GW1 Competitive PvP was quite popular among Koreans. Most of the top guilds were Korean, and most tournaments were won by Koreans.
The problem is that the Koreans now have TERA and I doubt NCsoft will bother marketing the game to the Eastern audience, as much as they are planning to market it to the Western audience. With little marketing comes little awareness.
One more reason for NCsoft to market GW2 in Korea to compete against Tera popularity, also they are developing Blade & Soul and believe me koreans will tell about that game
More likely Tera and perhaps Blade & Soul will hurt Aion in the eastern markets. I believe I read that they don't plan to release GW2 in Asia at the same time as in the western markets.
and to a good reason, if NCsoft launches GW2 in Asia when Blade & Soul releases both products should interfere with each other
I am really thinking of getting aion, I really like the graphics and I KNOW they do not make the game but I really like the effects that go along, good animations, animated clothing etc. All that stuff just brings the world to life. Id much watch the wind blow my charaters cloak around then watch stiff blurry jerky movements of some MMOs.
In otherwords, I just love atmosphere. However, guildwars 2 is coming out in aprox a year? and it looks to have great graphics and due to guildwars 2 it will be pretty well known. probably more popular than aion though you do see it beside WoW in walmart. However as far as I know guildwars 2 will not be subscription, What I am hoping is that aion keeps recieving updates to keep it on par to GW2 and is not just half dropped to support the newest game in the fashion F2P games do.
Another question somewhat slightly related. Do you think Aion or any other P2P game, feel free to name one will keep getting graphics update? we saw the WoW update with judging on videos seemed more like a gimicky, Buy the game its now has upgraded graphics! even though they are not much better at all except for water.
Most of this stuff matters little but as a avid PC gamer I would dislike investing weeks or months of my time and at minimum 130$ish into a game that will just be left in the dust in a year.
I truly think a large part of the mass appeal of WoW is the fact its been going strong for 6 years and with millions of players It will probably be going strong for another 6, enabling people to pour years of their lives into the game knowing it will not all disapear in a year.
no , don't get aion because aion sucks, wait for guild wars 2 better, that simple
I played AION a bit in the bigining, i heard it got a lot better. Maybe I'll go back to it. Either way I could sub AION and play GW2. GW2 will be a very competitive title and i guess it will affect all other MMOs regarding player numbers. So yes AION will suffer as well as all other mmos should expect a significant lowering of subscriptions.

For me, comparing GW2 to Tera is like comparing a comicbook to a manga

Aion kills it's self so I really dont see the need for GW2 to partiipate either way.
