DDO as long as I can stand it, then I switch to EQ2 for a week, then I can't stand it no more, then I switch to EQ or maybe COH, or Wizard 101 for a week... then I find a beta for a couple of weeks... buy a ps/3 game pc rpg or other offline sim, play some mortal combat, quit allthat after a few days... read sites like this one...dream of good games... past games... future concepts... nothing at all... those of us bored /hating Wow are bored and doing nothing much.
I will say that I still have an active sub to World of Warcraft and do play (I've had Cataclysm for a week or so and still 81), but not very much. I don't play out of my will to delve into Azeroth, but only because of the people I play with. Personally WoW is too boring, too bland and the same game with way too many payments.
Darkfall Online is my main game, it takes far more skill, has far better character development/immersion than WoW will ever have.
However, there are more pressing concerns with WoW and the rest of the "themepark" MMOs out there. It's a gear grind, which has nothing to do with character advancement or role-playing. It is far too unrealistic and unimmersive in how many raids/dungeons/cataclysmic events occur in these games. It kills it for me.
Don't play WoW or anything for that matter. The genre just isn't the same as it used to be for me anymore. The KIND of people I used to play with are fewer and farther between making it less and less appealing every time to play any mmos anymore.
short answer: Nothing.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Well i played GW and was having fun, then i discovered WoW and i had the gaming experience of my life for +2 years...then TBC got out and..i left. Got bored and started EVE...not for me, i played couple of games like Rising force online, Lineage, EQ, Cabal (pain), Rohan (ouch)...then the WOTLK..managed to play it for 1 month before i promised myself i never would play WoW again.
Got my hands on AOC and i was amazed how good the game was...untill i got to lvl 60 and found out there was nothing to do, pvp was a mess, instances all bugged, no quests, crafting system non existent...game was broken...then..
i picked up WAR...same thing all over again...game was rushed and was a mess, but i had fun trying to play the 1st month..then..
...time for LOTR...shame i was already fed up of all the beating from geting played by funcom and mythic...played 1-1/2 month...
...heard about AION and decided to give it a try...was hearing good stuff about the game so i played from day 1...another game rushed...too many problems, queues were a pain...i couldnt even login to play...by the time that was fixed i was bored but i gave it a go, but only to find out that pvp was a mess, pve was weak and crafting was a pain...and its by far the grindiest game i ever played...but due to my friends i managed to play 1 years untill AOB expansion came out..played 2 weeks...
...back to EVE online, not because is my favourite MMO but CCP deserves some kind of kudos for being able to create the best sandbox game around...and its fun to fire some lasers instead of swinging a sword...
im now playing EVE, broke my promise and im currently trying to see if WoWs Cataclysm brought something new to the game and im also trying to end my achievements on GW.
Guild Wars 2 will be the last MMO i will ever play. Groing tired of all the beating.
WoW may not be perfect, but is by far the most polished and complete MMO out there. Dont like the cartoonish look? Its ok i understand because i dont like it too.
Also don't hate WoW, just disappointed in the shallowness of it as well as the cesspool of a community- play LoTRO occassionally and go outside more. Looking forward to trying GW2, otherwise I think I've probably just outgrown the genre.
Is it my english skills ar what; Are you asking us in the general forum why we are bashing Wow?? I would be more than happy to answer why I like/dislike WoW, but not here.
I tried the WoW trial twice. Couldn't get into the game, as it doesn't seem to have any real depth to the mechanics, nor does it require much thought to play (yes, I heard about button sequences - that's not thought, that's repetition).
I first got started playing Diablo (can you call that an MMO?), then played CoH for a couple of years, then moved between Eve and a bunch of other games (ATITD, Auto Assault Beta, Champions Online Beta, Fallen Earth, and a few others). Eve has my heart due to the complexity of the game in general as well as the excitement (loss actually means something in Eve). Some aspects could be improved (mining, etc), but it's still far better than the point-and-click of WoW.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate WoW or anything of the sort. If anything, I'm grateful for the attention it's brought to the MMO market. However, it just isn't for me.

I myself and playing the revamped pandora saga, great game kinda buggy since the last developer left it for dead at turned it over to a well known and successful game company [Atlus, Demon's souls anyone?] Anyhow the community is great the game exphasizes party and tactical skill and is pretty much a more polished FFXI, wouldn't surprise me if the original designer was SE. Anyhow the game is far from perfect but that is what a CBT is for I suppose anyone looking for a decent game that is [OMG free to play crap] I urge you to give it a go.
I quit WoW a couple of month ago after playing it from the beginning on, but more like on and off in Wotlk. Played some FO:Vegas and Two Worlds 2 after, but somehow playing singleplayer-games isn't my thing anymore. It's like i started playing video games because at a time the games itself were fun, but with myself getting older it turned into playing video games because of their social aspect like meeting rl-friends online, guilds, clans, drama and such. That is also why i played healers exclusively: in my everyday gaming i rather liked having to deal with players instead of NPCs (as Tanks/DDs do).
Bad thing is that my RL-friends still play WoW and my choice to quit made me some sort of a loner now, so i'm spending my evenings rather on my own with mindless surfing and such -and playing nothing. Couple of times i thought that this could drag me into WoW again, but after I went to a friend's house last night and watched him playing Cataclysm for 2 hours, i was glad that i haven't bought the expansion and got confirmed to not do so in the future.
i liked wow (loved it, in fact, for a good while) but i hate the direction it started to head with WOTLK and continuing into cata, so i dunno if i qualify as a wow hater.
I play eve (i started playing eve while still subbed to wow, i always have 2 games subbed). I have the free trial to DF almost done and i' thinking about subbing; if not i'll give ff14 a try again now that it's been the recipient of many firings and 2 big patches. Since i liked ff11 a lot i feel i owe it.
if you're wondering what my favourite "wowlike" games are, i'd say LOTRO is a great wowlike game, and if crafting and housingare REALLY your thing i'd say eq2 above even lotro (lotro has both crafting and houses but i like eq2's more; however i like lotro's pve more)
I feel that, looking at games in their current states, eve is the best mmo out there for the fee.
also my sig has my other games i've liked

