I tried installing WOW again and the goofy updater refused to work. it just sits there at updating tools and won't go any further. next I tried downloading a fresh client. again, no go. it will start to download and then just freeze. my firewall says the blizzard downloaded is allowed so I'm at a loss as to what to do. I have seen that others are having the same issue but have yet to find a workable solution. grrrrrrrrrrr

The easy solution is to turn off your firewall if you are running a router you have a firewall there which is better then none. Also turn off you spyware program all of them if you are running widows 7 you will find that it has its basic program running also Widows defender which if you are running a decent spyware you dont need defender on anyways make sure you back your puter up to your secound drive since your computer will be defenseless

while installing WoW make sure you scan you computer before and after the process. But all and all after this you should not have any problems to install your game.

Oh and be sure to turn on your firewall the second WoW is completely done along with your spyware.

or download patches from fileshack ect

Or download the client as a torrent from Piratebay or whatever, it is not illegal since you are paying for the game.

But it sounds like a firewall that messes things up to me.

its likely the fact that wow patcher is torrent based, and your system is set up securely and thus unfriendly to torrents

    http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors

Just find the section that corresponds to what you need and download via the FTP/HTTP servers. Worked much better for me.

When they merged the accounts with battle.net it made it impossible to install using pre-battlenet world of warcraft disks. Solution is to make sure your battle.net account is active and download the game launcher via battle.net and it should install all the files, make sure that you have WOW and all the expansions updated with thier codes via your battle.net account to get it to work and then expect to wait several days for it to fully download.
