Hi all.
I signed up yesterday and downloaded the game to try the beta out. Took me about 45 mins to download which wasnt bad at all. Once downloaded had to reststart my pc just to run the game. When the game starts up it seems to hang for a few minutes but eventually starts.
This is no review/preview, just a few comments.
This game has potential! real potential. combat was nothing new, pretty much SWG with a different skin. ( my experience is basic with no skills ) the scenery was real nice, graphics were great. Performance...so, so! I had a couple of CTD's through the night and had to relog due to a desync. When it desynced i hadnt realised and travelled for an hour across the world haha! at this stage i was thinking " great scenery, but it's really empty!" then someone told me i had desynced lol. but got to see a lot of the world. Some of the places i came across looked great pvp area's, like the waterworld style ramshack building down by the sea.
There were quite a few bugs with mobs shooting through walls when i couldnt target them. And had a few noobs following you around waiting for you to fight so they could shoot you in the back with no real threat to them ( Maddox if your listening i will grief you when we go live! Nothing makes me feel better than to grief cowards untill they moan ) Also i had a problem where in the first half an hour i couldnt turn around untill i relogged..strange bug that one. But other than that i have to say if they can fix the performance this could end up being a really addictive and fun game. Otherwise it could be another Vanguard, great game but terrible unrecoverable start.
My suggestion would be to hold of on that release date for a month or so and get it fixed. would be such a waste to see this much promise fail due to a bad start!

Pretty much my thoughts, except i bought it any way (its only around £25.00 from certain UK shops). I'll be hopping in tomorrow and begin progressing my char.
I'm confused, many sites say the game has already launched. Yet, many sites say the game is still in beta?
Which is it, has it launched or is it in open beta?
I won't be touching this title unless the latter, or I can get a free trial. It's made a horrible impression so far.
The Theory of Conservative Conservation of Ignorant Stupidity:
Having a different opinion must mean you're a troll.
Wait a month or so if you're on the fence, just don't come here bashing it and giving it 'fail' awards without giving it a hance. If you have some disposable income or desperate for at least something to play, jump in. I'm the latter, so got it, been following the game for years. Will no doubt update MMORPG with mini reviews/impressions/status of the game.
It comes out tomorrow.
I've been watching Earthrise videos whole day and so far I'm not very impressed. The game seems to have quite huge problems and it's suppose to be launching... hmmm tomorrow is it?
HERE's one clip from Massively. Watching that kinda made me feel bad for Masthead. You are not supposed to have desyncs, shadow glitches, broken animations etc so close on launch. But then again, maybe that beta client is dated and they have a Jesus-patch around the corner. The one that fixes most of the annoyances.
Anyways, if Tabula Rasa died, which was great game in my opinion, then Earthrise is going to have a hard time. Don't get me wrong, I truly hope this game is the scifi mmorpg we all so desperately crave for.
So far the mmorpg offering is just pure BS and I hope Earthrise has something new to bring on the table. At least it's not another fantasy themed mmorpg, I'm kinda fed up with that.
Good luck on your launch Earthrise! I'll be there no matter what.
that nub didnt know how to play. plus mus tof the major issues should be patched in the release client. only reason we didnt get it int he beta client was cause the beta client was so darn diffreant from the release client that it was waste of tiem to work on 2 diffreant patches
Stop lieing to people. The performance patch never arrived and a thread that became one of the largest on the beta forums asking about the performance patch was totally ignored. While the devs answered easy questioned. GM's ingame when asked were told that they can not talk about it.
That "Nub" was the head editor of massively and has played plenty of MMO's. If you think other users wont go through the same troubles you are dreaming. How are all the dysyncs -Graphics glitches-Lag-AI failure his fault. Its was painful to watch him go through and basically laugh at the game, but thats what the game deserves.
So when theres a big patch for release then what? masthead would be stupid not to get it as good as they could with the patch at release. im not saying its going to be perfect bya l means but it should be alot better
The game has performance issues. There is nothing anyone can say that would change that. I haven't actually died to them yet, but it was close a couple times.
I was on last night and during the hour or two I was on I had to wait many times for as much as a minute for the game to unfreeze, for the mobs to come back after running off into the ocean or the edge of a hill and for my attacks to actually start executing again. I had to logout twice so the npcs and mobs would not be invisible. A couple UI windows refused to leave my screen for a couple minutes no matter what I clicked.
The interesting thing is that the lag seemed to affect the stuff controlled by the server as much as it affected me. When mobs were obviously lagging and running off into the ocean, sometimes they would reappear in front of me, and sometimes they would run back from wherever they ran off to. Sometimes they would suddenly be dead because all my attacks executed at once, and sometimes they would just start losing health again as if nothing happened while everything was trying to catch up.
The game is surprisingly addictive and it does have tremendous potential, but if they don't get the performance issues fixed, none of that addictive game play or potential matters.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Releasing a big untested patch on launch day would be disastrous. Also when you release all those keys as a PR stunt then you would have the performance patch inplace, because at least 3000 of those testers who signed up didnt even get to play due to install/access issues and the remainder were plaqued with zone/server crashes and terrible lag/desyncs. What is a new player to think when they continually are getting killed by invisible mobs.
they do that during live games all the time this is what in house testing is for
This sounds like every new game in the last 10 years. Lag, desync issues, and poorly written code are what I have come to expect from mmo's. I would hope that everyone that has bought games on the first day only to regret their purchace would stop supporting any company that brings UNFINISHED, OR UNTESTED games to market. If you think a game has a future but know that it needs another 6 months of beta testing then tell everyone on these forums not to buy it, but to wait. Please justify your opinion with concrete examples and not name calling of another person's post.
Even though many companies bring a unfinished product to market , It is we the game buyers that can send the proper message to them and not buy their product untill it is finished.
we wouldnt be getting the game ever then
Couldn't agree more. We need to send a message to developers. Stop making promises you can not keep and stop releasing unfinished trash to your fans.
i dont think it can be helped
The more I think about this the more I just think: FFS!
The concept of this game is fantastic, the artwork is great and I like how so much of it works, but...
Why have the devs shafted themselves by launching so early!?!
It just reminds me of that scene in American Pie.
I'm most likely going to by this in the vain hope that a few bucks will help them get this game in shape before it's image is tarnished irreparably.
Such a shame. This is one game where dated graphics wouldn't have been an issue if they'd pulled the rest of the game off clean.

