Aggro

zazzzazz Member UncommonPosts: 408

Did anyone see anything answered on aggro/faction ranges ect from E3? cause from all the videos i have seen, pretty much mobs are static u can walk upto them and fire on them before they will fight back, or if u riding by on your speeder bike past grps of mobs they dont turn and fire on you.

Not what i call challanging. I'm curious as I say if this was covered during E3 or otherwise.

Ty in advance.

Funnily enough in other demos from the events and conventions before the E3, people were talking about the aggro range being too wide. Maybe they adjusted it or the guy showcasing had an OP avatar.

It was stated in the live walkthrough that the aggro range was turned down and the AI was as well, but only for E3.  They wanted to be able to show things off without haing to fight every 15 seconds or so, plus it made the fights easier to get through faster.

Ty bud, if u get time u get a link would be appreciated, over all game looking ok but that could urk me somewhat.

Ok to above post appreciate, im feeling better about it now hehe.

Now only thing that worries me is the different planets seem to be for different lvl ranges , so at end game everyone will be bunched up togeather bewteen a few planetary areas.

Well of the planets we know the 4 starter worlds are low level

Tatoonie seems to be around low to mid 20ish.

I don't know about the others. THey did say prior you would have reasons to come back to these planets. But not knowing what these reasons are makes it difficult to know if there are higher level mobs on these worlds.

It's entirely possible they could be level specfic but i don't know much about the leveling scale on the worlds to know we basically have the 4 starter worlds which are your tuturial planet and one mid level planet.  Signs point that way but not enough to say it is just yet IMO

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

Not entireley sure on the reasoning as yet but you do definately have to return to the starter planets.

When that lowbie sees a high level of is class go by it creates a wow factor and makes that player aspire to be like that.

If I remember rightly I believe its primarily class based story interactions that require the return to your starter so I at best guess believe its nothing more than a quest hub for your class specific quests

    Lets be honest

We all want agro range to be line of sight.... for human beings that are expecting us.. There is only one (partially) MMO that delivered on this.

And we don't want mobs to be just standing around....

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Nope. That's why it was a big relief to me they said they turned aggro and AI down for E3.

Personally I would love to see variety in aggro ranges: very perceptive creatures being able to sniff you out, perhaps even before you notice them yourself for instance. And sneaking like in some single player mmorpgs and shooters; moving slowly with a low profile and taking shadows into account and with that affecting aggro range for a great deal. This could very well have a place in mmorpgs next to stealth based skills.

I've played a current build.  Normal aggro like any other game.

Ty for feedback guys little things like that are a worry for me.

Wat about the static mobs? i can see the creatures roaming around, but the npc's just like hanging around in little static pockets everywhere,  sure this will be the case in some places but it all like that?

One thing that made Minecraft popular is that every monster in the entire world is agro'd towards you.

The legendary creeper sneaking quietly up on you when you least expect it is one of things it is most famous for.

If they had patrolling mobs sneaking up on you or creeping up behind you. It would surely make for an exciting game.

Of course if it happens all the time at a specific point (eg. The patrols spawning behind you in WoW Deadmines). It loses its shock value when you're expecting it the second time around. So it's not at a time you're least expecting it.

Being an mmo though. Scripted encounters are preferred over frequent random ones. So that's probably the issue there.

Animals dont aggro afaik, maybe we have a different setting, dont know, wolves fight back.
The damned creepers, the amount of repairs is unbelieveable, the fire trench need to get done soon...
