Their new policy states NO MORE REFUNDS, so I'm one of the unlucky ones that were too late.

Feel free to troll and complain as much as you want, but I'd prefer constructive criticism instead.

    PROs:

Good mix of PVP and Sandbox (at least on paper)

Look again.   Xsyon was never designed as a FFA arena like DF or MO were (sole purpose in those games is to kil, kill, kill and kill some more)  Combat isn't the main staple of the game so PvP shouldn't be on its top list of features.

    Great storyline and atmosphere

Actually, short of being in the aftermath of some apocalyptic event, there is no story.

Graphics are better than Wurm Online/Haven and Hearth and to some extent even Darkfall Online

    Amazing community as of now

    CONs:

Bugged beyond measure and most features are usually either disabled or not working well. At this point the game isn't even beta. Most people are also scared shitless on what's going to happen on the release date, with doomsayers screaming the end of the server and possibly a serious crash due to the excess of users.

Game has its bugs, but I don't see a multi-million dollar publisher helping to back them up.  This reads, to me, as a person who's been spoiled on "complete" titles.  For those games, you need to play WoW or Rift, there are no publishers out there risking their necks (or bank accounts) on games like this these days.

The Devs are honest and open with the player base.  Honestly, that's the main reason I pre-ordered the game.  Too many games promise the world and then lie through their teeth when it comes to the delivery.  Xsyon has been open and honest about everything that's been done or gone wrong.

Jordi seems to be rather democratic in his decision making process (could be good) but sometimes he does seem to get lost in the opinions of others.  So far though, he's come back around to the original direction the game was supposed to be heading without changing it too drastically.  People coming from the open PvP world of DF get pissed off at the game they assumed would be like the one they left, despite the description not even looking remotely close to it though.

I also wonder how many Betas you've tested if you think this is closer to Alpha.  I've done a lot of both.  In an Alpha test, you can't even come close to playing a game with the game - you can only perform a couple actions to see what happens basically.  In Xsyon, you can actually build structures, terraform the land, craft items and interact with others.

Too expensive for the quality of the game (indie developer or not, you have to have a product to sell and Xsyon is not enough)

Have you ever heard of a little gem called Mortal Online?  Xsyon is a god-send by comparison!  Again... no major publisher... small niche gaming community... not going to be up to the WoW standard.

Very indecisive developers with experience of failing and running away in their previous MMO, Roma Victor.

See my response to the first point in this section.

What looked great on paper, doesn't really work well in this game so far.

Ummm... how do you know?  Are you playing a game none of us are?  The game I've been playing is still adding features and making changes.

    Horrible lag at times.

Ok, so when the "System" comes on and tells you they are doing a stress test and want you to intentionally create lag, you're going to hold it against them for creating lag to fix the game (which, by the way, it has)?

Stubborn devs that tend to listen to the wrong ideas and ignore the good ones. It's sad because the things that have worked in other sandbox/pvp games are not implemented in Xsyon and are being ignored, which will most likely cause it's downfall.

Again, I detect the tone of a person expecting Darkfall in this game.  It's NOT Darkfall.  As I said before, he does tend to get lost in the sea of opinions, but the game has progressed in the direction it was intended.  If you think it's been altered too much, then it means you didn't realize what the game was to begin with.

Big freaking lake in the middle, taking up 30% of the land (if not more). That lake is totally useless and could have been used for more tribes to settle, especially with the importance of land in the game. Instead it's just there for aesthetic and geographical purposes, but has no real function in the game. Most tribles will probably end up settling around the lake and since it's impossible to build islands (like in Wurm or Minecraft), it will never be settled or used otherwise.

The game is set on Earth.  Real, life landscape.  A world taken directly from geogrpahical surveys of the area it claims to be.  This is like complaining about Fallout 3 because of all those darm monuments all over the place.  If you wanted a fantasy world, choose form the plethora of games already out there.  This is one of the only MMO's to attempt mapping out a real geographic region with a degree of accuracy.

PVP sucks right now. Motion/sounds/battle dynamics are boohring and unfair.

And thisis the reason they're getting a specialist in to revamp the combat system - it's one of those thigns still being developed... and we've all been told about it... no surprises here.

Not enough things to build compared to other games of its type. Haven and Hearth has more things to do and is free, so why bother paying 15$/ month for this? If you care about graphics, go Wurm, it's in 3d as well and it's cheaper too with hundreds of things to do and great community too.

Wurm... you even comapred it to Wurm... really?  Last I checked, there were about 12 people logged in to Wurm at any given time.  This game is in a seperate league.  You must also be playing a different game than I am.  last I checked, you chop a tree down, chop it into blocks, craft those into components and then combine those to create an item.

Secondly - it's "Prelude".  They have said multiple times that technology will advance with the game.  This means more recipes and more features.  This isn't going to be a static game like all the other MMOs around.

Do yourself a favor.  If you're going to compare this game to another, play Fallen Earth, then come back here and rethink this last paragraph.

So the best thing to do right now is, if you haven't bought it yet, wait until the lag/bugs are no longer there and wait till they release a trial version, so you get the feel for what it;s like.

You ask the impossible.  You're basically telling peopel to let he game fail before they try it out.  A better suggestion wodul have been:  Know what you're getting in to.  This game has a lot of bugs that are being worked on steadily - with results.  An honest development team, that wants input from players and a rich crafting system combined with an "under constrtuction" PvP system.

It's not a complete, mainstream game like many others are.  It hasn't been out for 12+ months in a full-release form like others in its genre either, so there are unfinished features and bugs still plaguing areas.

Since this is an indie developer, it will take them much longer than a big company to solve all these problems and to make the game playable.

False.  They fixed the lag in a matter of a week and pinpointed the cause in just a couple of days.  They were also open about sharing their efforts with the community.

"Stubborn devs that tend to listen to the wrong ideas and ignore the good ones."

You lost me at this one pal, I smell a troll. Sentence above is pure flaming, and it does not make sense except to troll the game (for whatever reason you have). They are stubborn but listen to wrong people? Flaw in logic, try better next time. I'm not even going to list rest of your logical blunders in your post, this one is enough.

You don't like Xsyon? Fine. You don't have to spend your money on it. I know I will as Xsyon suits my gaming preferences.

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.

I'm with Spiider on this one, the game really stands out to me. Therefore im going purchase it, if you don't want it then don't buy it. And if you did buy it and are complaining because its not your type of game, then you should look into researching games before spending cold hard $$ on them.

oh my god. you aren't the brightest crayon in the box, eh?

oh, and xsyon really is horrible. i played it for two weeks and it was the most boring game i've ever played in my entire life. that's not even mentioning the bugs, lag, downtime, etc. i made an honest post about it on this forum, titled 'great game, in two years.' if you're interested in another unbiased opinion, check it out. i bought the game with the highest hopes of it being the amazing sandbox i'd been waiting for. no, i didn't care about the pvp being laughable. i cared about the fact that there is literally nothing to do in this game. so glad i got a refund. refunds for two seperate accounts, actually. i feel bad for those of you that can no longer get a refund, because this game is DEFINITELY going to fail. i'm sorry to the fanbois, i'm not trying to upset you. oh well, i suppose. such is the life of a fanboi.

EDIT: now that I think of it, you'd probably have way more fun grabbing a shovel from your garage and digging out a huge hole in your backyard. you would probably be done with the real life hole before you finish any terraforming in xsyon, and you would have had more fun, burned some calories, and lived a little.
