to disagree with saying "No one told you to buy the game... ". Plenty of fans have been telling people to ignore the reviews and ignore the "haters" and telling them to buy the game because people just don't know what they are talking about. They either aren't sophisticated enough (Some have sadly tried to say this lol) or they simply aren't fans of the FF series or they just are haters and trolls. Fans have given many reasons why people should simply ignore the negativity that surrounds FFXIV and buy it anyways.
So while it's likely true no one forced him to buy the game. Plenty of fans told him to buy it. Which of course... lead to another "Hater" lol.
I and many others don't have this unplayable lag your speaking about so it's not like everyone having laggy game (UI lag sometimes yes but you can still fight normally) it's mostly on your pc/laptop or drivers sorry but my pc is not a high end one but I can run it fine nearly full.
Ok not lying if you say so but he does exaggerate like worst mmo ever, piece of garbage, unplayable, stealing him money!!!! so what about that?
Opinions I know but it's not like everyone agrees with him since the servers are always busy regardless of him playing or not.
Buahaha this is too funny.
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
I came into FFXIV really stoked. I read the reviews & kept up with mmorpg & core's threads since the announcement.
My last year I spent with FFXI I couldn't help but talk with my linkshell about how awesome a remake would be to bring the game up to date. XI was awesome! But it was slow, old, and infested with RMT traps. The soul of the game was quality. The first time I saw the classes and concept for XIV, I was stoked. It couldn't have been more clear that they were copy & pasting what they liked from XI to create a next gen MMO.
I was piss wrong.
They copy & pasted what was easiest, took a half hearted attempt at implementing some new concepts, and released a turd to the market the likes of which Randy Marsh would be proud of. I'm 32. I've played pretty much every MMO that's came out in the last decade. I've seen the good and the bad. Many releases are similar in nature to this one, but this is different. They should know better. SE has a massive following, and this is their 2nd time through the trenches. They should know what they're up against with WoW, and they ought to have a clue what the player base expects.
Even my most hardcore SE supporting friends that I'm playing with now on XIV are debating continuing through the extended free trial. Everyone wants to drop and wait until they fix their shit. (I dont need to define "shit." You've been reading the forums & should know all the issues with the game by now.)
It's not that we're all just pissed off at UI lag & poor development of new concepts. The loyal fanbase feels betrayed because they're developing on our coin. The argument that they had to release the game because we were demanding it gets nowhere with me. We're fans & we demand everything.. Get your shit together! Didn't they get enough out of us when we all bought X, Xii, & Xiii? Lord knows they made their money with us all shelling out 4 years worth of subscription to Xi!
They have lost supporters over this one, and they'll lose more once GW2 & Cataclysm are released. They did just about everything wrong with XIV, and a considerable portion of us aren't going to wait the year it's gonna take for XIV to get on the right track.
People bitch at WoW, but I'll say this for that game: I can run or jump anywhere I want to in any zone. I have full freedom to explore anyplace I can get to. Any mod that improves the game in the fashion I see fit is available and legal for me to download, and if it's not, I am cleared to create it myself. It's the most freedom I've felt in any game I've ever played, and that aspect of the game is not mentioned enough. EVERY SE game I've ever bought, and I've bought them all, makes me feel cramped or trapped in spots. I have to adhere to their interface, which usually doesn't suit me, and frankly... I'm sick of getting stuck trying to get around corners.
I'll not be supporting anymore SE releases.
num num
I think he's talking about the horrible UI lag in which case, it's the same for everyone since it has nothing to do with your computer. 5-10 seconds for EVERY action involving the UI outside of combat. I'd say that's pretty gamebreaking.
I don't have 5-10 seconds delay maybe 1-2 seconds rarely but 5-10 seconds really?
[Edit]
Ah yes selling items well it's not delay that is like SE made it. Selling an item 1 by 1 will obviously be slower then being able to sell many things together or without a window showing only 1 item at a time.
Yes it's slow but what can you/I do? I won't stop playing a GAME because it takes me more then a minute to sell my stuff.
haha....boycott....pfft
Didn't you play the beta?
Sure I don't care for the game....but it's not like this is the first 70 bucks I've wasted on a game...^^
SE will fix this game....it'll take a few years. I'll be playing GW2 by then. All I wanted from ffxiv was a game to waste time playing till GW2 was launched. So I could waste time in a different game...hah. That's ok...I'll find a game to play for the next few months till GW is released
FFXIV isn't that bad eh....I just don't like it. I didn't play at all yesterday. I had no desire to log on. That's how I gauge a game. If I can't wait to log back on it's a good game, if I'm like "oh yeah...I forgot to play yesterday" then that game isn't for me. There's a ton of ppl playing IV. Just try to create a char on Figaro...it's full. So don't think everyone hates the game.
