These things take time, just like anything else in life that one enjoys.

    I just don't get it...

I dont think any devs design a game with them in mind. They have too much time on their hands and nothing makes them happy, its a no-win situation and if devs ever did for some odd reason make an mmorpg with them in mind it would take 10 years, cost 500 million dollars and then those same people would beat it in 9 months and still complain. Im takin' bets.

Leveling up in Rift is like leveling up a character in Cataclysm WoW.  If I had the time, I could easily hit max level within less than two months, and I usually progress relatively slowly.

Folks talk about how polished the game was/is  all I have to do is point at the patches, and then let me hear you say polish again with a smile on your face.

Game polished no,  game has a lot of content no.

Will i survive past 6 months without having a server merge,  only time will tell.

Actually, I'll take your challenge: The game was launched polished. =) Polished does not mean bug free, and never has. Look at AoC at launch, STO at launch (or it's Klingon faction now), or FFXIV to understand what an unpolished MMO looks like. There's been precious few MMOs that have launched in the last few years that have launched in such a great shape; some have been barely playable.

It was fun getting to 50 but all the CC and healing made me stop playing just too annoying.

Boring questing.. and rehashed in the same ares that you just did your last bunch in as well. BGs/WFs are nothing new. Soul system is pretty cool, group looting is the best thing ever, and the graphics sound etc are pretty good.

But just like others have said, it's the same damn thing. Nothing new here. If your burnt out of the WoWs, EQs etc, this might hold you for a month, like it did me. After that I unsubbed and removed from the computer (specially after them screwing up their River of Souls event there)

I personally will never play this style of mmo again. Hopefull Tera, GW2 etc bring something fresh and new to the table, otherwise, it's back to casual console gaming for this kid.

Yeah, I'm enjoying the game. Been playing nearly 4 weeks now. I'm enjoying the crafting, questing dungeons and generally exploring the world. Even the odd days pvp is not terrible.

The game isn't without issues (some pretty glaring to be frank).

Not overly impressed with the scarlet gorge zone, and the next zone is a tad dull. I know however there are better zones to come. I'm generally plodding through the game though, it suits my work schedule, I really do think Rift is built to cater for us "supercasuals".

I'm not outlevelling the content so there is always stuff to do, still concerned about end game gear grind (treadmill). It'll be a few weeks before I get there, with the 1.2 patch arriving and hopefully another event coming soon, should be a fun ride.

I like the game, left World of Warcraft after 5 years. Though maybe that just because I was burned out on WoW. There is enough in Rift to keep me busy and I like that. Being honest though I think I am just playing Rift because it's not WoW. I am also lucky enough to be in a good guild, I think that helps.

I did enjoy Rift very much but I didn't subscribe after the intial free month you recieve from the purchase. This is not because I didn't like the game but it didn't fulfill my needs for PVP. Leveling up was rather easy too, I managed to get a Warrior to 50 and a Cleric to 43 within that month. Also, I have great respect for Trion Worlds and their creation(s).

    I do like Rift.

However my sub ran out and for now I wont renew.

I am more into PvP with a little PvE thrown in on occasion. Rifts PvP is bad IMO. Only 4 WF, open world PvP meaningless unless you enjoy ganking, crappy PvP gear, ect ect.

I think Rift is a great game for people that like to raid and gear grind, chasing the ever elusive and constantly changing purple pixels and what not. I am not bashing this, as some people enjoy it, I personally dont anymore.

Not so much a game for people who want more of a PvP game with PvP as a viable option for progression.

I will keep an eye on Rift and see what direction they take it, I have a feeling it will be PvE focused almost entirely, with a bone or 2 thrown to the PvP crowd every now and then.

I will say I did enjoy the experience and would recommend Rift, I feel it was well worth the price and the 2 months I paid for it. Just not enuff to keep me long term.

I can agree with you completely, jdnewell. I was playing on Harrow, which is a PVP server. I was expecting very engaging PVP due to the fact that you could have so many combinations of souls and on-the-fly change in class styles - I ended up very disappointed in that regard. =( People weren't exactly taking full advantage of the flexibility of souls, most of it were mindless 'pew-pew'. The only time I really enjoyed PVP was when some of my mates and I (playing as Defiants) moved close to an important Guardian safe zone and went on a rampage. Within 20 minutes, the town and the adjacent maps were filled with people. Despite getting pwned like hell over and over again, that was as close to heat-pumping PVP you could ever come to in Rift.

After years of disappointments I feel at home in Telara.

Don't ask me why, it’s something like when you enter in a new bar and you notice immediately you will be good there for a long time. To me Rift has been like this song that you have already heard in thousands of other songs, just small differences, may be the voice of the singer, may be the way that guy plays the guitar, you don’t know why, but you fall in love with the song.

Rift is not what I was asking before to be my game, really it’s very different. Most of the things that Rift offer Ii have already played in other games. Some are new views of old ideas and very, very few are new for me.

May be is something like this old idea that sometimes the whole thing is more than the simple additions of all its parts.

May be, more than probably, it’s just me... you know my pure subjective perception.

I’m happy to be again a brainless fan boy.  Now, you know yesss! I love Rift.
