First of all thanks MMORPG.com for the contest and getting me in.
Secondly full disclosure; I wasn't in the know about this game until literally days ago. I heard about it. Saw some articles and wasn't overly impressed.
MY QUESTION TO YOU GUYS WHO HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING MORE, but didn't make it in to beta:
What should I look forward to in this game?
Why did you start following it in the first place?
Comments
Never mind. I misunderstood.
I think I'm excited because everything points towards this game being a polished experience rich with content, that seems like a simple thing but it's something many MMO's lack at launch (and we're only in beta).
Otherwise, there are some interesting concepts with the invasions and rifts; I'm not too sure how that will turn out but it'll be interesting to see it in action;
The flexible soul system is something that I like to hear and it seems in line with the direction new games are going.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
I've never been one to follow a "standard build" for a given class, so the level of custimization via souls really caught my attention. I'm also kind of excited about the effect the dynamic rifts will have.
I'm really hoping that this is the game to play while I wait for SWTOR or GW2
Yeah... these are the two things that are more interesting to me. I think the challenge with the soulsystem is going to be allowing folks flexibility but keeping everyone from becoming swissarmy knives...
Game looks good from all the previews!
All time classic MY NEW FAVORITE POST! (Keep laying those bricks)

/rage.
Still no VIP code here and i've been following the game for 7 months.
Congrats on either having a forum bot or being extremely lucky. First you may want to read the NDA, because like most I believe that if you even tell people you are in the beta, it is in breach of the NDA.
What you should look forward to in game is the everything done right in the last 10 years of MMO wrapped in a brand new package with some new features. Mainly you should just have fun and of course report anything error wise you find.
I started following rift before its official announcement. I heard a couple of speeches done by the CEO Lars Buttler and really fell in love with their vision and drive. He understands that MMO's are an investor's dream and went out and found media partners to make groundbreaking mmo's.
cant wait :-)
There is no nda yet untill you get a beta email if u have a vip key u are in so kinda contradicts itself cause the email you get has the nda but some vipers havent gotten that email yet so they are free to speak cause they haven't signed a nda like me.
I would suggest ensuring login and logout work flawlessly, by doing so continuously all weekend. I'll do the in-game stuff
p.s. nda said nothing about saying you were in beta....and until you actually log in an play, pretty much impossible to break it.
Well i am looking forward to getting ingame so I can watch the wow killer in all it's glory!!! Wow killer to me means I won't have to play wow anymore cause finally something is coming out thats better and new.
How interesting is the rift invasion system? Is it a rift pops up kill stuff rift closes repeat ad nausem or is it significant? Do you really feel like you need to close them and they present some sort of challenge (for me thats like city defenses in shadowbane the best gear can only be made by master craftsman in cities you invested heavily in so you had significant incentive to defend them).
How does the soul system play out can you really develop various builds for various situations or are they 1-2 min/max builds per archetype (fighter mage priest rogue).
How is the questing and lore?
Those are the key things i would want to find out about to see how engaging it would be to me.
Answer to question 1
The look and feel of Everquest with improved graphics. The flexability of the character soul systems. The AAA feel of all the video I have seen. Basically there are a huge number of things this game sounds like it has done right. Should be great times ahead.
Answer to question 2
I am a fan of gaming in general and MMORPG's mostly. Started playing from Ultima Online onwards. I saw many flops and several successes and can kind of get a feeling now for successes. This game in my opinion will be a good success.
Answer to question 3
From what I hear the beta will be short but if you do a blog it would be suitable to do it using your character's perspective as this would provide a fun and informative way to discuss how you went about your adventure and bring more readership.
try dark fall for 6 years...
Actually, if there is an NDA (and I cannot confirm nor deny this) it would not prohibit you from saying that you are in beta, however it would prohibit you from disclosing what is in the NDA, and the fact that there is an NDA.... Which there may or may not be...
i got my beta invite today!!!
im so exicted!!!
Me too!! I haven't been this excited for a mmorpg in a long time I am hoping that it lives up to my hype meter lol!
Well I'm a 29 year old techie who worked for FEMA for a time. I have to tip toe around legalities all the time.
So what Mr. MMOG said; could be possibly maybe the truth.
I didn't bot btw. I did leave the page up all day and hit the ol' F5 key from time to time while looking at the news group page. But it literally took .03 seconds for 40 + invites to hit in ahead of me.