Everything that isn't WOW. That's the whole point- there's a big MMO universe of things that aren't WOW and I get to play them all. Innovative game-play, great graphics, civilized chat...etc. WOW players, al ---million of them, get WOW; I get the rest of the MMO universe.
I'm not a wow hater. I just didn't enjoy it. The MMOs I enjoyed most were shadowbane, which I can't play due to it closing, and FFXI. I am currently playing DDO, but really replaced most of my MMO time with tabletop D&D.
First let me state that I don't hate the game itself why should I? I've spent some good amount of time there, met some real nice people (some became RL friends) and also had some stunning RP moments (former Warcraft 1 - 3 lover) back then. Having said that I do hate the community, the direction the game has gone and of course their new owner Activision.
I do play Minecraft (working on my "keep") and casually Aion right now (loving the mangastyled graphics).
Minecraft:
1. I do love and appreciate indie developers so it was clear I would support this game, even if I didn' like it.
2. its complete free range (great name for a new subgenre), you can do and built whatever you want. Only thing you have to do is building your first house quick
3. Skin packs for the 4 win. Heck right now I'm playing a Super Mario (Nintendo) styled version of it and can't stop smiling
4. unbelievable fair value, endless hours of fun for only 9,90 $
5. I love sandbox style
Aion:
1. Manga graphics
2. Smooth animations
3. tons of gear customization
4. Found a nice guild again
5. For me its still the best fantasy game outthere although I didn't like 2.0 and 2.1 too much, but looks like they are bringing back some good rifting and not so ridiculously high droprates again so lets see :-)
6. I hate instances and love open group areas and Aion is the only game - I know Vanguard still exists but you know other story - offering that kind of "uninstanced" group content.
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play." "Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
I don't like WoW, I played Pre-BC and in TBC but I just lost interest with the direction of the game. Blizzard seems to have a disdain for their own lore, maybe its because they sort of uhhumm hijacked it in the beginning. That's okay though, this is how businesses operate. However, I came back for WOTLK after a friend stole it and gave it to me lolz he used to do that a lot, and I just had to say I didn't like it at all. Before I move on to what I play next there is something I have to address. This is all the people who say they don't play other mmo's because they all look like WoW. These people flag themselves as ignorant to the other games, and show the lack of knowledge they have for them. Because, of course we will have ui similarities and overall basic mechanic parallels, but WoW has these similarities with previous mmo's. It just polished and refined them. Moreover, the other games have things about them that make them unique. 1. I play WAR. Reason being, is that first and foremost I love this IP, and second because it offers great pvp. Also, this game actually brought inovation to the table with its PQ system which has now insipired GW2 with the whole dynamic event system albeit much larger scale. The thing I love about this game is being able to hop in vent and control the tides of battle by corresponding with other organized warbands, even though this isn't the case day to day as far as organization go's but when it happens it is a beautiful thing. 2. I play AOC, this is because I wanted to start playing an mmo with a real life friend and he just for some reason didn't want to play WAR. AOC is another great game, it is one of the only sandbox mmo's lacking faction gameplay and offers true open pvp which I love. Also, you get a great sense of the lore in this world, I can feel Robert E. Howard's universe coming to life. Only downside is that it's not open world like I thought it was.
Well i play EVE Online, for a few reasons that i beleive set it apart from other MMOs. First off we have Player Ownership, this I beleive is very important in a game, for reasons i wont get into right now. The second reason I play EVE would be that i can kill anyone i want at anytime. . . . . some one trolling chat. . .Lock him & pop him, suicide him. . . repeatedly if you must
PVP IS MANDITORY!!!!!
I will conclude with the a third reason, EVE Online has a mature community (no age bias, this is based on behavior) packed full of great people from all over the world. One last thing to all the people that say EVE Online is boring. . . your doing it wrong.
Every MMO to this point is the same grind, nothing innovating, but I am looking forward to Rift, it seems different and innovative by forcing players to interact with each other and using a dynamic system.
Looking for an MMO like EQ1 that had a great deal of player interaction; whether it was camping spawns, face-to-face real time trades in the west commons tunnel, or having the ability to pay for buffs to increase your effectiveness in PVE/PVP. Those are things that need to be brought back into MMO's.
They all seem too mcuh solo-oriented now and its like your playing one massive singleplayer game then when you're done and nothing that mainstreams all the old and new content equally.
I tolerate WoW and am currently playing it as the other games I enjoy are either almost dead or run like crap on my comp. I have played UO,AC,EQ,EQ2,AOC,AO,WAR,DAoC,LOtRO,DDO,CoH,DF, Vanguard,SWG and Eve. I wish DAoC was still thriving, Vanguard was playable or I could take LoTRO for more than a week. The rest of the games were just not really any good. I honestly wanted to like CoH but bu level 17 I am ready to unistall.
I dont hate WoW....I did hate the graphics though. Total game breaker(Lame reason, but didnt make it past 2 weeks at launch). Had character models been on par with EQ1, I would of probably been a long time WoW gamer as I am a PVE themepark gamer.
I havent played MMOs since mid 06. I currently play quite a few different games on my 360. The Mass Effect franchice is currently my favorite, and this is from a person that doesnt really enjoy shooters over-all.

well i just subbed to WoW but before that i pretty much just hopped from one F2P to another or played a non MMO.
Don't hate it, just don't find it fun anymore and playing L2 again.
