Well, I cancelled my WoW account after playing Cataclysm for 20 or so days, doing everything there was to be done and then realising that Cataclysm did not address all the issues the drove me away from the game in the first place.
In Rift I'm currently at an odd spot, where I find myself doing more PvP than I would normally do, despite myself being more of a PvE player. Which incidentally left less time for the actual PvE, so I didn't grow bored of it. Then I keep thinking about all the stuff I need to do in the PvE side of things, but don't have the time due to the PvP goals I set myself to reach and the time it takes to reach them.
PS: I didn't vote because Rift was not the reason I left WoW. It just happened to fill a (perhaps) temporary void in the time I dedicate into gaming.

Intreasting thought about filling in a temporary void in your gaming time.
Yeah cancelled, that is not to say I won't ever go back to Azeroth. Depends on how fast I run out of things to do in Telara. Think I'll wait and see what people think of the Firelands patch coming up, not all that keen on the dungeon system in wow right now tho!
I personally don't have either game at the moment. I cancelled WoW about two months ago and someone bought me Rift as a gift.
I had previously been in the beta and thought that it had some good points but lacked a real, 'identity', as a game. So if I hadn't got a copy as a gift I wouldn't have bought. It just didn't click with me so I won't be keeping my Rift account going.
Personally, I like Rift a lot more than WoW. I have only played it for about 8 hours total and it already has a place in my heart. I was hooked right from the beginning, whereas in WoW, it took me a while to actually WANT to play it... In Rift, I wanted to play it right from the start.
Now, this is not to say I have cancelled my WoW account for Rift... I don't need to, because my brother pays for my WoW account! xD So I will be playing both, I will just be playing Rift more...
Rift is a much better, polished, and organized game than WoW ever was, from the start to current. I just want all those WoW fanboys to actually give Rift a chance and realize how much better it is... I mean, yeah sure, it's a lot like WoW mixed with aspects of other games, BUT the WoW aspect of it is much better. Same goes for the rest of the game aspects mixed in with it. The WoW fanboys just don't like the game because it's similar to WoW: a game they have spent years on leveling, exploring, paying hundreds of dollars to and staying loyal to... If I were them, I would want something new... And I have found it.
Brand new, fresh, organized and polished game > Stale, boring, same-old same-old grind with a bunch of pointless errands
or
Telara > Azeroth
Yep, I'm staying with Rift [and WoW, I just won't be playing it as much!].
So people are finally starting to get tired of WoW (a game which was outdated the day it came out, seeing as it does literally nothing new or unique) so they opt to play... WoW again? The mindset of these WoW folks (that some have the audacity to call MMO fans) just doesn't make sense to me.
I tried the free weekend thing and i loved it. It has tons of people many who seem mature and cool. Love the ability to mix my class up with so many different options. I was wondering about the rifts people keep complaining about, i found them fun even after 9 hours of playing straight they were fun. I will be getting it today at walk-mart. i wanna own the box for this one so i have the CDs handy. I need something to fill my time until the world ends.
Why talk about wow in the rift dpt? This forum is about Rift, let's talk about Rift.
All the people ingame dropping wow references are quite annoying to me. It's like a big mass of people you don't want to meet but can't get away from. Sure you can switch off chat but then again you also just play single player games.
Seems to me that people that are in Rift are looking for something that is not wow.
You missed out cancelling Rift to keep WoW, which I know people are doing. Rift's end game is nothing more than a decent, but sub-par version of WoW's. Rift levelling is sub-par to WoW's, period.
One reason I tried Rift was because I was burned out on WoW's end game. As it doesn't offer anything new or better, I've cancelled it (after being level 50 for some time and member of a raiding guild).
Given there's so many paths to levelling in WoW I'm simply doing so on a new character until 4.1 is released. Although to be honest I'd also been downloading some trials for other games over the past few weeks, to see if there was anything else.
For many Rift seems like a filler MMO, until SW:TOR and/or GW2. So I also can't see the point in investing time in it, even with content being copied to a sub-par level aside.
EDIT: this is a quote from above: 'Rift is a much better, polished, and organized game than WoW ever was, from the start to current. I just want all those WoW fanboys to actually give Rift a chance and realize how much better it is'
actually they are both the same, rift has better graphics (and so it should given the age), however the end game content for rift is very very dull, and not on par with wow end content at the moment. Wow has the edge in that it has 6 years of content. Sounds like I am a wow fan, and i did enjoy playing wow for 6 years, but gave up monthly and moved to RIFT. Got to end-game then quickly realised its the style of mmorg that both these games represent that is dull and tired.
Gave up both permanantly here and enjoying playing a couple free to play until a next gen mmorg comes along that is worth investing major time in again.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
I cancelled WoW back in December. Couldn't take trying to level more alts through the boring trudge of Outlands and Northrend just to get to an endgame mode of play I can't stand anymore. Rift was fun till, once again, I am stuck in the stupid endgame mode of running experts over and over and over. I HATE this type of endgame play. Or rather, I hate that's its the ONLY endgame play and no alternatives.
So for now, all of these games are just fillers until SWTOR, GW2 and ArcheAge for me. Heck, I was almost tempted to resub to WoW last night just to level another alt to outland and then I can get mad again and unsub in a few days ROFL!
'Rift is a much better, polished, and organized game than WoW ever was, from the start to current. I just want all those WoW fanboys to actually give Rift a chance and realize how much better it is'
It is not.
I gave it a fair chance, I got bored in Beta 1 but I still managed to play all the other Betas, and although the polished statment is right, Rift is also very predictable and boring.
The world of Azeroth is much more interesting than Telara, the characters are funny and the quests are wacky.
And by the way I am not a WoW fanboy, I play it for desperation because it looks like no one can do any better.
Guild Wars 2 looks like is going to make me unsubscribe from WoW.................unless of course it will turn out to be another WoW clone, just like Rift
I canceled my WoW account several months ago, got the MMO itch, and decided I'd spend some time in Rift. I got to 50, did all the experts, did some PVP, and did some raiding. The entire experience minus Rifts felt like I was playing WoW. I ended up not renewing my Rift account in favor of playing WoW. The combat feels more fluid, and the boss encounters are designed better in my opinion. I think Rift is good, but the only thing that drew me to it was it's newness, and once that wore off I became bored pretty quickly.
Yes I cancelled my WoW acct. about a year before Rift came out. I almost bought cata..but for the first time in 6 years I had will power and didn't buy it. I am currently playing and fully supporting Rift for the simple fact as it is fun, but they there are some places they need to expand on and improve. But so far as a company they are making the right moves and listening (seemingly, only time will tell) to their playerbase. Thats a far cry from 99.9% of the game companies out there.
Just trying to live long enough to play a new, released MMORPG, playing New Worlds atm

