I've been looking at this game for a while and since I haven't played since the trial was VERY new I have a few questions.
1. When I originally played I'd be getting in games (BG style type stuff, forgot what they're called) and be fighting level 50's when I was level 8 or so. Does this still happen?
2. Is the game a huge grind past the intro levels? Does it feel smooth like you keep gaining stuff or are you only getting things every 5-10 levels or so?
3. What are tokens? I see these boosts but nothing quite explains what the tokens are used for and how many tokens things actually cost.
4. This mostly pertains to question 1, but has the game picked up more players? Is it more populated?
5. Lastly, I read some threads of botting. Is this an issue or are people just QQ'ing about losing games?
Now I did see other threads but most were started monthes ago and I know how things can change in MMO's pretty frequently so just on the off chance the game has changed in the past month (Maybe botting became huge in the past 2 weeks for example) I would like to know the most up to date info and opinions.
In the players opinions, is this game a good buy?

Hey op,
Since Helthros did a good job of answering your questions, I wanted to add in a few thoughts and comments since i was recently in your situation.
I started testing Global Agenda in the friends and family alpha. I really wanted to see this game succeed and supported it the best that I could. I think the first post in the GA MMORPG.com forum is from me, in fact. I was gung ho about it. I didn't buy the game when it launched and didn't care for where the game was at developmentally for many months. I eventually did a trial. I wasn't impressed. I was apprehensive and still couldn't rationalize buying it.
With the Sandstorm update, this game is definitely worth it as a buy-to-play title. I got it for 8 dollars. You can get it on Steam right now on sale (last I checked). The game is 50 percent off on GA's official site (globalagendagame.com) and you can probably get a further 30 percent off with a referral coupon code(try one of these codes if you're interested:GACOU214919733732, GACOU214919733731, or GACOU214919733734). 7 friends of mine bought the game this week and they are digging it.
The game is more like a hub/matchmaking system with one small open zone. You can run pve, pve raids, agency versus agency (a war pvp system that is kind of like Civlization meets Unreal Tournament), and more. If you don't go in expecting a huge traditional MMO, and keep in mind that it is a third-person shooter that operates on an instanced hub system like Hellgate London, then you will probably enjoy it.
Global Agenda has plenty of flaws but when everything comes together properly it is a fricking blast. Hi-Rez is a solid indie company who listens to their playerbase. The next expansion is scheduled for quarter 1 of next year. GA is a game I will probably keep installed indefinitely due to its buy-to-play model, the fast paced action, and the company behind it.
The gaming websites should re-review GA since it is nothing like when it was released or first evaluated. Accordingly, take any information you read out there with a grain of salt. Try it for yourself.

1. The mercenary missions are bracketed and start at level 10. I'm not sure if it's bracketed at 5 levels per bracket or 10 levels per bracket. Level does not seem to be an issue with any sort of balance in the matches I've been in.
2. You can get something after every Mercenary match or PvE mission. In terms of talent points, they stop after level 30, so you have all your talents at level 30. It is a grind in the sense that you are either doing the Mercenary (PvP) missions, or the Special Ops (PvE) missions to level. You also have the Raids every 2 hours or so, which are 10 man PvE defense missions. They've added some additional mission types, but you have to have a pre-made group for them. They are a harder difficulty.
3. You get tokens for PvP and can use them to purchase some really decent gear.
4. I'm sure the game is more populated since you first started playing, but I think the population is winding down a bit to its steady state. I never have to wait in queue long for merc missions, so I don't think it's affecting that aspect of the game right now.
5. My opinion is that people are just QQ'ing about losing. GA is pretty aggressive about getting rid of botters. The other thing is that the game is skill dependent, and some people really are good. Not that botters don't exist at all, but I've never seen one or been the target of one that I'm aware of.
In my opinion, this game is a good buy since it does not have a subscription. You can pick it up and play however you want and put it down whenever you want and you've only spent the initial purchase price. If you find it on sale someplace, that purchase price can be as little as $9.99. That's a very good deal indeed.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Wasn't having so much expectations when I got this one.. I've been playing for a couple of weeks now and enjoying the ride so far. The game can be very frustrating some times though as it seems the matchmaking isn't doing a steady job. Maybe because the rating system doesn't seem very efficient either.
Haven't been able to play AvA yet, still grinding to give a good opposition, but it seems very (and I mean VERY) competitive.. So be ready to be yelled at...
All in all, this game is a good quality/value, no pay 2 win and a good team-based game. A lot of similarities with Team Fortress 2 so if you already played that one, you shouldn't be too much stranger to the genre..
Here is a little update/follow-up from my reply a few posts up.
I am still playing and enjoying the game. If you're into multiplayer shooters you'll probably like it. It is not without frustrations, flaws, and annoyances, but for the price I have gotten more than my money's worth.
If you've ever enjoyed multiplayer shooters, even if you're not playing them now, give GA a chance. You will more than likely get your money's worth after a few hours. Don't go in expecting a huge sci-fi world that you explore and pvp in. It is essentially a multiplayer matchmaking game that keeps persistent track of your accomplishments, gear, etc.
The last expansion, Sandstorm, added an open desert zone. It is a relatively small area and you only really use it for pve until level 20. I mention this because so many people log in and say, "That's it? no more open world missions to take?" when they finish the desert content. I am doing you a favor and telling you now: NO, there are no more open zones after the desert. You mostly queue for pve maps (raids, solo, group, double agent) or pvp maps (there are various types such as agency vs agency and regular public maps).
There is simple crafting as well.
