Seems like you picked the wrong class and that can really hurt in a game like this because of how long it takes to level characters. I share your same feeling toward Blade Dancers and Sword Singers. They are just not my type of classes to play.  If you dont like the BD I recommend stopping now. At your level you should know what you want to play so just reroll a new toon because B Grade is not that hard to get anyway. I rerolled at level 77 because I found something else I wanted to play.

You have to find ways to take your mind of the grind because at your level you have not even began to feel it yet. Join a good established clan thats active and social. It makes all the difference in Lineage 2.

In Lineage 2, even with some of the changes, the game is still about you "either" leveling or making money.

You can't do both at the same time. Well, for the most part. If you are a scavenger you can level with a group and scavenge mats.

Regardless of the gold sellers, the economy was always set up to be hard.

As a Stormscreamer I absolutely require spirit shots and that was where most of my money was going. Being the type of peron who hates crafting and making money in these games, it was always a laborious process in L2. Some evenings were just dedicated to making money. Not fun for me.

So that's where my love/hate relationship for L2 is. After experiencing games like LOTRO where I can just play the way I'd like and still, after a short time, be able to gear up, it's hard for me to go back to L2.

still there is so much to this game that for me is just superior to other games.

The good thing about B Grade is that all you need are C and B Crystals to get what you need. You will need an Avadon Robe set and a Sword Of Valhalla / Acumen. Go to Luxury Shop and see how many crystals you will need and ask some of your clannies to see if they can help with the crystals.

Great advice, thanks. Yeah, I'm really not asking my clannies half as much as I should lol Stubborn independence FTL.

I also just realized the other night that all the common quality stuff is easily affordable at my level with the same stats - just not enhanceable later, but I don't even know what that means right now lol I also heard they're tossing enhancements so it would seem its the perfect time to buy the non-enhanceable gear before it's balanced for the update. Wouldn't it be identical to all other gear post-patch?

Edit: No set bonuses or enhancement options on commons, but other then that it appears identical.

Common gear does not give any bonus so for some classes its not bad at all but for others it can really make a difference. You being a Bishop you really want casting speed so real gear is much more needed. The question is how do you xp? Do you solo and play nuker or do you group and play healer?

I do both. I get guild invites whenever they go dungeon raiding just to see it all and get a feel for what the primary healer is doing at that level. So realistically, I do my leveling solo nuking right now because my xp is minimal in clan level 70+ groups. I can see that if they were depending on my heals, I would definitely need real gear, but as is the common stuff I just bought is working out great. Considering I was soloing up till a day or two ago with Clan Oath gear, it's a pretty big improvement.

I've seriously loved and enjoyed every minute of playing my bishop (healer). I've often kept playing long after my vitality (similar to 'rested' or 'bonus' experience for a set time) has run out which amounts to very slow leveling on average. Doesn't matter what speed it is since the class is just fun to me. I also like running with my clan on raids that are much higher then I am just to enjoy checking out what their high level bishop does and how the overall experience pans out.

On the other hand, I went through several experiences on alts where I just didn't feel like playing them even with full vitality. I'm still working out which class I would enjoy on the side to maximize the vitality benefits, but socializing with my clan/alliance and exploring the hidden corners of the world are definitely the strongest draws to me. The game definitely doesn't try to mask or hide the grind-oriented leveling or farming, but it doesn't feel like the boring grind in many other mmos thanks to the great class and clan.

To be honest, this game requires its fair share of grinding but nowadays you can easily hit 60-70 in a month without playing to much, however it requires you to have some players to play with and just use your time efficiently. The game isnt meant to be grinded out solo mode.

Also the grind in this game is to be taken as grinding is something you constantly do and when you find someone to pvp you pvp them. Its not a game for everyone but it sure is one of the FEW hardcore mmorpgs around.

Taking the long way to an area really highlights the variety and cool corners of the Lineage world similar to how Vanguard has a lot of seamless dungeons, caves, and places you'd never know were there without getting lost and just stumbling across it.

