The Final Fantasy XIV site has been updated with new information about the Grand Companies of Eorzea. Each of the three regiments has been profiled: The Raven, The Harbor Herald and the Mythril Eye.
The Grand Companies of Eorzea are a military alliance of nations united in common cause to avert imminent catastrophe from engulfing the realm, each city-state charged with mustering its resources under the banner of an elite regiment. At their commanders' behests, the companies have begun petitioning able men and women to join their ranks regardless of birth and standing. In due time, that selfsame clarion call will sound out to those intrepid individuals known as adventurers.
To be a part of the Grand Companies is to be a part of history in the making. Grow strong through cooperation and rivalry, and earn yourself boundless glory and a place in history. Will you lend your stout sword arm to the cause?

For some reason I feel like I've seen something like this before. Oh wait yeah I have, it sounds very similiar to the system from WoTG in ffxi, without the time traveling fun.
Hype. Can't wait till this game is finally sorted, I enjoy it, there's just too little to do.
at least we still aint paying to play it, so I can jsut dip in and out when I want, think I might play it tonight actually

At this point I'm pretty sure FFXIV is done for in NA. It's been too long to make people want to come back. While the changes have been nice there are still so many problems it probably won't be good to go for another 6-12 months. Which at that point so many new MMOs will be out or close to be that no one will care to try and play FFXIV. Not to mention more profit losses, the game will continue only so far before the losses are deemed not worthy.
With a lesser IP, I'd agree.
Too many die-hard FF fans, it may come back. It might achieve 300k NA subscribers at peak.
SE is venturing in new territory as a company and doing OK for it. Experience with FFXI shows that they're not a communicative company or one that just listens but they're taking strides to try to do both. In the months since it's release/failure, we've heard more about the state of the game than we have from other more communicative companies.
Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.
12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.
theyll just repackage it and rename it in a few years after they work everything out and it completely tanks. after that much money dumped into it a game they have to make it work.
I think you're dreaming of 300k NA subscribers.

Game hasn't even sold over 300k copies yet in the NA alone. As a FF fan myself this game was even too painful for me to like it.
