    ROFLMAO

You are looking from loyalty from the people that brought us the NGE, that has to be the most ironic thing I have seen here about SWG. I would like to be one of the first to tell the current players to get over it with a smile on my face.

Ok now to the real meat of it all. I would sign your petition because I know how bad it is as a SWG vet and a so-called forum terrorist to have the game you loved to play yanked out from under you. At lest you have a warning on it and perhaps now some of you all will start walking a little in the shoes of those that have been denigrated for not wanting or appreciating and fighting against the NGE and being told to get over it and let it go and understand the vets just a little. Our petition and threat of a lawsuit at least got us a refund

I think it's really cute, all the negative things people are saying about me, and this petition, simply because I posted a link.  It's really depressing to see what has been done to you people because of a game.  What I really like is the people calling me an NGE fanboi and how I'm crying.  So let's get one thing straight.  I started the game when they plugged that thing in.  So all the Pre CU bugginess, credit duping, forum troll wars, and everything else that was going on back there, I've been through it.  I've been through it now and have taken every single twist and turn the game has taken the last eight years.

I, like the vast majority of you, was not pleased about the NGE and the changes made to the game.  I was not happy with having to combine into one of nine "iconic" professions.  I wasn't happy with the reduced complexity of the game.  And while the game was a shadow of it's former self, it still clearly had that sandbox factor that people enjoyed, albeit in reduced form.  Why did I stay?  I'll tell you why I stayed.  Not out of some loyalty to SOE, cause believe me I've criticized them plenty.  It was because I am that much of a Star Wars fan, and my friends that chose to play into the NGE.

Do I miss the old days of SWG?  I certainly do.  Not a day goes by I miss my smuggler/rifleman.  But being bitter about the game, and especially being bitter to those that have kept playing it has not, and will not continue to get you no where.  Sitting here and running down people that want to sign that petition really just goes to show what kind of human beings you really are.  But, it takes all kinds to make the world go around I guess.  As much as people have complained over the years about bringing back Pre NGE and Pre CU, it didn't get you what you wanted.  Now you turn that vitriol on those that don't want the game to close?

We get it.  You hate the NGE.  And that's fine, I can respect that.  As I said before, I myself didn't care for it too much either.  But I was able to get past that cause I wanted to play in a Star Wars universe and I was willing to sacrifice I guess.  Doesn't make me a bad person, and doesn't make anyone else a bad person either.  So those of you running off at the keyboard about how people who want to save this game are trash and such, and take pleasure in the fact that people are actually sad about the end of this game, I really feel for you, and feel for your lack of emotion, and your lack of conscience.  Am I crying over this?  Hardly.  I am sad that a game I've spent most of the last eight years in is coming to an end.  And there is nothing wrong with being sad.  Cause that's simply being human.  Which judging by some of your responses in this thread, is a lot more than many of you could ever hope to be.

Its lived its life.  Let it die, it sthe humane thing to do.

Slightly off-topic, but I will use this thread to say:

I'm sorry to all you current players on losing your game.  I truly am.  I know exactly how painful that can be.  Good luck to you all in finding a new passtime to replace SWG.

  • SuperDonkSuperDonk Member UncommonPosts: 759

Not to rehash every post - but yeah, SWG died on November 15th 2005.  Ever since then they have been keeping it alive with life support - its now time to let SWG go and pull the plug.  Clearly SWG is brain dead and would not be able to return to the glorious state it was in prior to winter 2005.

Its been long over due for us disgruntled vets to move on - now we can.

As you say yourself, you did your choice and did not support the people wanting their game back then in 2005, and you don't consider yourself as a bad person.

But you say it's depressing "what has been done to us because of a game", when vets don't support your petition now.

Only difference, THIS time YOU are the one getting the short stick.

    Get over it.

For those of you idiots who posted how dumb it was to even try and save such a great game, do you even play the game?

People ACCEPT the game for how it is, flaws and all and we LOVE to play it because its so much more different than the other games.

A decision was made for us and maybe we are signing it to let these big corporations know that we are not happy about it.  Whether it fails or succeeds, at least we tried, so keep your stupid remarks to yourselves.

People were willing to try both games or even play them at the same time, but again LA being the assholes that they are, did what they did and well, here we are.  I have played many different MMORPG's but NONE ever compared to SWG.  So you elitist gamer pigs can STFU about "how dumb and pointless" it is to try and save our game.  Don't pick it apart and name all the things that SoE could have done, blah, blah, blah.  We ALREADY KNOW AND ARE STILL WILLING TO PLAY IT!!!!!!

If you asked anyone who is still playing SWG or the ones who plan to stick around until December, you would get some heartfelt stories about why they still play the game, why they love it so much.  Don't be so quick to be such jerks because we are trying to save a game.  Have a heart FFS.

Jesus this is so sad. Did you think it was going to just go on forever? SOE gave you 6 months of warning. Be thankful for that much.

I love how people play a game so much they lose touch with reality. You NEVER had a say in this games future. You would think the NGE would have taught everyone that lesson.  To SOE and LA you are nothing more than a pay check..and a small one at that. They know you will pay for TOR and even if you and every SWG player decides not to it really is not going to matter all that much. SWG did not have enough people playing to fill the servers they had..not even close.

This is not about being an elitist .. it is about being realistic.

You sir, are an idiot.  No one who plays this game has lost touch with reality, we want to save it because its a great game.  I can see I wasted my time here, all you morons have a great day and thanks for the no show of support.  I think I represented myself well in my postings about why it was worth saving and it fell upon deaf ears.

and you have no clue wtf you are talking about. I play SWG and have since feb 2004 off and on. For the last 7 months or so it is all I have played. You have learned nothing about SOE and LA over the years. Nothing at all.

