DDO f2p, LoTR frp, AC...eh(life support). So what sre they gonna do next. AC f2p or put out another xpac for it or one of the other games. Are they working on a new project? I might just not see it or miss it, but I don't see a lot of action from them other than going f2p with a few of their games.
So whats next Turbine?

Well if their smart they would need to totally revamp DDO or come up with a new project. With Neverwinter being developed I would imagine their DDO taking a pretty big hit.
A. The biggest thing is Neverwinter is allowing player made content.
B. The setting, many didn't like the Eberron setting and many claim it should have been Forgotten Realms setting which Neverwinter is doing.
C. Don't know if Turbine did this but Cryptic is working closely with Wizards of the Coast on the project.
While Cryptic has some severely subpar quality products of the past however there has been significant leadership changes, new direction, and it's not like Turbine is that great of a company either from what I've seen in DDO.
Eh, with WB aquiring Turbine I think the company is spiraling down the draintube. Seems like they will be left as a F2P gaming industry in the end.
Its really hard to compete in the P2P market you just have to get so many things right. Which it appears very few compainies can do. LOTRO did lots of things right but also lots of things wrong..............move game to F2P and suddenly no one cares anymore about whats wrong with your game.
The F2P model allows you to toss traditinal development goals out the window (abandon the do everything right mode) and stil make money off of volume.
But I have yet to find a F2P game worth my time since time is greater than money.
My guess is that if Turbine ever makes another game it will be F2P and of course expansions for their existing F2P line
They are developing a console only mmo for the 360 and PS3 right now. I just pray it is not Harry Potter.
Isn't there an xpac in the works for Lotro? Isengard?
That's an interesting assessment, but I'm curious what it is based on since F2P games historically have been much better than subscription games at delivering smooth, stable releases and expansions.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

What I wish they would do is to revisit the Asheron's Call franchise and come out with a true AC1 successor. But since they're making good money with LOTR Online and DDO, I have doubts that'll happen. It's too bad.

Having been bought up by WB, I think the Harry Potter franchise is the bets bet for near future. LOTRO is going to continue development as they have already announced Isengard in the near future. i just hope they make it all the way to Mordor. DDO is still coming out with content releases, so I expect that will continue. I really do hope they take another look at the AC franchise, as I was probably the only one that liked AC2 and would definately want to get a more modern AC game.
could you imagine, a real sanbox style game like AC1 with todays graphics, with the random loot, dodgeing war spells and arrows, NO CLASSES!!! omg no stupid elves and dwarfs. no more " good guys and bad guys ".
damn i miss the good old days when games were hard and being part of a community really meant somthing.
Sure is. Here
Yeah you're gonna make me cry talking about AC1 and its fps style gameplay. Gah now I wanna play it again. I don't know why they won't revamp the character models at least.

They are working on something big. Nobody that works there will talk about it. They were bought by Warner.
So yeah, I'm affraid it may be a Harry Potter MMOG. Its a great fit though and may even be a fun game.
