Just to Clarify the Status of Xsyon.

Hey everyone, I want to clarify for you, so that you all dont go zomg Xsyon as died etc etc....

 

It hasnt, currently the whole site is being transfered to a new host, hence why they are down, they did an announcement on the forums about it, prior to it going down.

I think its took longer than they had planned, but they did announce it was going down.

 

Also im not sure why some of you cannot get in game but Im currently in, and been recording videos for the past 3-4 hours. 

If your having issues i would suggest emailing their support email. 

Furthermore their IRC is still working the link is... http://xsyon.com/forum/irc.php

If that link doesnt work, try connecting externally.

Give that a go.

Hope this has cleared up some confusion.

    Also, if you haven't played in a significant amount of time, you will need to use the latest launcher/installer.  The client was optimized and released with a full different version about a month ago.  

    Here is a link to that launcher: http://www.xsyon.com/install/Xsyon_Installer_20110505.zip

     

    Give that a download (will be much quicker than the original) and you'll be ready to go.

     

    The website's been moved to the new host and is just waiting for propogation right now.

    If the IRC link provided by Saintbob doesn't work for you, you can access IRC using any web-based or stand-alone client with the following information

    Xsyon IRC Information:

     

    Server: irc.darkmyst.org

    Port: 6667

    Channels:  #xsyon

    Development just updated the playerbase in-game.  There was a problem with the domian transfer which is being resolved now...

    They havent...by chance added:


    • armor having an effect on damage taken and weapons having an effect on damage done (well a real combat system i guess) or is it still "optimal" to run around naked punching?

    • NPC mobs...not the rare animal, but like things to actually kill that require more than afishing pole or low quality shovel to beat

    • A purpose for structures

    • scenery that reflects that an apocolypse actually took place, or is the world still a pristine nature walk...has the game gone from "hey your a cave man" to "in a post apocolyptic world" yet?

    Also, have they fixed the lag issue that was a major factor back in feb-march?

    Hows the population?  The lake area still packed with laggers and people who get enraged if i gank them and steal their pants?

    Whats changed?  Any reason to consider comming back?  Did everyone who was playing in feb already leave (did a wave of people quit basically)

     

    Was always interested in this game in theory, however there was little to do other than hording stuff and ganking people to watch in amazement over how upset they would get.  Since they did give me a refund, i wouldnt be against paying for the game should it be more than a basic alpha test of basic systems. 

    tl/dr?  Is this an actual game yet?

    That is hard to say let's compare it to a Monopoly game in the same state:

    - is there money? -- yes, except you cannot use it for anything

    - are there houses and hotels? -- yes, but they have no effect. You can put a hotel on your property, but it has no effect. Rent is the same, except you cannot spend any money so collecting rent is academic.

    - are there properties? -- yes, they all have the same stats though and cost the same, except you can't really buy them yet

    - what about Chance and Community Chest cards? -- yes, there are placeholders for them. They don't exist yet though.

    If Monopoly was in the same state as Xsyon today, all you could do is roll the dice and move around the board. That's it.

    Is that a game?

     Leather armor block's about 20% of danage - something known in game for at least 2 months.

    Go explore inside of the the green mist if you are bored.

    Or - for fun take on the packs of Racoons or Pine Martens - them little critters are very hard to hit but they CAN be killed and de-boned.

     On the topic of money. There should not be any money. The entire idea of the game user base evolving the game and nothing more base then that in seeing what the players place value on. what can you make, gather or steal that is actually of value (at one time it was tarps of matching colors) not sure what it is now.

    From an outsider to Xyson POV this thread is pretty ammusing.  I like the monopoly analogy and the people getting mad about you stealing their pants.

     I pre-ordered xyson and was so hyped about it.. I struggled through the launch and all the issues for like 2 months.. And gave up, I am still optimistic and hope to oneday rejoin the game, but it was just so bare bones I couldnt get hooked.  I would love nothing more then to come back, maybe a few more major patches I will try again..  It  was REALLY fun until you do everything and realize its just crafting and like the others mentioned, fist fighting and stealing pants..

    (stealing fishing poles was really funny to me to, I guess thats considered griefing, but funny none the less.)
