Dawntide - F2P/Beta Phase MMORPG

Bakkoda24Bakkoda24 Member UncommonPosts: 257

I played this in the earlier stages of its closed beta phase but lacked the time and the necessary experience to make a meaningful impact on its development. I've been checking up on it frequently and I think I might go back to testing.

Dawn tide is a " new freeform MMORPG" where characters can "design and develop their character as they wish, choosing from a wide range of different skills: from sword fighting to shipwrighting, archery and architecture. There’s something for everyone.

How you fit into the world of Dawntide is up to you as a player. Perhaps you’d like to band together with others, form a faction and build a settlement? Would you prefer to sail the ocean in your own boat, or wander the wilderness and explore every corner of the world? Perhaps crafting the finest weapons and armour in the land is how you’d rather make your mark…"

This description is off of the developer's website for the game:

I recommend this game for people that are looking for a sandbox game where level doesn't mean anything. However, I will warn you; early game is unforgiving, it can be confusing, and the market is entirely player-driven and need only, they don't take junk items.

I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have.

    Interesting. Thought there might be a sub-forum for this on mmorpg.com by now.

    I'm looking forward to this game being in more of a playable state... I tried logging in recently and it's so laggy and buggy that I couldn't actually get to the the part where I enjoyed the game. If they can pull it off it looks like it'll be a solid game though.

    I agree, the majority of the game is still hollow from what I've seen. the world seems even more barren than it did during closed beta image but the devs seem to be keeping up with the patches. I just logged back on and started a new character and while i didnt get stuck in the buildings like I used too, I was dismayed when I was the only one in the starter village. Then I got stuck in combat and logged out. I'll stick to perusing the forums for now.

    The game has been unplayable to me the multiple times I've tried it, so don't really know what to make of it.

    Tried playing this today. Absolutely horrible game IMO.  I did only try for 30 minutes but a root canal would have been as enjoyable.

    Graphics=Suck

    Lag=Sucks

    Ran into 1 person in the 30 min I was on.

    Lots of area with nothing there.

    Combat is horrible

    I really wish I could find 1 thing positive about the game in the short time I played and I couldnt so I promptly deleted it.

    Just my opinion of course. Others may think differently.

    I think Dawntide is an amazing game that doesn't have any players. If the server was populated it would be where I live now.

    I think the post above yours explains why there aren't many players there.

    my comp had few issues running it, but running out of the starter city the land is clearcut of trees, only goblins to fight who will kill you in a one on one battle, and no clue where else to go in order to skill up.

    its got potential, i didnt uninstall it, but trees gotta grow back and some explanation on how to skill up w/o things your level wasting you should be included.

    I tested this a while back and like others have said it was basically unplayable..

    Also the graphics aint the best, its 2011 even indy games developers should be able to develop a game engine that deos not look 10 years old.

    I really wish someone with a lot of cash beind them would develop a sandbox game using a modern engine.. it would be awesome.
