The Cloud has existed for quite a while now, gmail/hotmail for example
but it has evolved into mobile data phones such as iphones Androids BBs with dropbox and evernote and many other apps that store information into the cloud that you can access anywhere in the world.
it wasnt so bad when it was just documents, pdf, emails, txts, and to a certain point pictures. but now its music and soon videos
the only thing that is not moving forward is the ridiculous cost of data plans on my phone i have 6GB bandwidth and it costs me 45$/month. 6GB to stream music and videos isnt much.
you might say yeah but there is wi-fi everywhere... yeah but not in the bus or in the car when i usually want to listen to my music... if i am at work i have a computer where i can plug my iphone with its music... or have the music already synched with my home computer.
if i am at home... well im at home i dont need to access it on my ipod touch or iphone, i can just use the laptop or computer, or simply transfer the songs i want within seconds to an old school mp3 player that costs 2.99 at wallmart
the cloud is only meant for computers, not for devices like ipod touch, iphones androids...
and even then! i have read articles saying that everything is trending towards the cloud... you wont need 1Tb external hard drives for your movies/music/document/games it will all be stored in the cloud... at this point... 300GB Bandwidth internet connection wont be enough...
will households now be forced to buy corporate subscriptions with their local internet providers? (on top of having monthly fee for cloud storage?) with the icloud you only get 5GB storage free... if you want more you need to pay...
what do you guys think?

Google is doing some crazy ultra high bandwidth tests.
Fiber optics with a gigabit per second speeds.

First city to get it is Kansas city.
I would love it. No more upgrading your computer. You just use any old computer to log into the cloud. Your game is playing on an updated computer on the cloud, and ti's just streamed to you over the ultra high speed connection.
No more buying more hardrives. Your stuff is just stored on the cloud.
It will be like, you have access to your very own up to specs computer with plenty of storage, wherever you can log on to the cloud.
That would be really cool. Probably take forever to get it nationwide though.
1GB per second! that would max out the 300GB bandwidth limit in 5 minutes...
its the cost of personal bandwitdth that is the problem, not the speed, im sure they can make it faster than thought fast! but its the price of bandwitdth that have not changed prices and in NA they dont have unlimited for dataphones or tablets
I think you're confusing Cloud Computing, with Remote Data Storage.
Cloud Computing, is actually having a remote computer do the processing for you and streaming it to your device through a variety of different ways. In the future, Games will be played on the Cloud and there are actually quite a few companies out ther right now experimenting with this. Don't ask me how this works, because all my proper schooling in Computer Science tells me it's completely impossible by any method I can think of, but they are doing it somehow.
If you want to see Cloud Computing, look at everything you can do with Google Docs. That's Cloud Computing. (and the only thing I can think of to show you off the top of my head) You're only being streamed the content of your files, the remote server is the one processing the information.
The Cloud is the future and I'm ready to embrace it. It will bring us all together and make our lives much simplier, when combined with more Tablets/Pads and better Smart Phones. The technology is getting closer and closer to foldable screens as well, so your pocket sized smart phone might soon also be your 15" Tablet. We're probably a good 15yrs away from that, but it's coming and I'm freaking ready for it.
In the US, we don't have data caps on our home internet. I'm also grandfathered in to AT&T Unlimited Mobile Data for $60/mo as well. Pretty much the only reason I'm still with AT&T.
