Right My comp has been sitting here all day downloading / patching right after i've registered for the 7-day free trial to Rift.

Alright go time! made myself a nice rogue on the guardian side, I'm enjoying the game so far,

So, get the first quests... go to kill the 6 husks for abit and then my computer, just shuts down completely.

I figured, alright maybe my computer cant handle the game, so i goes back in and tune the graphic & cpu loads down.

But the same thing happens. I'm pretty sure it isnt a Tempreture problem, is anyone else getting this aswell or is it just me?

It runs fine for me.  I would let your computer sit for a while before turning it back on.

If the problem continues, check their forums for similar problems others are having.  If you cannot fix your problem you may need to uninstall and reinstall....:/

I'm looking into it now, and it seems it could well be the PSU, i have had a similar problem with darkfall before.

but im still uncertian this is fixable by lowering settings.

Apparently people say reinstalling doesnt do anything

What video card and model are you using? What PSU are you using?

Score aside, I'd also use a benchmark program like FurMark to see if you can recreate the problem outside the game.

Or, simpler than FurMark, FFXIV's pretty Benchmark on max settings would max your usage harder than RIFT and would recreate the problem.

Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.

HD Radeon 4890 and PSU is some 550watt (ish) Thermaltake.

The Problem i found is Overheating, my computer idles at 32 degree's, i play rift for 10 seconds, alt+tab to check my temp and it is around 48 degree's, after 5 - 10 seconds!!!!

my fans are on 100% and they are squeeky clean, so... now what?

its not like i need to replace my fans or anything

    Probably is your PSU then.

My brand new system also spikes the gpu from 30-48 degres within the point I click play to 10 seconds into playing the game. I even out at about 60 degrees though which is not hot for video cards. (Nvidia 560 TI with 2 fans on the card.

So to solve my problem i'd need a new PSU?

I wont bother for now then, Im selling my computer and buying an alienware laptop soon anyways, I'll just stick it out!

Go to settings under video tab and try the low quality renderer.
