First off, is this better than CO?

How about zone sizes?  My one beef with CoX were the boundaries placed in the various cities and zones.  Is DCUO different?  Is there any sense of exploration?

What about loot & crafting?

Any player economy to speak of?

Prolly pointless to ask, but is there any player or faction housing/bases?

Is this your classic tank, DPS, healer & CC type of set up, or are the powersets more blended?

Is there interactive/destructible environments?

Thanks in advance!

The zones are huge, i personally had a ton of fun exploring and i never even explored everything during the beta. A downside that people pointed out is that currently there are only 2 zones. I dunno, that doesnt get me down because theyre giganitc.

    Crafting: i hope never.

Player economy: only played beta and didnt see any reason or need for one but im sure itll be there

Housing: dunno, dont care, not in the game now

The game has the option for your typical dps/heal/tank set up however i read a lot of complaints in that area concerning tanks and their agro and healers and not having enough power to heal. From what ive read the group system could probably use a little help.

I did a few "dungeon" runs (i guess dungeons) in beta and i just remember when we got knocked out we'd run back to the boss and continue the fight. Wasnt really an issue other than having to run back every time so i dunno.

Yes theres interactive and destructible environments.

     Thanks dude!  Encouraging answers :)

    What about loot?

Is it heavily instanced, or are the missions/quests static in the open world?

I think the biggest open world deal is gonna be pvp. Ive never been a pvp fan (it mostly bores me) until i played this game. This is a game i can find myself enjoying pvp in. I love the idea of being a super hero or villain and goin around blasting my enemies. There are quests out in the world but i assume thats just a normal part of their story you know. I dont know if theyll have random quests to do.

There are very small fun rewars for exploring, you can find them everywhere. There are areas with Information collections. you collect 4-6 of these pieces and you earn some kind of reward for it. I didnt pay much attention to these rewards, honestly i was just having a blast running around and just playing.

Also besides the information collections you can find randomly placed ill call them "treasures" which give you a piece of loot or 2 just for finding them.

The few times i did a dungeon i didnt pay much attention to loot, the games very fast paced i wasnt following along because i didnt really care. lol Just having a blast!

As far as i can tell theres a good balance of instances and world gameplay however i assume that most of the world gameplay after level cap would be pvp.

Really depends on what your looking for.  graphics yay.  powersets/costume choices no.

    Zones are pretty big.

What about loot & crafting?  No crafting, ever according to SOE

Any player economy to speak of?  too early to tell.  questing can get you loads of cash

Prolly pointless to ask, but is there any player or faction housing/bases?  No. unless you count the Watchtower or hall of doom a place to hang out/train/trade

Is this your classic tank, DPS, healer & CC type of set up, or are the powersets more blended? it has the roles.  if you want to tank you have to be Fire or ice, healing you have to be magic or nature, if you want to cc you need to be gadgets or mental

Is there interactive/destructible environments?  Not really, there is a very limited amount of stuff you can pick up and throw.  you have to spend a point in super strength to throw cars.

    Thanks in advance!

Pretty good loot.  You'll have a good set of greens between lvls 5-7 real early on.

I like it better than CO, but the travel powers LESS than CO (if that makes sense).

No crafting as of yet.  They didn't want the being stuffed down our throat half completed so they pulled IT and the AH out for the moment.

The environments tend to blow up, be picked up, and otherwise used to bash your victims skulls in.

Each spec has multiple things it could be good at.  So you are a healer, controller, dps, and tank all rolled into one. Once you choose your role your powers gain extra features based on the role.  Pretty swanky.

    No player housing atm.

Just do me a HUGE HUGE HUGE favor:

Don't log on to the PvP server unless you acknowledge that you WILL be ganked.  It WILL happen, don't act surprised when it does.  Today I was playing my lvl 5 techy/acrobat and a lvl 14 stunned me, I broke stun, stunned him with a sticky bomb to his face, and did NOT let him break from stun attacks.  He was quickly KO'd.  He had taken a bunch of lowbie heroes with him before he jumped me.  When I logged a few minutes ago there was a raid sized group of villains running around just absolutely TEARING it up.  It happens, avoid if you don't wanna fight, fight if you do.  Doesn't help or hurt you in the long run and dying makes you pay for repairs.

Understand... it may be day 2.. but there are people who stayed up all night just to have a lvl 30 so they could beat lvl 3's in the face.  Dunno why, it serves no purpose but they exist.  Expect it.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing :)

I intend to roll on a PvP server, and will take your warnings to heart.  What about quests/missions?  Are these all instanced, or do they take place in the open world?  I dislike heavy instancing...

In beta getting to level 20 was mostly done in the outside world (on my part), theres plenty of lower level instances that get you into the story and the fun of being a super powered being.

I think youd be happy with it, you dont have to do the instances although some quests will specifically send you to one.

However if you ever want to do "end game" youll probably have to do instances. :p

it's not heavily instanced but there are some and they are well done.  the scarecrow fight is pretty cool.  The open world quests feel alot like PQ's in warhammer but they aren't cooperative like warhammer.  Right now with so much low level population there's alot of objective stealing and such so it's a bit frustrating.

The area 51 objective map thing is pretty fun.  Did a little pvp in the australia map, it was a bit confusing at first as to what to do but you pick it up.

Great to hear!  Sounding more and more like my type of game.  Its good SOE finally learned that larger worlds are the only way to go.

I am anxious to see what kind of content will be deployed by SOE.  This is one area they are very good at.  They certainly have enough to work with having the DC IP.
