Well this is a small part of game chaging......coolness you missed! I was there. These battles a freakin awesome. I have beta tested nearly every mmo for last 10 yrs......and nothing has been nearly as epic as this!!!!
Copy and paste this address below..... into your browser.....and Watch Epic Golem SERVER BOSS Event fight.
Entire server can get into ......has to ....ump in and start smacking on this thing. The fight lasts a very long time.....with multiple huge knockbacks and the thing heals up. Once it's dead and the event is over ....you get to clain rare epic loot.
Hate to see so many people miss out on this very cool...and fun game. It is not just a WoW copy.....its like many games rolled into one....with some twists. It's so much fun. Breathe of fresh air to play. Like the video....pass it on.
You are absolutely correct! This game is simply overflowing with coolness. After playing the last beta I fell in love with the invasions, those random, unscripted events add an element to the game that makes it unique, or at least amoung the other titles that are out there today.
For me, gaming is about fun and grouping with friends. This game is great at that.
I love the randomness of the rifts and invasions. If they take over a quest hub, then you have to kill off the invaders to turn it in. If you simply find this to be a nuisance then I would look elsewhere. It is going to happen.
After playing indie games for the past year and the frustrations involved game breaking problems, I look forward to a more polished release.
Played in all 3 events to give it a go and after the first one I thought I would be a Rift player but by the second I hated being on rails the whole time. And the rails in rift are to the extreme. WoW is a sandbox game when you compare it to Rift.
This.
After playing Rift,i came back to FFXIV and i am having fun,LOL.
And the global cooldown makes the combat feel terrible.
I will indeed at sub to Rift for least several months. Seriously, Trion might still mess this up, though I doubt it. Heck I've even joined a Guild already... And that has been a motivating factor for some games in the past. Its very possible I'll be having enough fun to overlook SWTOR and GW2, when they release. We'll see!
Have not played beta, but I am really interested in playing it, and am more than likely going to be buying a new computer and buying the game on launch day cause from all i've heard it seems like what I'm looking for, of course in this day and age with MMO's theres a great chance it will fail epicly. I really hope not though we need more games to be competitive in this market, it strikes change in the industry.
I was in all 4 betas and I had to be one of the first people to pre order the CE.. The game is pretty much everything I want in a MMORPG and then some..
I'm not a big fan of pvp oriented MMO's and quite frankly everyone fantasy PVP oriented MMO's failed miserably except for UO.. WAR was horrible, AOC, not much better, Darkfall is ridiculous, and MO isn't even playable.. Those who don't like the game complain because they don't like the PVP. Well, Rifts is not a pvp game,, pvp is thrown in for extra flavoring, nothing more.. I love the PVE dungeons, environments, class system, cities, and of course the Rift invasions are absolutely awesome! Especially when one of the major invasions can come out of nowhere and literally take over your towns and cities.. The only thing that can stop them is players banding together to drive them back and destroy the rift.. This is super next gen awesome! No other MMO had insane events like Rifts where the mobs can literally take over your towns and cities.. It's intense, exciting, and mind blowing fun! Also the planar rewards you can get are better than dungeon loot!
I hope the game can keep me interested even after I reach the end game,, this is my only worry.. But I'll definitely be subscribed the next 3 months at least.. So, If 90 bucks can keep me entertained for 3 months, I still see it as money well spent...

GW 2 will mainly attract the whinny kids plaguing WoW.. SWTOR will attract mainly fans of SCI Fi MMO's like SWG, Anarchy Online, and even EVE.. Which means the real hardcore fans of traditional fantasy MMO's like EQ will be playing Rifts.. This is another reason why Rifts will be successful,, because the community playing it actually loves the game...

What I really don't understand from the opposite side opinions - WOW clone, WAR clone, not next gen - , is why are those people playing any MMO at all, and what are they all waiting for? For a small miracle that someone makes a game, where you don't have anything that any MMO ever made? Like xp, items, levels, skill trees, button pushing, raids, groups, pve, pvp, instances, zones, chat.
Please tell me, how would a game look like, where you wouldn't say "its a WOW clone" or "its same as every other MMO".
I have played EQ, SWG, AO, EVE, AoC, WAR, LOTRO, STO, and I am also waiting on SWTOR. I will buy it as I bought all of the above. EQ and Anarchy Online are the only games that hadn't disappointed me, and WAR is the game I longest played, because with all of its bugs and Mythic's failure as a company, the game suits me, with both pve and pvp.
If Rift can give me pve and pvp, without the bugs, than I'm all for this WAR clone.
Just please add some orks. Or a third faction, like DAoC
Hi all, I can honestly say that I have not been this excited about a new MMO release since my first foray into WOW, the only other time I hate to admit I suppose, was the anticipation I felt for Aion in beta & subsequent play, but I had my hopes dashed as usual after making it to level 43 since then, but I just coudn't bring myself to play it anymore, far too Asian grindy grind - agghhh the tedium just sucks the soul right out of you. I have tried literally dozens of other MMO's in the last few years, but none have managed to hold me for very long, including - EQ2, Guild Wars, LOTRO, STO, CO, AOC, Tabula Rasa, Jade Dynasty, Allods, Alganon, Runes of Magic, Aion etc etc etc. I am keeping everything crossed for - RIFT, please make me happy....../cries likes a baby...Very good luck to Trion Worlds..
Not only will I sub after launch but I have been enjoying it enough that I upgraded my preorder to a CE. My oldest son liked it enough to also preorder.
It is not a groundbreaking game but it changes enough things to make it highly enjoyable and I love the class system.

Yes I played and I am almost positive I will preorder and probably sub in the future

Played the beta for a weekend. I wanted to like it, really itching for a mmo to play until GW2 comes.
But this wasn't it.
"If I had a d*ck, I'd go get laid. But we can do that next best thing... Let's kill people."
Simply put "Good Quality game and Great Customer Service"!
Best on most polished Closed Beta, I have ever had the chance to test.

Played beta 4. Voted yes. Pre-ordered the game and went w/ 6 month sub.
...it was fun and boring all in the same breath for me, so we shall see where it goes and if I play it beyond my 6 months.
Played the beta phase 4 and liked it so much I pre-ordered the CE.
I will most likely play this until TOR releases