The LS chat ingame is all about materials for crafting....when it's not it's about how they're hanging in there. They also know the game needs work, but they're willing to wait. I'd be will to wait too, but I can't get past a few things about the game. Mainly no AH. Selling stuff other ways isn't my style. So now I sell everything to the npcs, and that gets frustrating too. So many clicks, too many for me. So I"m out. But that's just me. Lots of ppl enjoy IV. So I don't think a boycott is gonna make it...lol.

If a man speaks in the woods and there's no woman there to hear him...is he still lying?
Not buying Front Mission Evolved isn't going to send a message. It's just going to say "People didn't buy FME."
Also, worst MMO ever? I can understand if you said "Most disappointing" perhaps - people were very excited. But worst ever? If we include every MMO out there, it's not even top (bottom?) 100.
If we restrict it to just AAA titles, I'm still pretty sure it's not the worst one out there.
Who am I?
@Lorechaser on CoH
Badjuju, Splinterhoof, Plainsrunner on WoW (Moonrunner)
Shyy'rissk on SWG (Flurry)
ClockworkSoldier, HE Pierce, Letnev on Planetside
Gyshe, Crucible, Terrakal on DDO
And many more.
It pretty much remains the same for crafting, or pretty much everything outside of combat. It doesn't help that you have to confirm everything like 5 times before the game lets you continue.
Please select your items one-by-one out of your un-sortable inventory while fighting UI lag.
Please select main hand or off hand.
Which item would you like to craft?
Are you sure?
Are you really really sure?
Positive?
Okay, you can craft now.
Seriously, whoever came up with the ridiculously overburdened menus needs to rethink his career as a designer. Did they not have internal play testers? I simply can't imagine anyone thinking the UI and the lag associated with it was okay. Evertime I think about the state of the game, my mind melts; it baffles me how they could let this game out the door as is.
Easily the post of the day and it echoes the sentiments of many of us across the world. I am in my late 20's and have supported SE all my life, and even though 13 was one of the worst rpg's i've ever played I wanted to have faith in SE and give them another chance with 14. So, I foolishly ignored all the beta critics knowing that every game has critics (and the fact I had just left APB, I figured it couldn't get worse... whoops) and bought the game. I have a brand new pc with an i7, nvidia 480x and tons of power and had no problems with the games install or graphics... it just sucks to play. It isn't any fun and feels like a product that would be released in 1996. I craved to play the shitstorm that was APB before i'd spend another hour in FF snoozefest 14.
I literally have played MUDs programmed by 1 person that felt more complete and full than this steaming pile of monkey crap. SE should be ashamed of themselves and will never get a dime from myself, my family, or hopefully my friends again (although i can't control them, i doubt they'd be interested in muff cabbage like SE is making lately). SE, if you would issue mass refunds that would be the only thing that would save your image with many like myself. I want a full refund for FF14 and an apology for releasing such a poor piece of monkey crap. SE is a company that has been in gaming for almost 20 yrs, no need for them to release an MMO that is in worse shape then Mortal Online at launch. Pitiful SE, and good luck reclaiming your lost fans LOL. SE is a dying star and I've come to terms with it with FF14.
No need for me to boycott anything because it was rather clear the condition this game was in long before launch day. For better or worse, the writing was on the wall for people.
I don't blame some for feeling disappointed but on the same token I don't pity them either. I'll bide my time and maybe purchase the game when I feel it is worth trying out or purchasing. Until then I'll simply keep an eye out to see what transpires and what happens with the game in general.
I will say that for whatever reason SE really dropped the ball on this launch. I don't know if it was for budgetary reasons, misguided intentions, or they simply didn't care because their main focus is the PS3 launch. Regardless, they seriously borked this launch and considering the company I have to admit it is a bit surprising and disappointing.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
If someone is dumb enough to beta a game when they really should be paid for it instead it is their problem.
And you can't force the company to pay you back just because you didn't like the game, if it were like that no one would make computer games anymore and we wouldn't have anything to play.
* Never pre order a game.
* Always check out reviews before ordering something.
* Read as much as possible about the game before deciding anything.
Do these 3 things and you will rarely lose any money. Anything else is your own fault, no one forces you to buy anything.
As for SE bad games sell badly and if you make enough no one will buy your game even if they become good again. They have lost a lot quality since FF VII and if they don't get better they will close down sooner or later, a boycot is not needed.
Over the past few years, pretty much anything published by SE these days outside of their main franchises (DQ, FF) has been garbage. FFXIII was average at best (the combat system made up for the rest of the game's failings) and FFXIV is just complete and total trash. The game feels like bad joke.
HONESTLY, I don't think I've ever has such a miserable, non-compelling experience in any game I've ever played. FFXIV is an absolute chore, and I've not taken away anything positive from the experience.
SE higher-ups should be bitch-slapped for bringing this 'AAA' monstrosity to the MMO genre.
