Solo player questions

olepiolepi Member EpicPosts: 3,017

I just got the game, and wondered about some solo player questions:

1) how can a solo player safely store items?

2) can a solo player place a Totem? Does this protect the player or the items?

3) Do you think solo playing is a viable playstyle?

4) if a solo player builds a structure, can it be destroyed or take over by others?

    welcome to the game!

    1)  the basketry craft allows you to make bins to store your items in that you can then place on the ground.  (set permissions by right clicking them on the ground)

    2)  i'm not too sure about this one these days.  i think they are trying to do away with 1 person tribes.  you might have better luck asking about that on the forums.

    3)   solo can be viable if you are indeed able to make a 1 person tribe.  if you are, you'd probably have to travel around and trade with people to get tools you need.  bigger tribes allow people to specialize and gives the tribe access to more tools.

    4)   in prelude, your tribe's area are safezones.  but once again, not sure what they are planning to do with the 1 person tribes after launch.

    edit:

After the final wipe and launch, only tribes with 10 members or more can place a totem.  that number might be lowered but after a few days, solo players will be able to set up homesteads.   you'll probably have to root around a bit or ask the guides in game for more info.  try the /h channel

I'm just starting the game, but I think solo will be a tough road.  Just to craft 1 item you usually need various bits and pieces which will be much easier when you have several mates gathering different resources and crafting different skill sets.  You can always trade for these things, but I think it will be much easier in a Tribe.

Being in a tribe will make the game much easyer for you but its compleetly possible to play solo aswell.

took me two long days(8hours min)  to master toolcraft build me a" house "and some other stuff. What I could not make at start I traded for.

Live version will be harder as chat will be restricted, global chat will be gone, local chat will be very local. thus you need to go out and meet your nabours.

Curently in prelude ( will last about 6 months after the game will go live)  tribe(group) / homestead (solo)  land will be your save zone, after that it will most likely be removed (save zones) and anyting not in secure containers or accesable can be stolen. ( pile of logs, your scrapmetal pile.stuff liek that) and you can be attact and looted , its a full loot game.  ( got killed today while chatting by some joker and he left me naket in the world.)

while the game is full loot its not just a pvp game.. its a game whita story, chapters , prelude is the first and ts about rebuilding , means the focus lies on crafting, making tribes and stuff like that, hence the save zones.  as the game grows the land mass grows and there be less restriction to pvp.

a exsample of the growing game would be, currentlyyou need o scavage junk piles to find the stuff you need, from cloth and metal to blades and axe heads.  at some point all this scrap will be used and there will be nothing left, by then we will have learned how to farm and mine to find resorces we can use to make what we once had to scavage for.
