I play fighting games! Bored with all the MMO's that are out these days, I'll give Rift a try but I doubt it'll be anything outside the things we're already used to in this genre.
However! It is a good year to be a 2D-fighting fan . SF4 came out and just revitalized the shit out of the scene. Next year we got MVC3 coming out, KOF13, Mortal Kombat's new game.. Can't wait
Pretty offtopic right there but MMO just aren't what they used to be. But I can see how everyone wants to cater to the kids with instant gratification and shiny stuff to look at is all that matters for most.
By no means do I hate WoW, and that's such a strong word to toss around when it comes to MMO's or video games at large. I even enjoy playing WoW, and will admit that I love playing the green bar mini-game (healing). That being said, I don't like what WoW has done to the genre, and even though I've raided in all three expansions previous to the one recently released, I still find the end game to be painfully shallow.
That being said, I think it's obvious that I enjoy the journey more than the final destination, which is why I generally stick to open world games. I'm also a bit of an oddity, in that I enjoy the hell out of sandbox MMO's but usually find the PvP to be underwhelming or difficult to get into. The only reason I mention this is to counter the belief that only hardcore PvP basement dwellers play these open world sandbox MMO's - that's not the case. Right now I'm paying for (and playing) Darkfall Online. I'm also constantly playing UO, though specifically on player ran shards.

I play WOW. Just started back after a year . I really like the new Worgen area. Despite this...not really enthused to log on. Goblin area was lame imo..though I like the goblin as a hunter. Maybe once I get to explore more of the old areas that have been re-done...but I'm not too positive I'll enjoy it much.
Mostly been playing LOTRO and tend to jump from that to AoC and Fallen Earth (with some DDO thrown in). Beta testing DCUO right now and really looks like I'll be playing that as another long term or casual game (it could work as both)...as long as they iron out the bugs. Then again..with CO going F2P..I might just stick with the freebies {LOTRO,DDO,CO (for my superhero kicks) and possibly STO(for some tame sci-fi)}
I do want to try RIfts and Gods and Heroes. I occasionally check out Darfall from time to time and will definitely play Star Wars:TOR
EVE, very casually. I've thought about checking WoW out again, but I now know that I want to get rid of the account after a week of playing, been there and done that too many times to fall in the same trap. Actually nothing in the game itself makes me want to come back, there's hardly anything enjoyable about it, but the social experiences have been great in WoW. Worst experiences are there as well. EVE is just what I want from a MMORPG, but just a tad too serious for my taste. Can't have it all. Luckily EVE is as friendly to casual players as to hardcore players.
I don't hate WoW, but I have no plans to go back to it after making 1 lvl 80 and doing some 5 man and 10 man content. Anyways currently playing GW1 to round out my HOM before GW2 hits and I have plans to play SWTOR.
I don't hate WoW. I recently reupped for a month to try their expansion. I won't extend my sub though, just more of the same there.
Anyway, I play Guild Wars off and on. Sometimes I'll play AoC just for the combat. Other than that I'll play some single player games from time to time. I'm kind of getting tired of video games to be honest.
Have to say that there are two things I didn't like about WoW when I tried it: The Lore and graphics.
In the past, I've played EQ, EQ2, DAoC, AC, AoC, Guild Wars, DDO and Warhammer. I liked them all better than WoW. Each one had something I liked, where as WoW just seemed very blase to me. Just my opinion though. I respect Blizzard for making a nicely polished product though.
As of right now, I decided to try something completely different - D&D. Yup, old school D&D with the new 4e rules. I play on Wednesday at the local gaming store and it's been a blast. Getting together face to face, strategizing, and high fiving when someone rolls a 20! I liked it so much we started a gaming group one night a week on the weekends as well. Great attendance between 6-10 people for over a year and a half now. I'm very happy with this break, but it hasn't stopped me from looking forward to GW2 and EQNext.
To all gamers though, have a happy holiday. May your avatar kick some butt!
I don't hate wow but i do hate blizzard. I think they are taking the sheeple and bleeding them dry, putting Zero of the millions back in the game. The game looks old the new npcs look better then the players, so that tells me that the models can be upgrated. Blizzard is just to Fat and lazy now to do it.
And i would not even call crapaclysm a expansion pack. LOL
p.s I play the game of Forums, good game but a lot of trolls and elitist jerks in it.

