the "fluff" of RIFT is limited to pets and titles. someone else can add to it if am forgetting something, but iirc that is all - they have been very busy with " we just want a functioning game out"
Does RIFT ship with an appearance tab (a second equipment screen for visual appearance only) or is it clone wars all over again?
It is one of the many demands along with housing. And the way devs listen to community i am sure it will happen in future. But for now no promises from Trion.
Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

Im picking on WoW btw because its the beast that made all of this possible

yeah, it's clone wars, even to the point that both Def and Guards have the same armours, so dont expect to see even Aion level difference in the looks of the factions. added to the fact that the character models are so similar in body shape (apart from it's race) and you have a LOT of people lookin the same according to their class.

it's pretty sad in a new MMO tbh.
yeah its pretty sad how quick are people to spread wrong info. The only similarity between two races is keth and High elves. guardians have dwarfs, Defians don't have any dwarf class. Defiant Bahmi look nothing like any class on guardian side. Eth look nothing like dwarf, mathosians or high elves.
Moreover, the defiant armor is different from guardian armor unless you are comparing lvl 10 noob armor on each side still not same armor design.
Not to mention that both defiant and guardian will get faction specific armor at higher levels. people are judging the game from first 20 levels as if that is where the game ends. A lvl 20 Guardian looks nothing like lvl 20 defiant.

Well i dunno about that.
My level 20 Bahmi armour looked pretty similar to my level 20 Dwarf armour. It is something trion needs to work on. I am okay with it for lower levels b/c its all stuff you are going to replace anyways. For end game though I seriously hope they have some unique looking armour for both classes, archtypes, and factions.
I did get a VERY cool looking shield though in Iron Tombs in from the first beta event. The detail on it was amazing and it was very nice looking.
There are armor dyes as well I have been done some feedback on secondary dyes though. The issue most have with appearance tabs comes down to PVP if you are fighting someone in a dress the assumption is a mage and when you get taunted by a warrior bit of a shock.

I had a mix of green and blue armor on 4 of my alts and they look nothing like my main on defiant. if my characters are still there for third beta i will post pictures. My defiant bahmi looks badass in blue armor.

Yes the dye is okay but not all items can be died, and like you said you can only dye main colours. As far as appearance slots go just lock remodelling to archetype specific armour.

Yeah pretty much what I suggested calling specific appearance tab so I can be mostly blade dancer but maybe have my app tab be marksman.
I'm pretty sure that the most common use of an appearance tab would be something like "I visually prefer my lvl23 set over my lvl24-38 silly looking mixture" or "I prefer this lvlX set even in endgame, it just fits the character the best". Sacrificing that for some fear of PvP sillyness sound insane.
