EQ2 hands down for me.. only premium game you can play 1-80 without spending any money or having to grind for store points.
Easiest choice all week. One game to rule them all! I choose Everquest!......Just kidding it was Lord of the rings online.:)
Vindictus it is for me!
The game is about great fun and a good time killer!
D&D FTW. This is the only category where i have tried all the games listed. And to me the only game that has provided me great bang for my buck in D&D. For 50 bucks i bought all the content in the game up to a couple months ago. Now i can just casually log in when ever i want and play the whole game without worry of sub fees. And the game is damz fun
Playing: PO, EVE
Waiting for: WoD
Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO
Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.
I like LotRO better for a variety of reasons.
But it was an obvious vote for DDO because it started the biggest debate of 2010. F2P & B2P have been around for years, and actually very successful. But DDO made it a topic, and soon everything got a demand to go F2P.
This year it seems like there are more high quality F2P MMOs than P2P!
Easy vote for LotrO
Just to bad that SOE would screw up so bad with their F2P switch for EQ2... could have been something alot bigger and better. But I guess SOE and not known for making smart decisions.
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
eq2 is the best best best f2p game out. lvl up 1-80 without paying a dime and then you can raid if you buy the legendery gear tokens for 2dollars and 50cents )) they did not screw up there f2p model at all its one of the best out ever.
Wizard101 isn't a F2P game. Official FAQ on their website tells:
"1. How much does it cost to play Wizard101?
Wizard101 has a Free Trial that you may sign up for and play immediately at no cost to you. The Free Trial content allows you to play through a small part of the Wizard City world.
You may also subscribe to Wizard101 and have access to the entire game.
You can also choose to Pay as you Go through Wizard101 by purchasing individual areas with Crowns, our Wizard101 Currency. Each area is purchased separately as you progress through the worlds of the Spiral, and once you purchase an area, you own it forever for all characters on that account"

As Vindictus is officially limited to North American players, I don't believe it should be on this list.
Vindictus.
It launched as a Free 2 Play Game. The others are just bad & dying games that went Free 2 Play. Its not the same thing to me.
LORD OF THE RINGS ONLINE.
Done.
Definitely Everquest 2. Vindictus isn't a really good game, and LOTRO, Runes of Magic, and DDO need either extensive time investment or money investment to finish. Wizard101 doesn't fit my style.
Vindictus has a good core system but is way to shallow and limited to win this.
The best two here are obviosuly the failed sub games, so it makes sense they would be better then the usual F2P trash... gonna go for DDO.
I tried but their site was not terribly friendly in my experience.
It wouldn't let me register and then after about half an hour of tweaking settings it said my e-mail was already taken...which is odd since it wasn't taken earlier when I first tried registering.
And no confirmation e-mail.
Simple rule for me if I find I cannot even get an account after half an hour, I'm not likely to play it.
So I couldn't vote for it.
Lotro got my vote.
Its the MMORPG I enjoy most atm. EQ2 is ok, it really makes you feel you are in a fantasy world, but Lotro have much better graphics and only things I dislike is traveling system and loot target.
Vindictus: It's Nexon. Nexon, imho, needs to freshen up or suffer name abuse in its own forums.
LOTRO: Well, that's one name that's been tossed constantly, but I don't like its "freemium" model.
EQ II: Some say it's great, some say "meh", some say it don't deserve the "EQ" title. I can't judge since I haven't played it.
D&D: Uh, guys, are you just picking off the P2P games that went F2P?
Wizard101: Well, that was... not to be expected. I just installed it (without even opening it yet), but looks like it'll definitely not win given the community here.
Looks like I'll be skipping this voting contest too. Damn.
ETA: edited b/c I defaulted to "premium" instead of "freemium" when typing.
Forums: The best real-time interactive MMORPG you'll ever be in.
I went with EQ2, simple reason is the way that LOTRO handles its RMT its not a game anymore is about how much you can buy. At least eq2 you dont got to spend that much to play the free version.
Vindictus and Runes of Magic are the only true F2P's on the list.. Of course, coming from a site that has a clear vendetta against the F2P/cash shop ideology, you basically see the ones most of these users will recognize and not neccesarily the "best" ones of the year (Runes of magic?? 2010? nahh..Wheres Atlantica on this list if RoM is there?)
LOTRO for biggest money hungry cash shop
Everquest 2 for best F2P game
join us on seastone (btw no cash shop to run your bank account dry)

I voted Runes of Magic
LOTRO...FTW
Though I'm subbed for life, I voted for Lord of the Rings online. It's the only game you can actually play 100% free (will cost time to grind), and one of my kin members is going that way and doing very well...
EQ2X sucks IMO. Cash shop is overpriced and when you sub, you still don't get the whole game. Not to mention you can't sub for a longer period with a discount (unlike LotRo)
RoM is just a Pay2Win game with an even more overpriced itemshop than EQ2X has and it has a broken PvP system
Vindictus... can't say a thing about that. It's not available in Europe afaik...
This has been the easiest choice yet in these polls.
This list kinda feels meh, not bad but not exciting, maybe F2Ps are really not all that great or maybe the western F2Ps are not.
From that list I would say DDO. Not because it is great but because it is consistent, it is one of few games that promotes grouping yet lets you solo, and because F2P in that game makes sense.
Vindictus I cannot play, so for me Vidcictus is advertisement for female hygiene.
ROM is imo very good with rich and interesting shop but it is not outstanding game in bigger scope and it is very money hungry.
LOTRO is easily one of top MMOs but the F2P did not do much good to the game, it is old and stagnant, the game mechanics do not match the quality of IP and game media assets.
EQ2X is again great game but the F2P is separate low powered high difficulty setting of the same server, not integrated well into the game.
Wizard101 is not F2P and is very simplistic yet not kiddy as it should be (percents of percents as basis of gameplay for kids?).
Allods is one I would vote for and one we would see in the list if the very poor cash shop decisions and the related gameplay adjustments did not kill it in beta.
MapleStory..
Anyway, I voted LotRO as I played it for quite a while and loved it.
