In the early days of the automobile, there was innovation. Steering was done with a tiller, for example. Cars came in various shapes and sizes, and there was something new and fresh there. But then, Panhard et Levassor a French manufacturer that built cars in the late 1800's came up with steering wheels, front-mounted engines, clutched transmissions, and other more "modern" features, and every car that's come out since then has been a Panhard clone.
Why can't we go back to the good old days when car manufacturers weren't scared to try something new and innovative? Seems like they just go with what the mass market wants nowadays, and all cars just look and work the same.
...
Yeah, this is what happens when you've got insomnia.

I think the engines are in the front because it's a crumple zone for a head on collision, which is by far the most dangerous wreck you can have.
There are plenty of innovative cars on the road, unfortunately most of them look like ass like the stupid Tissue Box. That's why they don't try to come up with completely radical car designs, people don't buy them. Alot more money is spent on the development of a car today, than it did in the 20's and 30's. There are alot of cars throughout history who never sold more than 100 to 200 models, even though they were produced in mass. Today, that would be a major major loss on the manufacturers side.
You do realize this was a piss-take on the whole WoW clone argument, right? I couldn't get to sleep and I was starting to feel the effects of the Tylenol PM I'd taken about 15 minutes before posting that.

Yup.
Being that cars cost alot more than Games, people are less inclined to buy "Innovative" cars and the manufacturers are less likely to recoup their losses.
However, if you put the right spin on a stupid car people will buy it. Look at the tissue boxes all over the road and their Gangsta advertising.
