Well I plan on returning on the 1st and would be very interested in starting new I have played since PS2 launch but seem to take time off from the game right after expansion launches so never really got to fully do my missions. I don't want to but if needed I can bring my main over to help.
I just recently ordered the ultimate collection for the 360. i am very excited to give this game a try with all of you on titan.Your description of just old school exploration and what sounds like a generally good community has me very excited for this game to arrive at my doorstep lol.
I just bought it on steam, a little late for the 5 dollar deal, I see that it includes POL, which will be nice because I loathe and detest steam. I'd like to play with you all, as no one I know can see anything other than WoW in the market today.

Saw this post a couple day ago and got really excited. I bought the collection over Steam, but it keeps shooting POL-1158 errors at me when I try to update. Running it on my PS3 now and it's all updated finally (near release copy of base game). I should be on later tonight. Hopefully I can catch one of you guys for a LS pearl. I've been off and on with FFXI for a couple years but never found people to play with on Kujata then Valafor. Been wanting to get further for a long time now and it looks like I can finally do that. See you guys in game!
A lot of people are getting these errors on Steam. On the Steam forums they said to download the official POL client from the ffxi website. I did that and it worked. Important note, don't go back and use the steam link for FFXI, it will break your new POL install, and you'll have to download and patch all over again. The patching is not fun and takes forever.

Just got an email from customer support and I got the typical, make sure your have the right login, make sure you have an internet connect, and make sure your router is properly configured. Tried what you suggested and it's downloading the patch right now. You weren't kidding about the time though, 8 hours left ugh. I might just get on my PS3 and play and hold off on updating till bedtime. Thanks again though.
Do you guys have many nighttime lurkers? My friend and I have just reactivated our subs but as Australians, we're a bit stuck on Asura right now finding people to play with... With the new adjustments we're managing to progress at a steady pace but it'd be nice to be able to have people to form parties, etc. with!

I logged off tonight at 11:00 p.m (Arizona, US time) and there we still quite a few people online. The LS is growing fast, it seems like there's always people on.

Today was a blast! Literally I played like I was a 20 year old again after getting going today. Lots of good people in the linkshell, and the nostalgia of playhing ffxi from scratch was almost overwhelming!

An officer in LS who invite me lives in Guam so I think we will have enough people to form parties if you guys join us...
I joined the ranks of FFXI yesterday and I am enjoying my experience so far. My Character's name is Psyclone and he is a lvl 5 hume warrior and my locale at this time is San d'Oria. I look foward to meeting the rest of you.
It really is a great guild to join up with. Lots of knowledgeable people and there normally is something to do if you ask. Today for instance got 8 levels just out in the dunes with a linkshell party. Was a ton of great fun. Hope more join our growing family.
I've tried FFXI about three or four times now. Even bought it on Steam. But always give up because I couldn't find newbies like myself to get together with. That and the fact there's no new player tutorial so I never had a clue what to do and gave up after a week or so. But something draws me back to the game for another go every year or two.
I'm willing to give it another go if it's with a good group of mates from the start.

I ended up grouping with two TOTALLY new people to FFXI who were level 14, and got them invited into the linkshell.
We have a really robust linkshell right now, it seems, a good spread of levels and helpful people.
