I am asking, because I don't see anyone really saying anything about it, this was the biggest gripe people seemed to have, that was atleast changeable.
My computer fried and the warrenty company bought me a replacement for my older computer, everything is decent, but I wasn't thrilled with the graphics card I got, I had a 260gtx, and they gave me a GTS 450, guess their isn't a ton of difference, but it seems the older card was better. The computer was 2 years old, so it was nice to get a better processor and windows 7, verse vista.
So here are my specs:
GTS 450 1 gig, 8gb memory, i7 870 2.93 ghz, windows 7 64bit, very common hd/drive, nothing is overlcocked/tweaked.
I was getting 18-25 FPS from beta 1-5 on ultra, a couple average improvement on beta 5, I logged into beta 6 and I get 38-46 FPS now on ultra, everything as it was, shadows ect... So seems like they are making some leeway, not sure if it is accross all platforms, video cards ect...
Just posting this for people that had problems, with basically a 20 FPS jump for me from beta 5 to 6, if it was bad for you before, it may have gotten better, or atleast its some encouragement.
p.s.
I don't care if you hate the game, engine, quests, graphics ect... Just posting the info....For those that performance steered them away, that it may be better for them now, and to check it out. I was shocked at my jump, I figured I would maybe get 10 more at most by launch or shortly after launch, when some background stuff was maybe off and it was more optimized.
I was considering getting a better graphics card, but I can live with 38-40 as a low side average on ultra.

It's a shame Rift can only use 2gb of your ram
Only 2mb , wow thats low
I hadn't heard the 2mb thing, so can't say its true or not, but if so, then hopefully it leaves room for more gains.
i just mistyped. hehe
A 32bit application can only use 2gb of ram, even on a 64 bit OS.
Thats the same as most all games... Any 32 bit application has that limitation.

I've seen a massive increase in performance on my system:)
Yes, true I have noticed the boost also.... once again Trion showed us they realy care about the game and they are listening to the community. This is what make this game great, the developers potential.
It is funny when I first started playing in beta 1 I really hated this game and was about ready to walk away from it. I'd get maybe 15fps with most everything turned off on a 64 bit quad core system with top of the line graphics card. But with each beta it has gotten a bit better. I know when I was playing I said that the game was crap and a waste of time. NO game performance ever gets better when it is in beta a month or two before release. Well having been in tons of betas that was my solid experience. Today I'm upto around 30 fps with everything on and even with antialiasing on. So I stand here in amazement.

I've only been in this beta and the last, so I can't say anything for certain, but it does seem to be performing better for me.
Groovy.
