Looks like Battlefield 3 from DICE has been announced for release in Fall, and oh my it looks good! Can't wait to dust off my joystick and fly around in epic matches again! Looks like co-op campaign's are being added. Anybody else excited to get their hands on this game?

I can not wait for this. Not sure why anyone played COD anymore. 64 player maps will be insane can't wait. The only thing I am kind of questioning is them bringing Prone back. If they do they can not have the same easy sniper mechanics that BC2 has.
Yeah just make sure you have Vista or W7, cause from the last news I heard on it, it won't be playable on dx9.
They need to update BF1942 which was the original and best version of the battlefield series. The latest iterations rely too heavily on gimmicks.
If you don;t believe me, get a good group of friends who dont already have the mindset of such and such a game sucs because it is old, and then tell me the gameplay on that game isnt incredible.
I totally agree that BF1942 was the best, but usually nothing is ever as good as the original in most scenarios. I played a lot of BF2 back when it came out, which was when the whole "Rank" system was still very fresh to the FPS Online world.
After BF2142 I kind of lost interest in the franchise, then all the other ones that followed were of the same caliber for me. Hopefully they do it right with BF3 and keep it to the roots, that's where I had the most fun. With a deadly arsenal of airplanes and tanks everywhere, people actually had to use strategy to win. Here's to hope! *drink*

I was hardcore into BF2 and was part of a competitive gaming clan so yes I'm stoked for BF3! The Call of Duty formula for FPS gaming is fun for a while but nothing has captivated my bloodlust for an open playground full of vehicles like the Battlefield series has. I loved how I could just play the way I wanted. Sometimes I would run and gun and work hard to keep my KDR up and other times I would try to do new things like parachute from a heli onto an otherwise unreachable rooftop and snipe. Good times Might have to get a new PC for this one.
BF42 was amazing. I played that game, not off and on, but religiously for 3 years. It was solid. I like Bad Company 2, it's a good game, but it still doesn't capture 1942's perfect balance between vehicles and infantry, and maps. I mean dog fights in helicopters = lame. For air combat you really need to be before push button missiles to have any fun.
Also I miss naval combat, often you didn't really get too much going in that department in 42 but when you did it was a nice change of pace.
Also they had 64 man servers back in 42, the problem was they were laggy POS. If they actually make a 64 man server that ran smoothly then we are talking serious business here guys.
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.
It was a cool trailer, but it didn't leave me wanting Battlefield 3. In fact, it reminded me too much of Bad Company 2. To some is a good thing, but to me that's bad.
Bad Company 2 was no interest to me because every second in-game felt like you were in the middle of a battle. Since the engine caters to explosions, tracer fire, sounds and destructable buildings that's all you saw in game. I feel we're stuck in a 'visually gritty realism' trend because of the huge demand from games like Call of Duty (yes, I'm aware they aren't the first). It's like Michael Bay is making our games. ~ I hate having my ears constantly ring, hate having my head bobble like I'm on a race horse.. and most of all, I hate my gun feel like it's attached to my neck.
Though don't confuse me to be a 'true' Battlefield fanboy. While I obviously dislike Bad Company 2, I don't curse DICE or say the game sucks. I'm just not going to play it. If that's how Battlefield 3 is I'll go back to Battlefield 2.

Looks great, overall a great improvement over an existing awesome game BF: Bad Company 2.

Can't wait. I've played every BF game for the PC and enjoyed them all except for BF: Vietnam (BC2: Vietnam is fine). I even loved BF: Heroes before they ruined it. I pretty much spent my entire 9th grade year playing BF: 1942!
I hope it is awesome! I never had played battlefield before (Bad Company 2) and I was blown away (pun intended) but the world and everything.
I never was a huge fan of halo or call of duty, but I do love vehicals and I love Battlefield! I know your talking about PC version but I still play BF2(bad company) on my xbox360 all the time!
I hope Battlefield 3 is just as great and better!
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
Of the BF games, I've only done BF2 & 2142. Loved them both. Curious to see how BF3 turns out.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." Could be the game of the year, but I'm afraid it's too arcadey and consoley like Bad Company. BF2 is almost perfect balance between an arcade game and warfare simulation, in my opinion.
Hope they fixed the problems with 64man maps that BF2142 had, which forced them to revert to 32man titan maps.
Loved BF2142, probably the most fun I had in any game. If it's anything similiar I'd pick it up again (watch out DICE, I'd be coming back for more dogtags, too).

Can't bloody wait for this game.
I haven't like the last few CoD releases for PC, so this will be welcomed warmly here.
64 player maps. Amen.
Prone. Nice.
Add in 'lean' and that will be great stuff.
I agree that the BF series is my favorite shooter. I also find I am always a little miffed at EA (owners of DICE) for pulling the plug on support of the game shortly after launch. What I mean by this is that they stop patching and fixing little issues with the games. I also think that EA/DICE have had a history of releasing BF games that are not quite finished and are a little buggy or poorly balanced in some cases. Does this mean I would not purchase BF3? No, I will be in line and purchase it....but I don't expect it to be "perfect" out of the box.
Let's party like it is 1863!