I cancelled my WoW account before Rift came out, was completely bored out of my mind and playing old dos based games for nostalgia and still didn't want to play the game when I could play it for free during beta because it was so bland.
Rift is the fast food of MMOs. Very little care or thought went into most of the game, they just threw together every popular aspect of every other MMO and hoped enough people didn't care about quality or were in a hurry and couldn't wait for something better and would buy it.
From the small world overpacked with mobs to the completely lame quest text and lore to the paint by numbers questing with no life to it to the dynamic events which are more or less whack a mole to the character classes which have no care at all behind them, just a bunch of abilities thrown together at random, to the extremely bland generic graphics.
I want my wife's home cooking, an MMO with a little care put into it, not some fast food bland food like substance that is Rift.

I cancelled both and never resubbed.
Better keep money on MORTAL KOMBAT.
let's say it this say:
we are still in azeroth
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
There should be an option of "I got banned from WoW so I picked up Rift and now I have cancelled my Rift account"
Yeah cancelled, that is not to say I won't ever go back to Azeroth. Depends on how fast I run out of things to do in Telara. Think I'll wait and see what people think of the Firelands patch coming up, not all that keen on the dungeon system in wow right now tho!
I avoided to buy Rift to keep my WoW account.................you forgot this option
I think you're covered by the "I will never cancel my WoW account." option.

I played WoW 18 months back. I quit and cancelled at level 67. Even the players I got along with were obsessed with gear...
Am enjoying Rift so far (level 33 on Faeblight) and have a 3 month sub that I'm very happy with.
There was no option in the poll for me, even the last one doesn't apply as I am playing Rift.

Nope...come to think of it, once I got to 50 in Rift, I canceled it as well....guess I'm done with theamparks.

Not really, because it looks like I am subscribed to both.
Plus I can't wait to cancel my WoW subscription as soon as something better comes along.

Well, I did cancel my WOW account to play Rift, but that's just because I was done with Catacombs and it was time to move on.
