I have never wished for a game to die, I do hate some games yes. Totally think some game companies should never be allowed near another IP yes. We have several game companies currently that should be put of to pasture and those IP's handed over to a company who can handle them a lot better. Cryptic being the worst violator.
I never met a person that truly passionately wanted a game to die, the worst I've ever seen is someone mentioning a game should die without an explanation why. If I ever met someone that started rioting, vandalising or burning games like some idiots literally did to a type of music, I would ignore those losers and hope they never reproduce with there adamant hate for a type of entertainment.
So I should care about people protecting their own asses when they don't protect their own that get screwed over by their employers?
Tiggs got screwed over by SOE and what did her fellow devlopers do? Did they protest, did they stand in solidarity, did they do anything that merited other people giving a crap about them and wanting to help them? HELL NO! They sat on their asses and cowered in fear as one of their own was fired for no good reason.
Why should I care about people who will not even stand up for themselves? I mean they obviously don't care about themselves, so why should I care about them?
And don't tell me about unemployment, because I have been basically working under the table jobs for years now and it ain't because I am trying to avoid taxes. It is because all that is left to me as employment is day laborer work. You want me to stand up for you, then you better at least stand up for your own.

Why would I want an MMORPG to die? 2 simple reasons.
1) How badly the devs handle the game and players. Direction of development / patching going in nonsensical directions. Changes that you know everybody will hate. Utter disregard for the customers. You name it, there's more. SOE is a great, sheisty example.
2) If the game is that bad and uses an established IP, that usually means nobody else will have a shot at putting out another MMORPG using that IP & setting. As someone pointed out, Star Trek is a gleaming example of this with the utterly worthless STO. Nobody's going to be even working on a new (and hopefully better take) Star Trek MMORPG anytime soon since STO is out now. If SWG can linger on after amputating off its own playerbase years ago, then I'd say STO can still do the same.
Which is a shame for me as a big fan of the franchise / IP.