That's how I discovered Sea of Spores.

    And Orfen.

    Imagine my surprise.

Of course, those were the days when she would chase you to the gates in order to stomp on your head.

    good times.

lol... Yeah Orfen certainly makes an interesting first impression.

I played in Prelude and C1, then left for WoW for a long time.  Came back very recently.  All I rembered liking is still here.  All I disliked (endless XP grind pre-S, bots, adena grind) is either gone or much, much better.  Plus they've added a lot of nice enhancements to the game.  And it still looks as beautiful as ever.  Also, the community seems very cool.  Like people don't want to scare away new people or returning players, so instead there's a very chill vibe all over as I return.  I really endores giving L2 a try (or a 2nd try if you played back in the day).

I have to echo the above sentiment as well.  All of the xp/adena farming groups I have been in are consistently respectful of others, and communicate well with others to work out the best place to go where it doesn't slow anyone else down. Groups either steer away from places already taken, or inquire on specifically what area the original group is canvassing so a newer group can find a spot of their own. I remember that happening a bit in FFXI, but it wasn't the norm like it has been in my experience in L2. I wish the level of respect was this common in other MMOs. I'm sure there are bad apples in L2 like in any game, but I honestly have yet to find them.

    Indeed.

Back when the game first launched it was not like that, though lol.

Like every other open PvP MMO, L2 had to go through its "growing pains"... You know, the whole deal with people feeling that they were obligated to attack anyone they saw because it's a PvP MMO and "that's what you're supposed to do".  No reason. No rationale. You were there, so they attacked you. It's always a chaotic period for a new PvP MMO I find and, unfortunately the communities in some of them never grow out of that stage.

The population of Lineage 2 by and large definitely did mature and grow out of that phase; most notably around C3.

There's a lot of smack-talking, a lot of people knocking others... Hero chat was always a trip to watch. Most of it, though, was all in good humor. Most every fight would end with a mutual 'gf' ("Good Fight") between the opponents, etc.

There is still drama that goes on, for sure. A lot of bitter feelings by people who, in my opinion, take the game far too seriously. I've found they're usually dismissed by the greater part of the population, though.

Along with FFXI and AC2 (RIP), L2 is one of the few MMOs I've played that I look back on and always will look back on fondly, despite the aggravation I did feel at times.

Not to mention, Lineage 2 still has, to this day, THE coolest class names in any MMO I've played, ever.

I mean, Stormscreamer... how freaking badass sounding is that?

Oh yes... Aden is rich with interesting sights and "oooh what's over there?" moments.

I mean, who wasn't intrigued by Cruma Tower long before they could go inside? Who wasn't amazed when they first saw the hulking shadow of Tower of Insolence looming ahead of them? And so on... Very very impressively designed game world.

One of my very first "ooh what's over there?" moments was during Beta. I saw the structures above School of Dark Arts off in the distance and - being a tireless explorer type - went to check it out. A little while later, not paying attention to the ground in front of me, I lunged right off the ledge and fell down into the labrynth below. A little bit later I was dead lol. Good times.

NC's world designers, and their artists - at least with L2 - are top notch.

Its nice that it is a open map but its way to empty.

  • makiimakii Member Posts: 280

for me it has still the best mmorpg Music ever created. I played it once in closed beta. Had a mage. Back then they were super hard to lvl. Till i gained 1 lvl i died probably 15x. Neverless. I joined after that the first freeshards and had a great time.

I dont play mmorpgs anymore ofc. Im alot older now and find the time to spend on them, not worth. It was a great time, but considering now, no game in this world is it worth anymore. I visit from time to time to check whats new, but will join them again.

    But thats just me.

I personally played in a Russian server for free (it's an official server). The downside (for some) is that it's in Russian. I'm not a native speaker of Russian, so it's tough for me there, but I manage most of the time.

Now I also have a few questions conserning the game, which would be hard for me to ask ingame from Russian players.

