thafireballthafireball Member Posts: 200

Hey there,

Finally got my machine up and running but the case fan is moving at a extremely slow pace to the point that I recieved the system fan has failed! message after startup. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

System:

M2N68 - LA Motherboard

550 Watt Rocketfish PS

AMD phenom Quadcore processor

6 Gig Ram

Nvidia 9800 GT

It could be as simple as that the fan is broken and needs to be replaced.  Fortunately, fans are cheap to replace, provided that the case didn't do some weird custom thing that makes it impractical to replace the fan.

On the other hand, the case fan?  As in, only one, for a system that might put out about 300 W if you include power supply inefficiencies?  That might be fine if it's a 200 mm fan, but most cases with only one fan make it a small fan.  Regardless, you should replace the fan, and perhaps buy a second case fan if there's a spot to put it.

I'd just replace it, not many reasons that it would work but spin too slowly that make any sense.
