paul hardcastle is one of my favorite jazz artists. he, unlike many i like, plays the keyboard and makes use of synthesizers. this particular song i'm going to put down is great music to get your s/o or newfound plaything into the mood. it's "homerun" music.
Ray Charles - I don't dislike him, but none of his songs really strike me as anything other than easy fun. Probably give him a 6 or 7 just in general.
Adagio for Strings - One of my favorite orcehstral pieces! My wife played it in her orchestra last year (exactly a year to this week that is) and I recognized it back then without hearing the title. Of course, I'm ashamed to say I know it best from the movie "Platoon". 9/10
Here's a Gershwin classic - Rhapsody in Blue. Was used in Disney's Fantasia 2000 for a skit as well.
Hand in Hand - Veragroove 7/10 Smooth song. Glad you pointed out this two raggae musics, ive completly forgot it existed. Not that i dont like it.
Veruca Salt - Earthcrosser 6/10 I dont dislike it, but i (learned to) like heavy music better (thanks to you, in part)
"Also keep in mind the rating is not how talented I think the artist is but how much I like it." Cactus-Man
This is a very good point. I forgot to mention it and i agree with it. At least from my perspective, the ratings depend on the tastes and not exactly wether or not the band are good/talented or not.
So, ye dont forget. When you see my ratings, what they are saying is 0( i hate it) to 10(eargasm) and not 0(they are rubbish) 10 (one of the most talented bands on the world).
Tad - Grease Box 7/10 I like the song. The lyrics are a bit odd tho. Fourteen guns in your hotel and stuff, guess with that instrumentals, anything they say is going to be awesome.
John Legends & The roots - Can´t write left handed 8/10 Absolutely love it dude. Well to start with, The roots are one of my favorite bands, just by itself i imagined that the song was going to be decent. Then we have John Legend wich is a really good singer, and works in alot of diferent genres. He has already worked with T.I ("slideshow"), with The magnetic man ("going nowhere") between others. And the thing is, all the songs he has (at least the ones i listened) are really dope. So its to join a band with alot of experience and a singer with a wide range of styles, meaning he can adapt himself to almost anything (but not metal and stuff i guess). What could go wrong right. Also, the roots remind me of Jimmy Fallon. Watched everysingle show of that man, im so fkin sad the show went off.
Paul hardcastle - Desire 8/10 Didnt know that this is jazz music. Relaxing one. When i am doing my drawings i try to listen to this type of music, it really gets me in the mood to do a good work.
"Ray Charles - I don't dislike him, but none of his songs really strike me as anything other than easy fun. Probably give him a 6 or 7 just in general." Lerxst
No comon, you cant give him six, thats just unfair!!!! (jk)

Say to your wife, that i respect her. I wish i had the skills to play (this) on a orchestra. Well, im even more ashamed to say that i didnt watch that movie, im so fkin rugged. But i will, i will.
Bernstein - Gershwin 9/10 ahah great great song my friend. I dont know why, but i think i never listened to a classic song wich i didnt like. Maybe is because the high doses of nostalgia i get when i listen to them (thanks to Mafia and Mafia2) or maybe its just to see all the effort they put on this orchestras and all dressed on smokings and such. Well i dont know, but thanks alot for this one
Another great work from this artist. This is the only kind of dubstep i listen to (some exceptions included). This dubstep has something in it more than bass. It gets repetitive tho (not as much as normal dubsteps).
yeah, now i've broken the rules set in place at the beginning of this thread. i just heard this song by dave koz. it blew me away. some of the comments left on the youtube page link say it's his best piece. i'm in 100% agreement.
Here's a different one compared to all of the other songs I've posted on this thread. Sometimes music alone isn't what I listen to a particular band/artist. In this case, Moby's one of those rare people I just like as a human being - still plays small "intimate" club settings, lets many of his songs be used free of copyright infringements, loves animals and is a vegan.
Plus... even with the highly techno style, most of his songs still use real instruments.
I'd like to start this post with an awesome pic I found on the 'net...
Each of these is the singer for a band I'm a fan of, and so I've decided to use it as the basis for this post...
'Push Button' by Stolen Babies. I'd describe this band as Oingo Boingo meets Mr. Bungle meets Guano Apes... with an accordion. Love this band's style. Awesome stuff.
I don't like it, but the clown chick is unbelievably hot. I'd stomach a show just to see her up close.
Also, feel free to revoke my man-card, but I like this band, they talented;
Brian Culbertson - Sensuality 8/10 M, so this is jazz? I dont know jazz, but in my calm songs category, this is probably the best one.
Boney James - Stop, Look, Listen (To your heart) 9/10 You know what i said about the last song? i like this more. I can imagine myself on a smoking suit, at a classic fancy bar, smoking a expensive cuban cigar, talking to a woman. No but seriously, even tho it doesnt teleport me to that world, it defiantly gets me out of this world for a while. I even want to buy myself a sax (wish will be gone by the end of the song but still).
"yeah, now i've broken the rules set in place at the beginning of this thread"
Nah, this is a friendly place, theres no rules (dont take this too literally, try to keep ontopic at least eheh), i just tried to set some guidelines to help guiding the way we are sailing on this thread. Personally, if someone posts like 10 songs at the same time, i just go -.- mode but hey i´d rather want that than not posting at all. This thread is BY and FOR people who want to share their tastes and maybe expand their horizons. If you feel you have to post 3 or 4, i can say nothing but go ahead, post those soundwaves. I´ll be more than glad to listen to them (i think).
Dave Koz - I believe 8/10 Everything that i said for the above songs. Also, you earned Trio Explosivo achievement (Three awesome songs (Aka 8/10+ songs) on the same post).
Moby ft Gwen Stefani 6/10 i like your hard musics better !! And gwen, whats made of her?
Fair to midland 7/10 Why would you revoke your man-card dude. They are pretty good.
You wont understand the lyrics, but maybe you like the song, who knows. If i want the definition of TRUENESS on songs (not cars clothes girls stuff, AKA lil wayne etc.), this is the defenition of it. Also, not rare are the times where he introduces things like a old man saying´s, or a discussion between his drunk grandfather and a neighbor wich i find really original, even for a MC, a rapper.
Search for the meaning of the lyrics, try to understand them, and then you earned Ex abundanctia enim cordis os loquitur achievement (listen to a true rap song, that is awesome).

