Hi,
is there a social network for gamers and MMO-players? Like facebook, but for games and gamers?
Most people use facebook with their real names and real life contacts. But there are valid reasons that You don't want to use Your real name facebook account to connect with gamers and guildmates.
Over time You have also played different games and would like to stay in contact with old guildmates and players from previous games. So there should be a function where You can register Your gaming names and write a profile about past games, manage guilds, etc.
Does something exist, any recommendation?

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

they made some changes that kinda killed that site, like putting the forum link at the very bottom of the page when it used to be at the top and then refusing to put it back.

I had a look at them, but sadly they dont look overly popular or active?
Would actually be pretty awesome honestly to have a MAIN gamer "facebook" where all gamers around the world would actually go and connect.
Would be pretty good, you know those little "facebook" games like farmville etc wat suck, the site could host those F2P browser games that would be i guess semi good.
So many possibilities honestly - be like the hub for all gaming from all over the world. Add features like join friend in his MPer game or shortcuts, special trials and giveaways.
Anything that is out there like that? Well..popular? lol. Coz at the moment seems gamerdna is around 400k people, but how many are active though ?
This is one reason I don't bother with Facebook. I don't want my whoring ways and substance abuse to be public notice. Don't you just hate it when somebody tags you in a picture where you're doing a line off a stripper's left butt cheek? Just think of all the things my employer would think.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Just found this one - http://www.playfire.com/a/welcome
and
http://www.gamersbook.com/
Apparently these two are fairly new and growing fast!
Thanks for Your replies! Yes, this kind of websites I'm looking for! Interesting websites You found!
I did some googling myself and found the following sites:
MMOPeople
MMONation
Gamefriends
Difficult now to make a decision...all of these sites have some pros and cons...

I actually joined up on http://www.gamersbook.com/ - they opened up a couple days ago. Already 2k people joined up, seems to be growing fast. Lots of nice people i have met aswell - the devs are social aswell what is great and taking suggestions and talking to regular members all the time!
Otherwise i liked gamerdna aswell, think around 400k people so far on that one, dont know how long its been out. But didnt like the layout for some reason even though its not bad.
All in all choose one that you fit in personally, or join them all, try them out and see how you go!
Good luck!
Search for xenoclix on gamersbook if you want to add me i guess to lol.
Will have a look at these, thanks!
Any one else use one of these and has a recommendation?

The irony is I've just come accross this thread now.
And although its not been active in a while I might as well post here just in case.
I'm actually helping set up a beta website with just the sole reason of doing what you said, but the fact is I really really need beta testers to basically come have a look at the website and see how it can be improved.
The website is called Gamesona, and you can find the website at gamesona.com and if you could come online and beta it for me, and if you bring friends then EVEN better. I'd be like... ridicuously grateful.
If allows you to create as many characters as you want, while also allowing you to have a Real life profile.
EIther way, if you could help out and you are interested I'd be grateful. So feel free to check out the website www.gamesona.com/beta
