In MMO's I think that "world drops" for any item that isnt just the best thing ever is just frustrating. I hate playing games like wow and Aion where you would want to grind a certain item, say new and bigger bags, but its a world drop on all humanoids. Especially things like recipies for low level crafting, yes make that a world drop so by the time I actually get it with some other character they will have lost any use for it..
If its an exceptional piece of weaponry that will last a very long time in your characters progression, fine but anything short of that, can we leave this idea behind please?

I don't remember any great world drops in Aion? they do have named that dropped epics out in the world and random spawn named for certain rare items. i farmed one named Mamamoth thing that dropped a leather tunic i wanted for over a week camping for hours at a time till i got it.idk how many times i killed him before he actually dropped the tunic. and my guild use to farm the Marmu (sp?) chieftans for hours and hours for weeks till they spawned and even then didn't always drop the items we wanted. if anything Aion was more like the old MMOs with rare spawns to farm, hell even rare raid WORLD spawns.
with ya on WoW tho i do remember epics dropping off anything around the items level, my last stint i had got a wardens staff wich use to be the cats ass for druids but i couldn't even give the thing away now lol couple of other epics i remember that was like that one was a dagger, now that i think of it did they add anymore random epic world drops? all the ones i can think of was from Vanilla?
It's sort of the exact opposite.
World Drops as Best Items Ever = "You are forced to endlessly grind for these items. Have fun." -Oppressive Game Designer
World Drops as Pretty Damn Good = "BONUS! 21k gold on the AH, baby!" -Elated player
World Drops as uncommon stuff = "Oh, cool, a blue I can probably sell pretty well on the AH." -Happy player
No clue what game you played that was bad enough to have bag drops gained primarily through rare world drops. Certainly not WOW.
