For the ones that have played both, your favorite is Ultima Online or runescape?

Your not a fan of MMOs if you think Runescape was a better game overall than Ultima Online.

UO is simply a more advanced and better put together experience overall than Runescape.

Even now when both games are shadows of their former selves UO is vastly superior.

How exactly is UO vastly superior considering runescape has over a million subs while UO has what 10k?

Im surprised at you Gabby. You've been around and about long enough to know Sub amount and popularity dont equal quality.

Im kinda disappointed by your post...

Look at the games features, UO was way ahead of its time...

here I thought you might come back with something interesting. maybe bring up key features that would lead to a discussion. Yet you bring up something as shallow as Sub numbers... comeon the god damn game counts registered accounts since its partially F2p...

I apologize, I'm kind of a fanboy for runescape...guess everyone kind of is for their first game. I frankly don't know if UO is better or not, while people were playing UO I wasn't into the whole MMO genre and only got started when runescape began but I know where your coming from because I know the type of game it was after having read numeorus posts but they also pointed out what it has become.

That was the key point as runescape still manages to keep a big player base (Btw no it isn't 1mil registered accounts, they have over 100mil of those but actual paying subs was 1.5mil last time they announced it about 2-3 years ago from what I was told) and in my opinion it still is a greater game even though now its more or so catered towards a younger audience but still is the same at its core while UO changed.

I can't write anything fancy but to me runescape is just better, it just had a great feel to it which pulled me into the genre. They might have different features, one may have more and better ones but thats not what makes a game, the feeling you get when playing the game is.

Why are we even having this conversation, sounds honestly like troll territory to me, and of course Its UO that is the better game.

I understand but a simple question?  Why say Runescape if you can't truly compare games both games if have never play UO.

You know what's funny I think everyones first MMO is because it's where their "favorite" learn the "lingo", learn acronyms, I think people lean towards learning as well.  Imagine all the people you could train(sorry for derailing no pun intended).   But perhaps left for another post.

I didn't play Runescape, but my son and his buddy played both. They both said UO was the far better game.

For me, when I play a character I expect to feel like I'm that character. Runescape's point and click for pathfinding, and lack of ability to "run your character around" just was too much of a hurdle to even try it out. I simply hate that movement mode in an MMORPG.

    Once upon a time....

I guess RuneScape would technically be the better of the two, since I played that more than UO, but from a game play standpoint, UO is better in my opinion.

... Buuuuut, since these games are so different from a theoretical game play standpoint, it's like apples and oranges in my mind, since RuneScape is like riding a tricycle and playing UO is like riding a chessboard... Into space.

I would have to go with UO