Been absent for a while so I thought I would make it up with this little melody:
Violin Concerto #3 Straussburg - Part of the soundtrack to "Master and Commander"... a brilliant movie with a brilliant soundtrack! No, really, I love that movie... in case you couldn't tell!
Violin concerto #3 Straussburg 8/10 Surely you made it up...i didnt even notice you were gone... No, jokes aside. If powerade existed as a music form, this could be it. But its sad that it comes in a 100ml bottle (instead of the normal 500ml bottle).
To those who didnt understand the pun (paronomasia) what i mean is that i find this song really energetic (violin mostly) but (imo) this song should be longer (only 1:20)
Relative to the movie, didnt watch it, but if you say you love it, at least its worth the shot. I tell you something about it later
Thanks for the welcome My online time has been limited lately.
The shortness was made up by the rest of the soundtrack, which is all various violin and cello concertos (if the credits are accurate, Yo-Yo Ma is also featured on one piece). The movie, is probably one of the most historically and technically accurate, non-bullshit, seafaring adventure I've seen to date. Paul Bettany really makes it though. Too bad Pirates of the Carribbean came out at the same time
just stumbled across this song by the movement. it's called "mexico." i hadn't ever heard of the movement before tonight. i had to take a look at their website to check out their tour dates. they're coming to portland, oregon on july 20th. after hearing this song and other songs on the album it's from. i have come to the conclusion that i must see them live!
its long, but a good sorta jammy progressive metal song. the whole album is about moby dick, and this song is the final encounter where they all die. basically a song about drowning.
of the 2 singer the band uses, i prefer the guy in this song over the more nasally/higher pitched guy that sings most of the time. as usaul i'm probably in the minority when it somes to vocalists
the struggle to free myself from restraints becomes my very shackles
You really want to expand your horizons? I find the melody, poetry, and singing in this song incredibly beautiful. But it's not something you'll ever see on VH1, so be warned.
It's the credits song from Moulin Rouge, Bolero, and one of my favorite classical pieces of all time. It gets pretty awesomely dramatic at the end, and is very well written (it is, however, a credits piece, so the bit in the middle can be a little long XD).
As a Rush fan, you can imagine how annoyed I get when I look it up and find the freakin' disco movie!
Xanadu... what an awesome song. I've gained a recent love for Rush since I saw that at their Snakes and Arrows concert a few years ago. They're one of the most talented bands in history, and I like almost every one of their songs (also, I have yet to see a concert even close to par with these guys :O)

Welcome to the dark side :P I've posted several videos on here already but here's one last one. Considering their music spans almost 40 years and about half a dozen genres, there's a hell of a lot to listen to! Neil Peart's lyrics have always been the catch for me and some of the topics like WWII concentration camps:
Growing up my family moved all the time. I went to 26 differet schools, before starting High School. People and places had begun to seem like, just an interesting conversation, soon forgotten.
I had dreamed of settling down, and having a family of my own, but knew inside it would never happen.
About the time I struck out on my own, this song was popular. And weirdly enough, until this very day, whenever I have the vehicle, packed, hit the road and turn on the radio, it's the song that is playing.
Song is about two crows who find the dead body of a knight betrayed and murdered by his wife who has a new lover. The crows are less concerned by the morality of the issue than how they can eat him or use his hair to build their nest. But where his white bones are buried, the wind shall blow forever more.

Neil Peart's lyrics have always been the catch for me and some of the topics like WWII concentration camps:
Red Sector A
All that we can do is just survive
All that we can do to help ourselves is stay alive
Ragged lines of ragged grey
Skeletons, they shuffle away
Shouting guards and smoking guns
Will cut down the unlucky ones
I clutch the wire fence until my fingers bleed
A wound that will not heal
A heart that cannot feel
Hoping that the horror will recede
Hoping that tomorrow we'll all be freed
Sickness to insanity
Prayer to profanity
Days and weeks and months go by
Don't feel the hunger
Too weak to cry
I hear the sound of gunfire at the prison gate
Are the liberators here?
Do I hope or do I fear?
For my father and my brother, it's too late
But I must help my mother stand up straight
Are we the last ones left alive?
Are we the only human beings to survive?
Growing up my family moved all the time. I went to 26 differet schools, before starting High School. People and places had begun to seem like, just an interesting conversation, soon forgotten.
I had dreamed of settling down, and having a family of my own, but knew inside it would never happen.

Old Scottish ballad. Was raised on this stuff.
The Twa Corbies (the two crows)
Song is about two crows who find the dead body of a knight betrayed and murdered by his wife who has a new lover. The crows are less concerned by the morality of the issue than how they can eat him or use his hair to build their nest. But where his white bones are buried, the wind shall blow forever more.
Beautiful, tragic and fucking Scottish.
