Hey all...
So, in regards to MMOs lately, I've been feeling a bit like a man without a land, and checking out the MMO list for something that might catch my interest. Preferably something I haven't played at all, or at least very much.
Saw Age of Conan and thought, "there's a MMO I haven't really given much of a try since back around its launch". Giving it a look-over to see how it's doing overall, it looks like FC's made some nice additions to it, and so I'm giving it another go. On a better system this time around than I was last time, too, so that certainly helps.
So, since I've also been wanting a bit of a PvP fix, I've rolled a character on the regular (that is, not the RP) PvP server (whose name escapes me at the moment). I'm still in Tortage, having just made my way through the gates prior to logging out for a bit.
Made an Aguilonian Conqueror (believe I didn't butcher that too badly), 'cause I'm a sucker for dual-wielding and they can dual-wield :-p. Might try an assassin type, though... we'll see. Conquerer seems fun enough for the moment.
I'm gonna give this a good go and see how it pans out. If it looks like I'm enjoying myself come later this week, I'll be activating a full account.
As the social aspect of MMOs is key to me, a big help toward keeping me will be finding a good guild to join. My playstyle could be described as "hardcore casual", I guess. That is, I play a lot but am not like super "OMG must level as quickly as possible". I tend to keep a pretty laid-back pace, do what interests me and I find enjoyable. I'm usually the slowest leveler among others I know, in any game I play. I'm very much about enjoying the journey, not reaching the destination.
I'm not a moocher or someone who's always asking for stuff. I'm one of those militant "earn it yourself-ers" who believes in working for everything I have in a game. Advice, however, is always welcome.
If there's anyone here in a guild of cool, laid back and generally decent folks who are recruiting, please let me know via private message here on the forums. Since I can't send /tells in trial mode (which I'm still in) I'd have to communicate with ya here, at least 'til I get into a guild.
Thanks!

I feel a duty of warning you that PvP servers in AoC are pretty hard if you don`t really love to fight others. I played a PvP Server when I tried WOW at launch, and it was pretty soft compared to the action in AoC and the hunting down people do to others, so just be aware of this.
Otherwise, check the server forum for guilds, and mention what server you play on here, NA or EU server also, maybe some can help you.
Appreciate the warning. I'm fine with a harsher environment. The PvP servers in WoW were always a bit ridiculous to me.. no individual accountability for PK'ers since they could corpse camp someone 'til help showed up for their target. Then they'd just retreat back to faction-friendly areas and be essentially untouchable... unless you happened to bump into them again. Never liked that setup, at least in world PvP.
I'm something of an "all or nothing" type of person when it comes to stuff like that. If you're going to go with PvP,go big. If you're making a game with a focus on PvP, go all out. If you're going for PvE, go all out. Lineage 2 is still my favorite all-time PvP MMO; every aspect of the game, in some way, whether directly or indirectly, influenced or was influenced by competition with other players. I really liked that and haven't quite played a MMO yet that pulls it off to the extent that L2 does. There's also individual accountability in L2; you can't gank people freely and flee to the safety of "friendly territory". Outside of towns and cities, there are no safe areas in L2. Sad that game is losing popularity so quickly here in the Western market.
Anyway... my point is, I'm fine on a PvP server .
Now, should I find the way PvP is setup in AoC makes it kinda lame (easily exploitable or abused, etc), then I may change my opinion. But I'll give it a go.
Also I'm on the NA side.

So... *after* posting this thread, I noticed that there's a section specifically for guilds lol.
I'm so used to just clicking on the first item for a game's forums (General Discussion), that I never bother to see what the ones below it are...
Sooo... I'll take my request there..
