Bill Gates MMORPG

halidbi1halidbi1 Member Posts: 42

You know what would be cool, If Bill Gates invested money into the making of a f2p mmorpg....think how cool that would be.....probably would beat WoW by a long shot....and Bill Gates makes money nonstop right now still...that would be the best thing to happen to mmorpg games...it wont ever happen but wouldnt it be cool if it did...

You gave yourself away when you said F2P. There's no way Bill Gates would ever do that.

Yeah, and now we could get BSoD in game, as death penalty or something ;)

He does not have to have a mmo sence.. he dint make anyting in his live ( well he did write a few lines of code..)

Whit his private banking account you make a game involving all aspects of games (rpg, fps, rts, racing) make it seamless .sandbox and have zero bugs , aint hard  if you can  hire 5000 developers and still laugh at the cost.

Hey, thats the way MS will be able to justify monthly fees using their OS after they have integrated an mmo into Windows X.

You just made the future even grimmer..

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

He doesn't give away free software. He HAS to give money to charity. If he doesn't, he will be garbage in society's eyes.

well....also he doesnt have to pay taxes cause he gives away soooo much....but since he gives away so much, it would be cool if he gave "money" not software, to develope a game...

That sounds terrible.  First, there are diminishing returns at that many workers, also I would never want a MMORPGFPSRTSR game that is a sandbox, it just wont work. Second, its impossible to have zero bugs.  All developers make mistakes and write buggy code.  But its all in how well and fast they can fix the code and how efficent they code.   And just because your rich doesnt mean you are going to blow money on a guarenteed to fail business.

lol it would suck, to create a mmorpg game a good one, would probably cost over 50million dollars, maybe little less but its what i think..

He could make Windows F2P.  have ppl pay for the bug fixes, patches & updates as micro-transactions

He still doesn't have to and he gives away a lot. He may be behind crappy OSes and unethical bussiness crap but that doesn't stop the fact thta he actually gives away a large percentage of his money to make the world a better place.

However is giving away money to science and poor people not the same as making a free computer game. Bill have better things to give away his money to, people are starving to death and dying because they can't afford a coctor or because we don't have a cure to their disease.

A MMO is just a rather nice waste of time, like reading a book, drinking a few Guiness or watching a good movie. We should really pay for stuff like that ourselves, there are people in need that needs those money a lot better than us.

Besides, it would be rather unfair to the other MMO devs and might take back the genre a bit. If everyone play the same game, in this case because it is free, it means that small and innovative companies never can get in enough money to make games and the only ones who could try to compete with Bill would be EA and Activision.

Bad news, the boss of Microsoft is Steve Balmer and I don't see him drive himself and his company to bankruptcy.

If you want a good free OS you have Linux. Or you can even use Chrome OS.

Windows makes a lot more money like it is now. They release a new version every 2 or 3 years and gets full payment for it. I can tell you that I ouln't pay for any microtransitions, patches or updates. I have good free programs that takes care of my security and other needs, I might have to pay for the latest direct X but I owe 2 7 licenses (and a XP I don't use anymore, I gave away my crappy Vista with the last computer I sold).

MS would loose 90% of it's revenue and Balmer knows that.

In terms of money, someone would have to present to Bill Gates an idea that would guarantee him that it will be successful. Something that in the MMO industry is at the moment very hard to do - as many developers do not want to take risks and move away from the standard of MMO gameplay we have at the moment. Investors know that aswell.

We see small shifts in correcting some gameplay aspects but not a whole lot in one swift movement.

Also if you wanted Bill to support the MMO - you will have to offer him i think something that works with Microsoft in some way, social aspects with the 360 or something along the lines of Windows incorporated.

On a personal note, if i won lotto - big time anyway, i would support and invest money in MMO developers.

As a non-US citizen, what's with all the Bill Gates hate? He gave $1billion to GAVI yesterday getting various others (my government included) to do likewise in an attempt to immunise the remaining 20million kids per year who die of malaria. He has pledged to donate 99% of his personal wealth to charity (a little under $70 Billion) again, getting other to do likewise.

I dare say there's an ulteria motive in there somewhere but either way if he's getting a good deal for him money at the same time as it going to the poor who really cares, he could have done the same as all the others and piss it away on obscene opulence.
