Hello,
First off I am not trying to troll or anything just vent a little steam. I preordered the game and waited up all night for my pre-order to be charged to my debit card as it was approved at the initial pre-order. I didn't get any notification of the pre-order so I went to bed.
I woke up this morning all excited about being able to play and check my email and I am informed my debit card was declined at time of purchase.Since then I have been tyring to purcahse the game via download distro via SOE store only to find out that my debit card is declined again. I go to their billing support FAQ and in short terms they blame the bank and to call the bank. I call my bank and they say it is not on their end, my cell phone company just did their monthly bill pay.
I have been trying to call sony for the pass hour and a half only to get a busy signal and been waiting to speak with chat rep. just as long... My point is if this is how they do transactions do I really want to be paying them monthly. Do I really want to work with them so to speak.
What frustrates me even more is that my old man plays EQ and has for years and has been paying with a debit card every month since he started.
I really love the game, loved the beta, first game I've been willing to pay to play but now I am not so sure. I am not so sure I want to actually trust them with my money since they seem not to want it anyways..

So dont play.
LOL I thought there might be something related to the gameplay, but its just you whining about your debit card being declined.
I feel ya brah. I pre-ordered from Target and then got an email this morning that my shipment would be delayed until March 17th. After a bunch of emails and calling back and forth, Target now is saying they 'sold out' of the game. That I pre-ordered. let that sink in.
After all the hubub and realizing that my pre-order goodies (which is why I ordered from Target specifically anyway) aren't going to come to light, kinda takes the wind from my sails on worrying about playing at all now.
Dunno why I figured SOE might launch something properly in the first place. And I DO currently blame this on SOE since older news items say that Target was only doing pre-orders for the PS3 version but SOE's site showed and gave a link to pre-order the (regular) PC version that I followed to order it with. Either it was done last minute and SOE dropped the ball with getting Target the product they were pre-selling in time for launch, or Target was taking orders for something they knew they couldn't honor. Probably a little bit of both to be honest. Either way, SOE or Target isn't getting any of my money for a while, if ever again.
Also, I've had the same issue with SOE before with my card doing weird stuff. One time I was double billed and it took weeks to get straightened out and also the 'your card is declined' even though there was no reason for it to be. SOE sent me off to yell at my bank, which said nothing on their end was screwy and then after more calls to SOE it miraculously fixed itself. They reintroduced an old bug to the billing system with the launch of DCUO is what happened here.
Played: Asheron's Call(still the best fantasy MMO!), EQ1, EQ2, Vanguard, DAoC, Horizons, City of Heroes/Villians, WoW (crap), LOTORO, D&D Online, Eve, Anarchy Online, and still playing SWG daily.
First off, the title is a bit misleading. I'm sorry you are having issues...but remember. In the grand scheme of things they are temporary. (Yes, you can't get in on launch day...but if you were to play this game for a couple months...this would only be a minor inconvinience) I too get annoyed when I can't get things solved in a single day between multiple parties. I've had this issue before though, and I work in software dealing with this stuff. I'm pretty sure it's not Sony's fault actually. Don't blame the game. There are always reasons that a card won't go through. I had this happen with a CC once and it was due to the area of the purchase being made that was on some sort of temporary restriction.
When you call the debit company again (you should call again), ask them why the transaction was declined. They will see the transaction "Attempted" to go through, even if it failed. If they have NO record of it coming through at all within 24 hours, then something went bonkers in SOE's software.

Yeah, SOE does drop the ball quite a bit. That's stupid that they put that up there. But again, as I said above, no reason to really blame the game. In fact, the team that handled putting that page there at SOE probably has nothing to do with customer service which would help you if you had a problem. So, the logic to drop the game completely based on Target's fail and the web designers at SOE doesn't really pan out. I'll totally agree Sony makes retarded decisions. But just think twice before dropping games because of NON customer support issues. If you get a CSR who completely screws you, then yeah. At least you can say "I'm done with this crappy support and refuse to subscribe any further".

I understand your frustration with your order but....
Why would you pre-order from Target when there are several online stores to order from? Just saying....
To the OP sounds like alot more is going on with your debit card than meets the eye.

So far the bank is seeing no record of the attempted transaction..
Why not just go to a store and pickup a copy? Call the bank and make sure they do not authorize a charge from SOE and your all good.
I ordered from Target specifically because they had the pre-order trinkets I wanted as exclusives. As for dropping the game because of a CS related issue it is because I have not yet had a postive experience with SOE and their customer service. I was going to pick it up since it would go onto my Station Access account and not really cost me anything more to play per month, but I'm actually disappointed in the game in it's current state for the PC anyway (I played in beta for quite a while.) Straw on the camel's back more or less.

Yeah, I was just gonna say...probably better off doing that. If what you are saying is accurate, the store will be fine with the debit card even. Just be careful as some CC companies will not only block 1 transaction, but will actually block SOE until told otherwise. Of course, you'd then need to worry about subscriptions in this case.

lol would go to the store if i wasn't paralyzed from the waist down...
Thats kinda pathetic to have a negative post about a game on launch day when its your debit card that is messed up and not the game. Seriously, I know its frustrating, but the reason your mad is because you cant play. Dont take it out on the game that made you excited in the first place. Also a tip, if your having issues with your debit card and you want a PC client, you can also use Steam, or D2D. I know I have never had any issues with my debit card on steam. I wish you the best of luck!
