"We are happy to announce the next major step in Black Prophecy’s development; today, the Closed Beta Non-Disclosure-Agreement will be lifted. This means that it is no longer prohibited to publically discuss beta content, post videos or screenshots. In addition, the Closed Beta Forums will be opened to the public.

However, the beta invitation process is still in place and you will only be able to play the Beta if you have been invited. But don’t worry, we will open the beta in the beginning of 2011 to allow everyone to have a look at the game.

Until then we kindly ask non-beta testers to refrain from participating in beta specific discussions and bug reporting forum threads without the beta game experience required to provide productive feedback."

Yes please. I would like to here some first hand experiances from people who have played it. This game is on my quietly looking forward to list.

The controls are like Freespace 1 & 2.

    The visuals are lovely.

The combat is like Freespace 1 & 2.

Wrap that up in an online environment and you have Black Prophecy.  The main story seems solid enough and I enjoy the game. I just need to purchase a decent joystick.  The mouse and keyboard are OK but nothing beats a joystick for dogfighting.

Sorry for the short description, I am at work.  Feel free to ask questions, I might be able to answer them.

    Couple questions:

How extensive is the instancing?  Is it open world or segmented zones?  If segmented, how immersion breaking/intrusive are the loading screens (I know this is very subjective)?

How many players can participate in an open world dogfight before lag kicks in?

Can you land at a station and walk around, and if so, is there anything noteworthy that you can do out of ship?

Edit: I guess the answer is no after reading the FAQ section of their website.

    Does the combat get repetitive?

    Do the missions get repetitive?

How is the crafting and economy?

Basically, When you finish the intro sequence you're ported to a space station (hub). That will be your hub until you out-lvl the quests given from that particular hub. Then you jump to the next hub "rinse repeat". . Around the hub there is no instancing as such. ( you see and can trade chat with others) These hub sections will probably be cut into shards/zones as more people start playing. Missions selections from the hubs consist of PVE/PVP/Grouped.

On the subject of crafting.I upgraded a piece of equipment and it took 25 real world minutes. In that time you can't use the game. Basically ,you have to sit there and watch the progress bar or go afk.

The question about how many people can participate in PVP. It's too early to comment really because the server has been horrible/unstable for pretty much everything grouped/solo/pvp.

The combat in BP does get repetitive ( get use to flying in circles).

The missions are repetitive yes. ( hub>missions>hub>missions)

The economy is non existent. (No auction house)

Overall nice looking game with no depth in my opinion.
