DCUO's hype is not in top 8, that's a shame. I saw some reviews here comparing to other two super heroes games. I haven't really played them myself, but I believe DCUO has its own immersion. Gameplay is quite fast paced which is a big ++ Graphics are awsome. Stroy is pretty good. Voice overs just pulls you right in and makes you not want to stop playing. Highly immersive. Overall, plays very well, has a lot of things to do, definitely worth a shot.
Don't sweat the hype score. First it's not fantasy based so usual mmo nerds (includes me) aren't hyping it. Besides the mmorpg hype meter isn't scientific anyway. I agree with your assessment of the game. This game will be a massive hit.
I think it is a smart move to not over hype the game by their part.
The problem over hyping a game, like we have seen in the lattest releases (WAR, AoC, FFXIV etc...), is that you have a lot of box buyers but 50% or more of them unsub after the first month because the game doesn't live to that hype. Sometimes the game is not that bad but people were expecting something that doesn't exist and feeling scammed is a good reason to unsub. People close the account and move on to the next over hyped thing, most of us didn't even bother trying expansions or the client after big patches are added unless we are utter bored.
Under hyped games, on the other side, get fewer box sales at release but they have time to fix, balance and add things before making a re-release with an expansion or adding a free trial. Sooner or later people try them (For DCOU even more if next year over hyped games become flops) without an already negative first impression.
Over hyped games suffer harsh critics aswell from press and gamers (as we have seen lurking these forums) and this scares guys on the fence to try the game without giving it a chance. Maybe that's not a lot, but every customer adds.
Of course, if the game is a mess, not a single marketing strategy is going to save it either if it is over or under hyped.
