Police in the United Kingdom are reporting the detention of a possible suspect in the LulzSec hacking attack on Sony earlier this year as well as a string of more recent attacks targeting EVE Online as well as Britain's Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) website. The SOCA attack is the direct cause for the arrest. The 19-year-old is in custody pending further investigation.

Good, I hope they all go down.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

It has been said that it was just their fanboy IRC operator though. And "the six Lulzsec members themselves being safe and sound" or something along those lines.

I somehow find the conspiracy theory claiming that Lulzsec and Anonymous are actually federal hacking groups intended to put hackers and internet security in the limelight to make certain that the new laws coming up regarding this topic will be passed and strip away another set of rights from the US people become more and more reliable.

My love for conspiracies which make sense in ridiculous ways has to noted though.

Hey, I love a good conspiracy theory...now if only they could work it into the secret world...

Of course, I managed to find a picture of what I think, closely resembles the physical parameters of the Lulzsec team, playing an RP TOR server.

Anonymous documented him. Watching Twitter and other things that's what the word is.  He pissed them of for whatever reason awhile back or he is just someone that they decided to throw under the bus.

As an employee of the federal government, I can atest that the managers couldn't organize a party to get the trash to the curb. I love a good conspiracy theory but, working for the gov't has disabused me of the notion that they could pull one off.

How about this for a conspiracy, at one point some or all the hackers of anon were on a quest that they gave themselves, and of course got caught. However, intelligence saw how it is easy more many more hackers to rise and challenge the system so they kept anon around as bait. Seems after anon and lulsec formed thier alliance that this member is being detained.

Now, its just a conspiriacy, but I like to imagine such things myself as well and make sense of things until there is confirmation.

That would be funny.  I do hope that this leads to finding the root sources.

According to lulzec themselves this is just a dude that hosts one of their (legal) irc channels. Kinda sad if true, is that all that the combined resources of FBI and Scotland Yard can do? Get some 19 year old kid, that hosts a chat server :/

Yea but now they got his pc's hard drives, and can get a list of of all the ip's and track them down.   So they are not out of the woods unless they can do a lot of ip swapping and what not, but the trace routes they can run will show them where they are at.

So anybody using that chat server has left a footprint that can be tracked.

I can think of ways around that just on the fly (and I am not computer savvy), but I won't add to such behavior.

I could care less about sony because I really feel the FBI Should investergate them for Fraud when they sold people PS3's, and didn't make them sign an agreement before they purchased that said they couldn't modify.

Here is something I think is Stupid.

Okay so what if this 19 year old had a connection with Lulz Security, from information I have read on the internet Anonymous, and other hacker groups are joining up, and by me saving all these sites to my favorites, or any of their IRC Logs I find on pastebin, and such if the FBI ever asked me questions I could be held responsible just for reading the news and keeping track of all that is going on.

Okay so  lets say if the 19 Year old actually did do anything illegal, it still has to be proven in a court/law, and now because of this post on MMORPG.com, and other sites Lulz Sec knows that if this person worked for them to quickly move their operations and become more secret and such this is like saying I saw a terrorist in my local town to the public, and then he would quickly leave before the police could get to the suspect because it is all over the news.

It Doesn't, and wont stop here even if one kid gets jail time or something others will follow, and if  the FBI really understand the Internetz more then they would understand what Anonymous is about, and know exactly how to catch these Hackers, but nope they don't use their brains and by the time they end up getting a Subpoena they end up doing something really stupid like this

    http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/06/21/f-b-i-seizes-web-servers-knocking-sites-offline/

Because the FBI are not using their brains, and then they cause disruption for many customers instead of simply investergating who was doing the hacking on site Lulz Security, or Anti Sec sits back and laughs at how dumb they are.

I mean I myself don't believe the Government should have control over everything, but again I don't feel that the Gaming Industry such as sony for example should be allowed to go after people for modifying their own stuff without a legally binding contract, and use a Court/Law to violate many customers privacy rights as they did collecting anyones IP Address who watched the Hotz Video, while I really don't care for sony anymore I still don't understand why LulzSec would target sites like EVE Online, or these other companies who haven't done anything yet unless it is just for attention, or laughs, or to show that the security industry sucks which it is true many security companies out there, and servers Drop out on security updates and checks that they should run every day but someone doesn't do their JOB.

Hey wait, Have I ever talked about Inside Job, Bot Nets, or that I don't trust the FBI fully I mean here I reported used for illegally violating my privacy on the internet and the user is still allowed to violate my privacy for over a year within a service he doesn't even own, and really How Do I know someone from within the FBI, CIA, or any government agency isn't a spy, or a mole working for Anonymous, or Lulz Sec, I honestly don't, and another funny thing is when I reported that guy for spyware before They asked for Info Like my Real Life name, Address where I live, and even if someone out there had information, or there was a bounty on these guise heads who would give their Real Life information on an internet form when their Real Lives could be destroyed by Hackers, and yes I have had threats drop on my head before by some who claim they would hack my records, and make it look like I commit crimes if I ever piss them off because all that information is stored in a computer, and given the fact that everyones bank account data is all control by a computer what, and who can we trust now.

Yes I know im paranoid, but when it comes to computers and abuse since everything is control by a comptuer today who can we trust, what can we trust, and with the Cyber Crime on the rise, who says that Bank's can't be hacked with Free Money, such as Exploits in use of prepaid cards, or any of the such I mean the entire system can be abused.

So really this is my view on Lulz Sec, and I dunno about if this suspect is involved with it or not, all I can say is that if the FBI don't get their act togetehr and start using their heads that each time Lulz Sec gets pissed off someone is more than likely to strike back harder each time with over 9000 people.

And Yes the news can be a good thing, but if you seriously go to google right now, and do searches on Lulz Sec, and everything it can also TIP-OFF Hackers, Terrorists/Terrorist Plots, and such, and of course give them all laughs as it goes on.

    Just so.

On a good day, most government agencies can barely get anything done, with 149 emails, 8 conferences, 5 meetings, 2 community round tables, and a sensing session. And no one cares, because it is a job you can't be fired from unless you commit time card fraud. Show up, be a mushroom, can't get fired.

Trying to get some snazzy super secret program rolling in the dark? Ha.

Anyone who believes in government conspiracies, has never worked for the government.
