Worst graphic performance after earthrise is rift.

ZefireZefire Member Posts: 676

I recently bought this game and i run on gtx 580 sc sli latest beta drivers with 980x processor 120 hz monitor alienware 2310.

To begin with i m starting to believe that this game is not even made for full hd monitors.

While the game is fun to play at least till gw2 comes out or sth else the graphics engine makes your eyes get tired very soon.

It's so blury and the textures are not clear while it runs at 60-80 fps it performs as im having 30-40 fps.

Sorry guys to dissapoint you but graphics performance is one of the worst i ve ever seen.

I really liked to continue playing but i cant because the game does not look clear.

!@##$ (It's not fuking clear i cant believe this is happening on a full hd monitor)

The funny thing is that inside rift forums people are not resub because the game graphics performs horrible.

That may be your problem. I run it on a ati 5850 with the latest drivers (not beta) and don't have any of the issues you are complinging about.

I play age of conan lord of the rings online startrek online flawlesly and very clear with v sync on and i cant play rift which has worse graphics than these games.Even wow graphics looks more clear than rift and doesnt make your eyes pain after a few hours.

The point is that the engine they have created is horrible.

Even if i liked the game i cant continue because of this.

RIft is very badly optimised atm.  There are alot of issues that need fixing in the coming weeks and months if this game is gonna consider to be viable sub based game.  Atm its less value than most free to play games when it comes to higher lvls.

I have tried all the possible combinations but the game performs like trash.

Lord of the rings online performs better on everything maxed out including aa and af and vsync than rift's low settings.I cant believe this is happening.

No mate i tried the non beta latest drivers and it performs the same.

I don't know about that. While the frame rate is low, it doesn't dip at all when there is tons of action in your screen. Basically if you have something like 50 fps when standing alone somewhere, you'll have a couple fps drop with 100s mobs, 100s players and effects flying all over the place.

I would call this weirdly optimised.

Also the game is crystal clear. I'm not sure what the OP has configured wrong with his computer, so let me post my screenshot link once again :)

You properly cleaned your system of drivers between installs? Ran driver cleaner safe mode all that crap and still no difference? Somehow I doubt you've tried it all but I'm entitled to my opinion.

I run the game with everything but supersampling on. For some reason that is the only option that takes my computer from running smoothly to arbitrarily chugging when you turn the camera.

I have a GeForce GTS 250. Graphics turned up Max.

Not a bit of lag even in huge raids. look nice and crisp to me.

Maybe its a  You Issue. I would get a hold of support.

I think the graphics are fine, textures need some work tho, and more vibrant colors.

Even I think that Rift is ALMOST the same shity theme park game like any other on the market, I was really  impressed with the great performance and the polish in the open beta. I really do not understand how peoples can talk about bad performance in RIFT...

I would call that properly optimized.  Why run a game at 200 Hz (FPS) on a monitor that operates at 50 Hz?  I can see running a simulation such that it performs multiple simulation passes per frame, but not software that generates more frames than the hardware can display.

I have a slightly older computer and am having the same problems as the OP.  My computer has run everything I have thrown at it, an at nearly the highest settings, with few problems, prior to Rift.  But Rift chugs and hitches and looks terrible, even at low settings.

Overall, I suspect it is terribly optimized.  For players with newer game cards (say, premium graphics cards less than two years old) it may perform well, but everyone else is likely to have problems.

I also find it difficult to play due to busy and distracting graphics with too many lighting and special effects, bu that is more of an issue with art direction than with graphics performance.

I don't have this problem either even when there are a lot of people on screen during an invasion my setting all maxed the fps drops to about 25 but I don't have any issues I still can cast and stuff and considering I am playing from Europe on a US server I shoudl lag more but don't. Of course places where I am alone I get over 100 fps.

Like some other are saying, the game runs crystal clear for me as well. I use an HD4870 on a 27" samsung monitor on custom ultra setting with 45-50fps in small groups, 35 in large rifts. I can see everything beautifully without lag. Maybe you should change up some settings or stop trolling?

Hmm, I'm playing Rift on a moderately expensive gaming laptop (nothing special) and I'm not seeing many issues.  Either I'm lucky or just less picky, but I have no complaints.

BTW, stop looking at the FPS meter, all that matters is if it looks good on your screen.

I am playing on a 3 year old laptop with no issue other than things slow down when my graphics card gets hot. Solution? I got a usb cooler and now it's not an issue. My card is not new or even a great old card.

    Core2duo 2.53Ghz

    ATI hd3870

    8 Gb Ram

not stellar, but I adjusted the options and run the game on medium settings and I get 60fps in most places and 30 in busy/rifts. I am sorry you are having trouble with it and I know our anecdotes don't prove or disprove the level of optimization. Unfortunately as we move away from last gen graphics and gameplay we will see games that require better equipment to run well. It is the nature of ever evolving gaming. This is why consoles are so popular. Good luck.

Q6600 quad core cpu with 4gig ram and a nvidia gtx470 running on ultra and getting 30+fps in crowded area and about 40 to 50fps in less populated area's.

altough i must say that the engine does have some problems me thinks......other games i get around 60 or 70+ fps.

Excuse my ignorance, but even after all these years of playing, I never understood the fps argument/benchmark.  Motion pictures are filmed at 24 fps.  They look fine to me.  Everything looks sharp and the frames blend.  I've played games where I receive 30 fps and others where I receive 60 but don't notice any of the differences you say.

So I'm really wondering what frames per second over the 24 mark, add to the gameplay.

I'm running Rift on moderate graphics setting using a Geforce 8800GT at 2048 x 1536 resolution. I get decent FPS, and only ever have noticeable slowdowns during invasion boss fights when there's 60+ players all nuking.

    Graphics seem fine for me.
