A few beta videos that may be of interest

SkorcherSkorcher Member UncommonPosts: 22

I have linked a few vids that I found on YouTube that may be of interest to some people...

The game visuals look pretty nice, and the person (Chris from GameStrafe) offers some decent commentary as well.

I especially found the interface video useful, as it provided a little insight of what to expect for those people not in beta.

Cheers!

I have been loosly following this game for awhile now and was interested in the gameplay concepts and setting for it.

Too bad everything I have read about it has been negative. Sounds like another game releasing half baked, and there have been far far too many of those in recent years.

I will be following it some and hope they can shape it up in the next year or so, might be worth what they are asking for the box and the sub then.

Videos dont look bad, some of the scenery looks pretty good actually. Just dont think its worth the AAA title cost and sub for an incomplete game that still needs alot of work. Good concepts and potential only go so far.

I wish them luck and all the best, the genre could really use a game like this. I personally just wont pay for anymore incomplete games with " potential".

Thanks for the videos. It just proved all the negative stuff about the game being said in the forums here. It just convinced me not to waste my time with the game. Looks to bland as far as the environments and combat wow! Totally boring. Sorry to be so negative, but Tabula Rasa looked better.

I have been following this game off and on as well, and found these videos offered some valuable insight.  Originally, my expectations for the game were quite low, so the visuals and game play were a pleasant surprise. Even though the pricing model may be a little out of whack given the current state of the game,  I will show my support, and give this game a shot on day one.

Here is another Beta video from Massively . com (MassivelyTV), with commentary from Editor-in-Chief Shawn Schuster (aprox 1hr long)

I thought that this was a nice tidbit of information mentioned earlier by Agricola1 in another thread... " Concerning the movement problems, if you hit the tab key it will put the arrow (exploration mode) or reticule (combat mode) dead center and lock it. So you can swing your char around freely with your mouse and move with WASD, also you can strafe with QE."

I was honestly hoping these videos would change my mind about not buying this game, I've been watching Earth Rise for a very long time now.  Since it was first announced even, and after seeing that first preview video I thought this was going to be the game for me.  Even after watching the videos they released themselves, I just told myself that it's only because it was Alpha/Beta footage.  But let's face it...  Doing that to yourself, is the reason so many half-assed games are released these days.  When we see content that looks broken in videos that are supposed to be advertising the product I think everybody who plans, or has hopes to play the game need to voice their concerns.

After watching these videos, all I can say is...  Damn.  It.  Not the game I was looking for, the combat in the desert video just looked horrible.  I'm not pleased at all.  I hate myself for getting so pumped up for this title.  Luckily my interest died down months ago, but at least I still have Guild Wars 2 and TERA to look forward to.

I like to complain about games.
  • Those videos were very informative. The game definitely looks like it could be great at some point. The interface, and the numerous skills, show promise.

The desert video pretty much convinced me to stay far far away, at least for now. There is just no content. It really looks like a tech demo.

I was on the fence as well, but just recently decided to try the game on day one.  I really do not know what to expect, as the videos show both the good and the bad, so I am looking forward to finding out first hand. At least these videos will help people make a somewhat informed decision to hold off or jump in.  It all boils down to expectations... mine were extremely low (originally based on one of the very first  PVP videos released by the developer), so I am going in with an open mind and relaxed attitude.  That said, if the game is as broken as some people say, I may pause and come back to it later on in the year.

note: I stuck with Neocron 1 from launch until Dome of York was released, because for me, the game play and community over shadowed most of it's shortcomings... I guess you could say I have patience but I do have my limits  ;)

Nothing wrong at all with supporting a game and buying it day 1 in the hopes it will improve.

I have done it myself a few times.

In the case of Earthrise I really hope this game improves and becomes a worthy title in the genre. I hope it has enough fans initially to keep it afloat. IMO they are making a mistake releasing in a beta state with the current MMO market, but I still wish them luck =)

uped 2 videos of exploring the inside of a crashed pod ship that you see from one of the starting areas. You can also notice some bad game performance, and lively chat with Harabeck taking the frontlines of defense.

Honestly, the weapon sound effects in this game are rather unimpressive... sound like pop guns rather than threatening futuristic assault rifles. The graphics are neat though.
