Hey there. So yesterday I started playing and got to like level 6 or so and got a new skill but its a combo. It says to hold the left mouse button and hit > then hold the left mouse button and hit ^ then >. WTF does this mean. Are those the directional movement keys? I can't perform this damn combo b/c I don't know what keys those are referring to. Should I hold the mouse button and move my mouse to the right and then let go and hold it again and move it up and then to the right? I'm really unaware of how the hell to do this combo and it doesn't explain it very well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My keybinds are also very unconventional because im a lefty. I use the numpad to move so my 456 and 8 button are my directional movements. Thanks so much in advance for the help.

Eesh, I'm left handed and I just can't grasp what you're saying to me right now about your layout. Anyways, some combos for rifle, like the flamethrower require you to be close to an enemy to perform, and tbh I don't play rifle that much, but you need to hit them relatively close to eachother. Someone with more experience might be able to help you more, but try the same thing next to an enemy and see if it improves.
Out of all the weapons I've used, I used the rifle the least. Just isn't my bag.
Yeah flamethrower took me forever to figure out. You HAVE to be right next to a mob or nothing happens at all and the description is nto real clear. If you are not directly next to a mob then you simply execute some other combo. So its literally impossible to practice it out ahead of time
Some of the other combo I never quite figured out. They say click and forward then have a second one that says click then go to the right direction. Click then forward worked fine as a roll then shoot, but the second bit about going to the side Icould jnever get to work at all and had no idea if it was meant to do anything. As far as Icould tell the combo itself was simply click then forward and the other bit was worthless.
Frankly some of the combo descriptions just sucked.
If you press F1 you can see how to use f.ex. flamethrower, it says you need to be near the target etc
Using original wire xbox 360 controller myself and its way easyer to pull combos off with it i think. So if i where you would look around to buy a cheap xbox 360 controller the game reacts way better with it. With all spells /combos it also highlights the button you need to press say hold 2x Y and release etc.
How does it know which combo you are wanting to use?

A good way to figure out what you wanna use for you next pwoer set... in you weapons skill list you can see what is locked and such. But say your brute force *the jsut straight up street/boxing style* and you can look in the skill list for dual wield and see what the combos is for that... also some combos have more than one way to pull them off.
I played this game in beta and really liked it and the action bar even with the 6 or so skills were fine for me since it required you to map the ones you really think are useful instead of 4 action bars with a gamut of skills in them.Reminded me of guildwars.
The thing that turned me off was not that but the mouse clicks. Click+hold+rightclick or click+click + hold and something like those. I managed them but I was not comfortable I wanted to map them onto my mouse in some way or to a key but that is not possible and although I really liked the game I ended up not buying it. A controller is out of the question for me because I am terrible with the analog stick even if I can manage the Dpad and the ABXY action buttons I only play RPGs on consoles. So much to my sadness I opted out of buying the game.
I read some combos for dual swords requiring 9 clicks even. Well I don't suppose anyone know any of the combos of weapons with the least amount of clicks ? I wish I could find some way to map the mouse clicks on something and it will also prolong the life of my hand and mouse.
easiest way to cure lefty is to smash the offending left hand repeatedly with a hammer, this will reprogram the brain to use the proper right hand.
The combo descriptions are STILL messed up? Jeez... I assumed they'd fix that before release.
For those confusing ones that say "away" and have arrows pointing all over the place... well.. just ignore that.
What it all amounts to is that some combos require you to be pushing towards your opponent or away from your opponent. It matter which direction you're facing. If you have the camera set up so you can face a different direction with your character than the direction of the camera you need to adjust the direction you are doing the combo. If your character is facing to the left, then towards the enemy is left, and away from enemy is right. If your camera always looks forward with your character then the combos will always be forward and backward for towards enemy and away from enemy.
The best example of this is the Rifle weapon set. There are two sets of attacks that use the same combo, but depend on if you are close or far away from the opponent.
1. If you are close to the enemy:
a) Flamethrower: hold mouse and push towards enemy. You must be right next to the enemy for this to fire off. I also suspect either it doesn't always work or that it works but the effect doesn't show up. Kind of buggy if you ask me.
b) Backflip attack: hold mouse and push away from enemy. The range for this one is between being right next to the enemy and being quite far away. In fact, if you don't have the mortar attack it'll always backflip no matter how far away you are from enemy.
2. If you are far away from enemy:
a) Forward roll attack: hold mouse and push towards enemy. This will work from far away all the way up until you are right next to the enemy. Once you're next to the enemy the Flamethrower attack (if you have it) is supposed to activate. But again, sometimes it doesn't seem to work.
b) Mortar attack: hold mouse and push away from enemy. This will only activate when you are quite far away from the enemy. If you are not far enough away you will first do the backflip attack. Once you are far enough away your character will look like he's trying to teabag someone and then fire off the mortar.
Some of the other weapon sets have completely wrong instructions. They'll say to click or hold the left mouse button but you actually have to click or hold the right mouse button. So if you're looking at the instructions and can't seem to get it to work right, try the other mouse button. BUGGY!! These mistakes were around for months up until the end. I'm assuming they're still there.
For combos in general, if you're having troubles getting them to work right just keep in mind there's a lot of timing involved. Each step of a combo you will want to start in the middle of the current animation basically. It's not click-click-hold. It's click.... click... hoooooolllld. it's not hold-hold. It's hooooollld.... hooooolllld.
Might help if you told us specifically which combo(the moves in the chain) you are trying to execute. I can test it tonight and answer you on it... Also, one of the f# keys brings up a combo cheat-sheet...
