Neume - Are you guys going to implement a function to protect people who create symbols, music, or just user created stuff with the abilty to make it unsellable? Cause right now people are stealing peoples designs of the AH and reselling them as their own. Is this something you guys are OK with? I know people don't own the rights to stuff they create but I don't think its unfair to spend hours creating something only to have somone resell your work on the AH.
pure racing or pure shooting will never work in this game... its a mix of both and 100% pvp. wish people would look into other games that fit them the best instead of trying to make APB into codnfswowyahoogames STAY AWAY FROM APB YOU FREAKING CAREBEARS! you destroyed enough games trying to make them easier for you

nobody said anything about making APB "pure racing or pure shooting"... only ADDING the ability to have races... numpty
Are there any plans to now or in the future add aditional hitboxes to cars and trucks to allow the player to shoot out the tires or shoot through windsheilds, this is somthing that was also asked durring the RTW beta so im not sure if it was brought up yet with the G1 version.

i belive they have mentioned this as being not possible at the moment the way the meshes work. would be a big technical project if they were to try.

It also would be illogical to do. You'll have trolls shooting out civilian tires and etc, as well as it would make vehicles pretty useless if they can blow out your tire easily.
Originally posted by Lurr Hey there, can i just first say, APB is pretty much my all time favourite game, I LOVED the way it was just before RTW switched the servers off (after the very last patch), but at the same time, im enjoying watching the game evolve into something new. I was one of the people rooting for a racing district back in the RTW days, and now theres talk of adding street racing im getting rather excited.
My question is, how will the racing work? will players be able to create their own races? i.e. set down waypoints on the map that all racers must pass through, therefore making it possible for players to create their own racetracks very quickly and easily. I used to have races with friends around both the financial and waterfront districts and created some great circuits on both, ESPECIALLY Financial though. i would love to be able to use these circuits i came up with in a proper race, not just a "hey guys, follow me.. ill show you the track then we race" sort of thing, that only works with friends who agree to play by the "rules".
ALSO, what are the plans for the vehicles in respect to racing? can all participants "borrow" a car just for the length of the race? It wouldn't seem very fair to have a race with a few people in Jerichos and bishadas and a few in starter cars etc, is it possible for all the people in the race to be temporarily put in the same vehicle? (could be great fun to have 10 player dumptruck races just for the sh**s and giggles =D)
In general though, great work guys, there are deffinately still some issues, but im sure you are aware of them and they will all be sorted eventually .
over and out.
P.S. please include the ability to place bets on the racing. P.S.P.S. TEAM RACES! 1 drives, 1 shoots the other players! if a car is blown up they spawn again in the same vehicle in the spot they were blown up in, but after a 2 second delay maybe. would be VERY interesting although.. no doubt VERY difficult to implement without creating a ton of problems.
We're still talking a lot about racing. There are really 2 formats to racing we want to do: 1. Street Racing in the Action Districts and 2. Launch a new district that racing only.
For Street Racing there will be different races based on specific car types. These will be pre-defined races through-out each district that you can initiate an run with other players.
For the Racing District we are still discussing how it will work. Personally I think there are a lot of great racing games out there (and we're releasing another one with Victory: Age of Racing). For APB, I think it is important it feels like APB. So one thing I would love is the feeling of teaming up with friends in the same car and blowing opponents out the window.
HOWEVER - The reason we want to do a specific racing district is to reduce the number of elements on the screen and increase the general speed of vehicles. This may lead to a situation where hanging out a window and shooting are not really effective or fun. We're hoping to give it a shot and see what happens though. It is HIGHLY likely you'll hear us talk - A LOT - about racing this year.

I didn't respond in the thread on the CB forums about this but I did take note. We'll talk about this after we get OBT live.

