Are you for or against a licensed Pokemon MMORPG?

p.s. it makes me lol that I get a red line under MMORPG at MMORPG.com

One of the largest community Pokemon MMos I can think of is Pokemon World Online. It plays like the original games from Gameboy but with other players walking around, a bit crowded with players if you ask me. Yes, I have played it. I love Pikachu.

There's a version of Pokemon based off the gameboy games that is online with other players.  I haven't played it for more than 2 seconds so I can't tell you much about it.  It's at http://pokemoncraft.com

That links to the FAQs on how to register on Pokemon World Online. It's pretty simple and just requires s small form to be completed, by clicking 'Register' on the top toolbar. After doing so you need to verify your email address and then download the client.

PokemonCraft is best of all browser based Pokemon MMORPGs. But Pokemon World Online is better since it is client based and it requires download. PokemonCraft do not requires anything. You just fill the registration form and instantly start playing. It does not even requires email activation

you can check PokemonCraft game play screenshots from here :

As people said there are several smaller games. But there is a reason no one have made a AAA game in the world, the IP would make it hard to get adult players and Pokemon doesn't have the popularity with kids it once had.

If a AAA pet MMO will come out I see it more likely to be based on Magic the gathering, the potential to get players of all ages is a lot better for that. Also do I think it would be easier to make a good one, rumors say that SOE have some kind of license there.

Anyways, a AAA MMO cost the least 60 million dollars to make, often more. I have my doubts that someone would dare that much money on Pokemon but I can be wrong.

Pokemon doesnt have the popularity it once had??? did i read that right? pokemon sells like hot cakes everytime a new version comes out, heck its practically the same game each iteration yet it still selss more than anything else. I assure you, whether possible or not to mke, pokemon online would have more subscribers than wow.

A few years ago it was larger, then every kid watched the animated show and they even sold candy at my small local store....

I don't believe the least that a Pokemon game would have more subscribers than Wow and if anyone high on a game company thought that we would already have the game.

Magic the gathering sells more cards than Pokemon (yeah it does even if both Pokemon and Yugi Oh sells fine as well, my buddy have a game store) and therefor making it a MMO makes more sense.

same argument can be used for games, magic the gathering game would not sell aswell as a pokemon game. we dont have pokemon online because of nintendo's strict policies on online gaming hence the restrictions the wii has for example with friends code's etc, not because nobody thinks it would be profitable or not. subscribers in japan alone would make it an extremely profitable game on box sales alone let alone subs. i also think it would be extremely hard to make an mmo out of it, what would crafting be, custamisation etc, i think that also plays a part in why we dont have an mmo version.

I agree with the crafting concern, but they have licensed the game to several smaller games already so I don't think Nintendo is the main problem.

I just don't think that the world would be good for a MMO. Magics plainwalker system with artifacts (meaning crafting) and so on would be a lot easier for a MMO.

And yes, Pokemon is huge in Japan and have been so since the beginning. But it was really more popular in the west before, the one thing in common between them is that both Wow and Pokemon have a south park episode about them, but there are few years between them,