I think many, if not most of the haters play sandbox RPGs. WoW is fantassy themepark par excellence, it will be hard to beat that. The rest is probably either not interested in fantassy (historic/sci-fi players) or just don't like the graphics and want something more realistic (AoC anyone?).
As for me, it has been several years since I last played WoW, and I have to admit I originally found it boring with nothing much to do. That was before the dungeon finder, and there was nothing to do besides quest and grind to 60. Needless to say I never made it past 40.
I returned about a month ago, and shot to 80 within 2 weeks spamming the dungeon finder. Like the above poster, I find almost everything had changed.
I don't hate WoW, but I am tired of it. My biggest frustration with WoW is that due to its popularity, the vast majority of quality MMOs try to emulate it. Which leads to games that I'm tired of before I even play them.
I'm currently playing two games, City of Heroes and Aion. Aion is my pvp game, though I do a fair bit of pve as well. Though it's like WoW in some ways, I think that given a few years of development, it'll surpass it in everything except subscriber count. Those who call it 'just another Asian grinder' have either never played the game, or simply don't understand what the words they're saying actually mean. If they can fix their pvp system, which is broken in a few ways, and increase the number of zones a bit more, they'll have a smash hit on their hands - the game is just really solid overall.
City of Heroes is a different game altogether. It holds a special place in my heart since it was my first MMO. Even though I'm not a fan of the superhero genre, the game still remains one of my all time favorite games. This is mostly due to the combat system. It's one of the few games that I find the combat itself to be fun. With games like Aion, LotRO, and WoW, it's normally the progression and social aspects that I enjoy. With City of Heroes, I have the pleasure of that plus the joy of mowing down hordes of baddies with a system that's complex, rewarding, and most of all, fun.
Some Wow, some Lotro and some Darkfall but not fully immersed in any.
Generally I'll play what people I know IRL are playing as long as I enjoy it and I currently have different groups of people in each.
Playing: Darkfall New Dawn (and planning to play Fallout 76) Favourite games have included: UO, Lineage2, Darkfall, Lotro, Baldur's Gate, SSX, FF7 and yes the original Wizardry on an Apple IIe
i dont hate wow i hate blizzard they always changing game after game fcked i dont like play now boring always same same we need diffrent game. i liked game when lvl 60 time nobody hitting 15-20 k damage lame my english bad sorry for this i will play rift but i cant find vip key
I could never get into WOW but think its a decent game. I hate some of the WOW fanboys though. I was playing EQ 2 but am currently in between games waiting for DCUO or RIFT maybe both but only to kill time in until SWTOR. SWTOR will be a 100% buy for me anways.
Lotro at the moment, waiting for SWTOR. I dabble in everything (except WoW). I tried WoW, but personally I find Freerealms more challenging and compelling.

I don't hate wow but I'm bored of it. I've played since the start and been on and off jumping between games as that's what I like to do. Before cata launched I spent 2 months in wow checking it and I found out I should have left after a month. That's about all I can take it at current state. I tested new beginner quests for a few days after launch and called it quits, never bought cata.
Now I'm playing Fallen Earth and having fun. All the rush I felt in wow has been forgotten. It's not about getting to end game asap and farming instances for drops. It's about adventuring, feeling the world around me and getting prepared for the dangerous wastelands. Just the way I want my games to be.
I haven't played WoW since 2005. After that time I have played every MMO out there, most recently Darkfall. I just went back to WoW and I am actually enjoying it again. I have 2 level 60's that have crappy gear (rogue and hunter) from 2005. So rolled up a Worgen Druid and really enjoying the polish and questing. I will most likely get bored when I reach max level like I did before, but for now I will say I am playing World of Warcrap :P

Only thing on the horizon that looks comparable to WoW is SWTOR and GW 2, sorry Tera and others are just gimmick games that people will quit after the first month, and are not serious MMO contenders