i think it will be fine as long as the major issue are fixed when the servers go up dysync dmz performance
You really believe this.....c'mon man get real lol.
That guy being a nub had nothing to do with how buggy and glitched that video looked. The animations were horrible, you can see it in the video. Like everyone, I felt that the game may have some potential when I played it, but it's in terrible shape for a realease game, and to beleive some magic patch or some mythical release server is going to make it go away is foolish.
well we will just have to see wont we a guild mate compared the code from the beta client and the release client they are way diffreant so we really just have to see
Not kind of addictive its just for fun.......
bleehhhh....
Because making a game is a business and they have to launch to keep the company afloat, get their wages and feed their kids.

It's also not a huge deal. The game is certainly coming along. Yes the latest beta client did indeed feel like the game was still in beta stages, but comparing it to MO is just a complete injustice - MO was pushed out horrifically early, that software felt Alpha at most. Earthrise has polish in many areas, but does still have some issues - it shows alot of promise.
This kind of game doesn't NEED to hit huge sales day1 and hold all its first month subscribers. It's a niche title from an indie developer. These kind of games generally chug along pretty nicely, and many players return for patches / hearing good words about it. Fallen Earth and more specifically EVE are prime examples of this.
That's just crazy talk and so damn selfish, why can't their whiny little kids go without food, clothing and shelter for 6 months? I mean is it really too much to ask that these developers stop thinking about themselves and their own vile brats for a bit so that we can have better peformance and a few extra quests on launch?
Sometimes I wonder what the world has come to, perhaps they just aren't as civilized in Bulgaria as we are in the rest of the world. Perhaps we need to send Nelson Mandela, the Dali Lama or Ang San su Kyi to teach them a lesson about self sacrifice for others. This kind of loathsome behaviour just disgusts me to the bone!

Yeah being a nub has always caused hitching and glitching. Oh, and it's never a 'waste of time' testing a new build of any software in fact it is pretty much always disastrous not too.
i repeat they push out new build of the game during release all the time
You can repeat what you like my friend but of course what you repeated was not what I commented on. Let me phrase it as a question. How can properly testing a new build (a miracle patch no less) be a 'waste or time'? How can a reviewers level of experience cause hitching and glitch?
