120hz 40" or 60hz 46" for ps3 gaming?

So I'm ready to buy my first real TV and I've decided to get a Sony Bravia. The problem is that I cannot for the life of me pick between these two.
ex 400 46" 1080p 60hz
ex 500 40" 1080p 120hz
Now from the research I have done it seems that 120hz actually looks "unatural" to most people while gaming and they turn it off. I will almost exclusively be using this TV for gaming so I'm guessing 120hz isn't a big deal for me. BUT everybody says that 120hz does make movies look much better. So on the few occasions I watch shows/movies on the tv the 120hz will be nice.
So I'm really at a loss. Thoughts?

Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.

If your gonna be gaming alot, id say go with 60hz. The difference in quality when it comes to movies is hardly notice able to the average person. Since your main use of the tv is going to be gaming. Dont forget about the contrast ratio either!
Eloborate please? I'm guessing this has something to do with 16:9 or 16:10? Not really sure what it all means : /

Oh no go with the 120hz, The picture will be so much more clear and smoother. Watch a bluray movie on a 60hz tv and then watch one on a 120hz tv. you will see a HUGE difference that. I just recently upgraded from a Toshiba 37" 60hz tv to a Samsung 120hz 47" and omg the difference is so noticable you wont beable to believe it. Avatar looks so much more amazing, you almost get motion sickness from how smooth the camera pans.
16:9 or 16:10 is the aspect ratio of the television, usally yi'd say you should go with a 16:9 since thats the "normal" standard for both movies and games and since it can only operate at 1080p at max or 720p for that matter which is a 16:9 aspect ratio you should go with that to avoid a strectched picture (though this is barely noticable with a 16:10 anyway ;P)
The contrast ratio is something that looks like 50000:1 or 20000:1 or something along those lines.. usally it says "dynamic contrast" the higher the number the better
edit: Also, yes above 100hz TV's is reccommendable as the picture qualiaty in movement and such gets a lot better.

The higher, the better.
120Hz can be used to play 3D from a computer (using Nvidia tech) but 60hz can not. (unsure about promised Ati 3D)
It might be wise to see what 3D technology is appearing for television and otehr sources and whether sticking to the 120Hz is a better investment for that purpose.
Bah, so many varying answers : ( Do you guys not agree that gaming at 120hz seems unatural? And I feel like an extra 6" screen would be an even trade for not having 120hz?

moving image starts at 25fps
but
In fast camara moves you can see diffrence up to 200 fps i belive.
Go 120Hz seriously, it is way better. If you thought the 120Hz was less natural then you may have been duped by how they looked in the store (remember things such as contrast, colour and so forth can be manipulated) especially if they sit them side by side and want you to buy the larger model.
120Hz makes little difference with television as HDTV is bradcast at 60Hz, however bluray or computers will make a difference to your viewing becasue these adjust to the new frequency to make the scene smoother.
I haven't actually played a ps3 on a 120hz tv myself, but seraching many gaming forums has told me that a lot of gamers find that it looks unnatural playing on 120hz and they typically turn it off. I guess it's because ps3 can only put out 60hz so the tv forcfully doubling this makes it look strange?

I have both a 60hz and a 120, I rather play on the 60Hz.
The issue comes from the focusing speed, the 120Hz usually focuses first on what is closer to the viewer ( front of scene) or middle image, so the rest of the picture looks unatural to some(me included) .
It does not mean is a bad thing , some people feel is more lifelike. so its' a matter of personal preference. To me it looks like the image is superimposed (sp) like a bad Photoshop job.
Compare a 120 Hz tv next to a 60Hz tv and pick one . Afterall You are the one playing the games!
Both of my TV's are Samsung .
you need to make sure that its "true" 120hz because if its one of the older models that advertise at 120hz, you'll be dissappointed and would be as better off with the 60hz
You need to worry more about the response time than the refresh rate.
How far away will you be sitting? This will dictate the size.

I have a 42" Vizio 240hz 4 ms response time and sit about 10 feet away and I will have to sit up in my La Z boy to read some of the menus. I think I need a 55" lol.
Seriously though the lower the respnse time the better. But a tv with both low response time and 120hz refresh is your best bet.

OK so it looks like I can't go for the 46" anyways. I've got amazon credit and it has to be used on an item sold by Amazon. So 60hz is out anyways because I've narrowed it down to these two:

Now I know the panasonic seems like much more bang for my buck (same specs, 2" bigger screen) but I've got a few gripes. For starters, is the Panasonic screen going to be matte or glossy? I much prefer a matte screen, which the Sony is. Secondly, I like the form factor of the Sony much more. With that being said, the Panasonic IS $100 cheaper.
But how do the two compare picture-wise? Any thoughts?