I am nearly level 20, but with what I am conserned is that is there no potions and such stuff? Like they drop every once in a while from monsters, but I haven't seen mana potions for example (I heard they are in Item Shop). So if I won't buy mana potions from item shop, will it be like it is right now, that after every 4 monsters I kill, I have to sit down and take a minute to two rest? Because that's pretty boring. I could probably handle running around and killing mobs with grinding, but the 1/2 sitting time makes it unbearable (like 1/2 the time I play I have to sit down).

The version is something called "High Five"? Whatever that means.

There are some Elixers Of Mental Strength that gives you some mana but they have like a 5 min reuse time so they are not true mana pots. They are really for emergency use only. I am not sure but I think you can purchase D and C grade elixers in town but they others have to be crafted. I dont know how it is on the Russian version but on the US version you can find them being sold in Aden and Monster Track.

If you are running out of mana and having to rest like that I guess you are playing a mage? If so only hunt mobs that you can kill in 2 shots and make sure they are mobs that drop herbs on the ground so you can pick up some mana herbs while you hunt. This is the most effective way to play a mage. When you get B Grade which is level 52 you should buy a Improved Kookabura pet that acts as a mage buffer and mana recharger. These pets are a must have for any mage type class. If thats not an option start making friends with Elven Elders and Shillen Elders since they also have recharge skills for mages.

  • naljameesnaljamees Member Posts: 9

Nope, actually I play a paladin, lol. But hunting mobs without using skills seems to be extremely inefficient.
  • MikehaMikeha Member EpicPosts: 9,196

If you are spamming Shield Bash or what ever its called then you are playing the class wrong. Auto attack and use your skills while managing your mana. Skills are used when needed in LIneage 2. Its not like other games where you just spam your skill on every mob you face. Tanks are also the lowest dps class on the game but at high level there dps gets impressive. If you run out of mana just keep fighting while it recharges and hope for a mana herb drop.

  • A1D3NA1D3N Member UncommonPosts: 276

paladin is a tank class, very very good in later levels, but u cant kill much on ur own realy, best bet is to get a lvl 55 geater wolf and kit it up so u tank the mobs and ur pet kills them, the wolfs have very good p atk.

    Currently Playing:
    ...... :(

  • AzorithAzorith Member UncommonPosts: 188

Yeah, as a melee (especially tank) you are only going to be using skills for the over-hit xp bonus, or if you pull too many and need to kill/cc 1-2 mobs off real quick. Save that mp, and keep killin even if it's out!

  • naljameesnaljamees Member Posts: 9

I just tried and... if I don't use any skills when fighting monsters i have under half HP left after fighting a green monster. I'm level 16. And it takes like 30 seconds-minute to kill it without using any skills :D that doesn't seem right.

  • AzorithAzorith Member UncommonPosts: 188

Well you're doing something wrong. Either you didn't do your starter quests to get gear, you didn't get the top no grade weapon to do real damage, or you aren't using your soul shots to do damage.

There is a guide on the official site http://www.lineage2.com/guide/newbie_quest_guide.html#Level20 this guide will take you to 20 and above within a couple hours, gives you a full set of no grade gear, 6000+ no grade soulshots, and like 5-6 no grade shadow weapon tickets.

There are also NPC buffs that give you more damage, atk speed, and even life steal. You can 3 hit mobs that are yellow to red to you (3-10 levels higher) without losing any health as long as you always use those buffs, and the shadow weapons provided to you.

I have gotten to 53 on 2 chars in 2 weeks, and never once had to sit down and stop fighting to rest hp/mp.

Are you on Chronos? If so then what is your charaater name? I can meet you in game to help you out.

No I play in a Russian server (4game.ru), in Atlant. The guide posted in the end of the last page worked great! Thanks!

Although I don't understand why they made these "checkpoints" to need to see the newbie helper. If i hadn't read the guide, how would I have to know?
