Skill based is good....but I hope they don't over do it in rebalancing everything.

I want my levels and equipment to matter <.<

You still earn rewards even if you lose, you don't end up with nothing. But I digress, because I know the game strikes a bad chord with a LOT of people because it can be extremely anger-inducing. Small team competitive games seem to have that effect.

I know when I'm grouping with my clan mates in APB we do 10-15 missions before one of them gets frustrated because we lost 1-2 of the missions out of our entire run and leaves. Once one leaves, the rest leave =P.

Always frustrating when you're left groupless. Most of the randoms I've partied with have been real cool, though. Always friendly on VoiP.

Also, another question. Will we ever have the option of "Switching seats" in vehicles? I know it's a pain in the butt to have to get out of a vehicle, run around to the other side, and then get in if you accidentally get in the wrong side during a big battle or frantic get-a-way.

That usually happens to me, but it's more of a series of imbalanced missions such as cfb and mission ends after you join, item hold where you're on other side of the world, or it's item hold and they just killed your team and the item is in the exact spot they just completed their objective at, giving them a huge advantage to get away, or something like the enemy just has to do an objective and has no lives. Right now I have successfully ragequit for hours since 1.5 from crashing 5 minutes within being in-game. i haven't finished a single mission.

    Do cars still unrealistically explode?

This myth has been busted on Mythbusters episode 15 and was revisited on episode 38 with the same results. A car, even if filled with gas and turned into swiss cheese by a minigun, will not explode unless filled with explosives, it will simply catch on fire and cease to run.

Personally I could do without exploding cars. Being able to use them as cover would be useful and realistic, even if it completely disables your car, at least it saved your life. Blowing up a car to get a kill is the cheapest and laziest way ever to get a kill and it turns cars into nothing more than portable hazards.

I actually liked that you can blow up cars, it just adds to the hectic combat by removing a piece of cover and turning it into a mine. If GTA got any more realistic and took out exploding cars, well, you know how that would fly. There's totally a limit to how chaotic reality can get, even tedious, if you consider having to get gas and dentist visits in-game.

Yes, vehicles would be OP if they couldn't be blown up. What would we do in item hold? VIP? We can just sit in car forever.

What AuRevoirTune said, PLUS the simple fact, APB in no way is trying to be realistic or a simulator, its all about having fun. if you want a realistic shooter then maybe you should try ARMA2 or something?

do you really think the cars being blown up by guns is the only thing that isn't realistic? what about being able to withstand a shot from a .50 sniper rifle and keep running? no chance... lol.

    Mythbusters +1

Can't agree with your personal opinion - Seeing as APB is a fast-paced video game, exploding cars adds to the fun factor of the video game and also helps on a tactical level depending on the situation, even the only option when you have someone constantly trying to run away. You can still use cars as cover as it takes a bit for a car to actually explode but you can't stay there forever.

Some realism is nice but adding full on realism would ruin the fun of the video game.

I remember the old APB had a problem with 32-bit operating systems where it would limit the graphical settings to a bare minimum unless you manually changed the ini.

    Is this problem fixed now?

It was a feature, not a problem.

    • The FPS aspect was the biggest letdown, the hitboxing was shocking (if any at all)

    • Roof camping & having better gear etc, all made comabt annoying & sucky

    • The limits to grouping was to small

    • The lack of things to do / content

are these thing gonna be fixed?

I thought the game concept was good, the graphics & the general gamplay was cool also

The Deathstar destroyed planets...Lucas Arts destroyed Galaxies

Being a third person shooter, I'm unsure how the FPS aspect fits in. Regarding the hitboxes specifically, we don't intend to make a general change to add things like head shots. Though we are talking about making a more competitive type rule-set that includes something like that in the future.

We've made many adjustments to roof access. It is now much harder to do for the most part. And usually if one side has access the other side has another way up.We're also trying to move away from the concept of higher level gear being automatically better. We want players to have options and make choices. So we're working on that now.

This may change in the future. We're not actively talking about it just yet but with the new rule-set coming 8 may not be enough for a team.

We're working on a new rule-set: Turf Wars. This is a major piece of our launch content. Additionally we're going to be adding racing and expanding on the just released Witnessing in some fun ways. We're also going to replace a bunch of the boring, unfun, missions.

I have to disagree with the 'Higher level gearing being better is bad' mentality. This is a MMORPG either way, I won't have any type of strive to play more to unlock anything since I don't even need to purchase upgrades, since G1 effectively made all except supply useless. In RTW, we all had a strive to max every contact, organization, and make money for 3 slot weapons and 4 slots vehicles and upgrades. Now all we need is the stock weapon and a 1-2 slot vehicle and we're good forever.

What kind of logic is that? Of course it's a problem, even if was intentional. It made the game absolutely horrible looking for anybody too lazy or unable to figure out how to spoof the ini, regardless of hardware. Not to mention 32-bit system users are slightly more plentiful than 64-bit users, at least by a 3:2 margin.

    My question still stands unanswered.

  • AuRevoirTuneAuRevoirTune Member UncommonPosts: 17

Why do you even still have 32 bit? I don't get how people are even able to buy it. You should be on 64 bit by this day and age.

Not everyone is with the times, im still using XP pro 32-bit myself, I can't even play War for Cybertron.

Why does every game have to have an advanced setting with "Bloom"?  Bloom does not occur in the real world unless there's fog or looking through a foggy glass...  Everyone single game I play today from City of Heroes to Bad Company 2 has this feature.

I can stand on the roof of my apartment building from the Northern edge of the Bronx and I can see all the way down to Manhattan, tri-state bright and throgs neck without any kind of blinding light or fog obsuring my vision.

Having any kind of effect like this in games only produces more lag and lessens framerate.

I think the biggest problem with over-the-shoulder is that it is misleading.  Sure you can see around walls and target threats, but when you shoot you end up hitting the wall.  Theres no warning or indication that your line of fire is blocked until you start shooting.

You can disable it via video settings.

Not really, only problems I have like that are when a pole/railing isn't fully programmed and I can't shoot between them.