No, this will decrease performance greatly for pretty much every person playing the game. It just isn't worth it.

if no guns are permanent... how will be able to have more than weapon on call? long/short range and anti vehicle weapons? also the toy gun for when you want to have fun? game requires more than 1 gun type

And the free to play overkill transition begins. Luckily since they, well, ruined the entire upgrade system, I don't even need to buy 1 slotted anything or upgrades. All I'll need is field supply char upgrade, mobile resupply vehicle upgrade for my 1 slot mikro and I'm good. Weapons will be annoying as hell though, probably going to have to stick to OCA HVR and STAR only.
hi, any way to look like this or any other metal gear online character in APB? (don't own a ps3 but they looks so awesome!)
cheers.
Yes you can, there is a beret, ring tee, slim bulletproof vest, combat pants, leather gloves, sunglasses and gun holster on side of your right leg. So you can actually make ane ntire character in-game. Just no kneepads or backpack.
Neume, when are you guys going to fix matchmaking? I've played for a few hours but everytime I get an opposed mission I just sigh, because I always end up getting opposed to people with 40+ higher ranks then me, including upgrades and all. It's just no fun getting killed every single time ...

Considering there was a wipe yesterday, everybody is on the same playing field, so you either haven't been on in a few days or don't know what you're talking about. Matchmaking is supposed to be in one of the upcoming patches, but the 'opposed to people with 40+ higher rank' is an irrelevant point, since even if they were your level, good chance they win since this game is shooter based, not gear based.
I read all these questions and the blog posts about the new updates, but didn't see this issue address.
My friend and I returned APB the first day because of a very flawed game mechanic (on top of the other issues that made the game unplayable). I can't remember what they were called but there were these control missions that you could go on where you would have to be in a circle on the ground and maintain that point until the time ran out. This was such a bad game design. People would drive a car in at the very last second, run you over, and win the entire mission with zero effort. I remember one time my friend and I were playing against one other player in one of these missions. We were constantly in the circle and killing him every time he came close. Then we didn't see him for a while and at the very last second, he drove an ambulance in. I think I died and my friend dodged so he wouldn't die. Then the player parked the ambulance, taking up the entire circle, and automatically won the mission. This doesn't reward skill or teamwork. I don't believe you get any rewards for owning the circle the entire time and then losing, not that that is the point. This is just an incredibly bad mechanic that promotes griefing and makes players hate the game. Has any of this been addressed?

No, those kinds of missions are still there, but IMO the person you went up against was clever in doing that. You were playing 2v1 and you're calling it unfair? He used strategy to beat the odds, the game mechanics allow someone the chance to win even towards the end. Obviously if he died multiple times trying to attrition his way through and it wasn't working, heaven forbid he try something else.
Holding the spot for 90% of the mission doesn't guarantee you a win, it has to be in your possession by the end of the timer, those are just the rules.
Perhaps that's a bad example, but if you don't see what is wrong with that mechanic, then I doubt I will convince you. This also happened to me when no one was around. Capping the point and then at the very last second some one comes in from behind and takes it. With NO chance of getting it back. I was once the only person for the entire control mission and some guy ran directly at the point at the last second with a truck. I had to move or die. So I moved and he won. He got all the rewards and I got nothing. This happened many times during that one day. It's a completely unfair mechanic and makes no sense. Saying 2 vs 1 is unfair is well and good, but instant win isn't either. Holding the point for one second doesn't not equal holding the point for ten minutes, no matter how "clever" you think that is. I guess I won't be playing then.

1. you dont need to stand in the point the whole time, the smart player captures it then goes and finds a good vantage point overlooking the capture area.
2. that last second rush with a vehicle is easily combatted with a well timed grenade.
3. APB is a brilliant game and should not be missed out on because of one little mission type you dont like.

I already asked this.
They're using the X-Box Live TrueSkill matchmaking system while simultaneously making levels and gear not as important as they used to be. Now it's fairer and even more skill-based than ever.
I still believe it is an entirely broken mechanic, and it was indicitive of an entirely broken game. Maybe I am being ridiculous and butthurt, I don't know, but it was enough for me and several of my friends to quit and we won't be returning. I'm sur ethere are ways to combat this, but these were the very first missions I did and it left such a poor taste in my mouth, I highly doubt I could have been the only one. There is a much better way about doing this that many games already employ. It seems like a lazy and poor choice. I can't think of any other game where your entire win is based upon 1 second of holding a point.

you cant copy off designs directly, even when your refurb it dosent let you make copies
whats happening is people doing the same designs on their own, which you cant really protect against

preciate the update .. . 1.5 will be EPIC!!!
re 1.5.0 patchL will i ever be able to permanetly buy a weapon? whats the price compared to the permament weapons before? 10 days really

Question: Will we be able to bind crouch to 'hold' instead of toggle from inside the game or do we have to change it in the .ini file still?