You and your petition signers have lost touch with reality. The reality that this has all been tried before. Hell we had way more people sign and something like 200k subs left and they still did not listen or care. I can not and will not support a bunch of fools that have learned nothing from the history of this game and the companies involved.

You all act as if someone has died.  Think about this. You paid and you played. That was the deal. Now the deal is going to end and you just can not accept that. You can not accept that your little fantasy land is going to be shut down never to see the light of day again. Does it suck? Sure it does. Can you change it? Nope.

You represented yourself as a whining child that just had his/her favorite toy taken away.  They did not lie to you or mislead you in any way. They gave you 6 months notice. Instead of being grateful you didn't get the normal SOE treatment you get all emotional and cry about how we did not support you. We just know that it is a useless waste of time.

Just let SWG finally be buried. It died when the NGE was implemented, SOE and Lucasarts have just been keeping it alive as a zombie all these years which is cruel and unusual punishment.

  • Paradigm68Paradigm68 Member UncommonPosts: 890

I already signed the petittion to have SWG taken out behind the chemical sheds...

  • darker70darker70 Member UncommonPosts: 804

This game died years ago i missed all the fuss as i was deep into Eve at the time, just recently tried the SWG-emu and now can see what the fuss was about it may have had it's faults but it truly was a liveing breathing universe and i could only try a fraction of it !!

So your best hope is the various emu teams and maybe one day u can relive those halicon days and this time Sony can not rip apart one of the legends of the Mo world again. As for the petition forget it Sony had this intention all along their contract with Lucus Arts is nearly up,their player base will flock to TOR Sony has no concern for it's users just corparate greed they make a product then slowly grind out money until they kill it,then plough cash into another poor project dare i mention DC Online image

I won't sign, but I have a shovel ... we can hit it over the head on Decemeber 15th then dig a hole and dump the POS in.

  • dirtyd77dirtyd77 Member UncommonPosts: 383

on a side note. I think I will resub before the deadline so I can see what they do on the final days of special events they have planned.

I signed the petition, though I think it will do no good at this point...  I never want to see peoples games taken away from them. We are all gamers if some one enjoys a game, I hope they get to play it for as long as they can.

Ok, i'll help for the Baseball illiterate and Euro dudes with a Football/Soccer interpretation.

SWG,for me will always be that one MMO that was almost like a winning goal it had the height,it had the distance but right before it hit the back of the net it hit the crossbar and bounced into the stands for a corner.

Sony is a terrible with MMOs, thy should give up on them. Maybe they'll the game contents for some extra cash and the new own might try to start the game again, u never know.

I hate to see anyone lose a beloved game, but petitions aren't going to save an MMO I am afraid. My best hope for the SWG fans is that another game rises to their exdpectations and is awarded with such a devoted following. (no, I am not talking with a specific game in mind at this time).

parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better.

Might be a lost cause but I signed it...

With TOR coming out soon this is completely pointless. Who is going to want to play SWG when TOR is released?

  • CujoSWAoACujoSWAoA Member UncommonPosts: 1,781

People who prefer a game set in the real star wars timeline.

  • EvelknievelEvelknievel Member UncommonPosts: 2,964

This is not a kick in the ball's to the fans that stayed around after the NGE was implemented, but you folks should of seen this coming. Believe me, I tried coming back a few times after NGE was implemented, however to me it was a POS and I wasn't going to pay $14.99 a month on a game that I know longer recognized or enjoyed.

Am I sad to see it go, well, back in 2005 is when my SWG died after the so many hours and hours of game play, but SOE should of just stayed with the same formula and not even bring in NGE. SWG may still be around in full force even with TOR around the corner if NGE wasn't brought in.

NGE was the nail in the coffee for all PreCU players and NGE players. Now I can say, it sucks doesn't it, when they take your game away.

I will opt myself to see the end of SWG December 15th, I maybe able to catch some old friends online that I lost contact with throughout the years and get to say FU Smed one last time in the SWG Universe.

you arent wrong.. but sadly.. its not enough, the flaws of the game totally outweigh all other considerations.. if that was all it took, then SWG wouldnt have been in this position in the first place....  SW:TOR isnt going to revive Starwars though.. its pretty much unrelated to the whole Starwars concept..  it is after all based on Kotor etc... which is almost an alternate universe to the Starwars saga... image

That should of been a fairly big indicator to you that a petition will not change the fact that Lucas has dumped the contract and is moving on.

In case you dont have the link: http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/24/exclusive-smedley-on-the-sunsetting-of-star-wars-galaxies/

Actually he does not say "No", what he says exactly is "At this point, unfortunately, this is just the way it is happening" which indicates things could change and there could be another point in time

Both SOE and LA said that the 2 games could co-exist, and now they are going back on their word. The lies are still carrying on This now makes TOR and its future shaky. I do not want to go through hell and back again.

I am certainly not subbing to another SOE game again, and I was looking forrward to SWTOR but now may not bother with that either. LA is the root of evil, not SOE, in regards to SWG, and LA will be a part of SWTOR. SOE can do a good game as proven with EQ2. Not perfect, but compared to SWG it is, as don't have LA pulling their strings

If they reverse their decision and give SWG and SWTOR a chance to run side by side, then my faith in LA will be restored. This is the reason I hope the petition will work, not for SWG, but for SWTOR and its future. The cancelling of SWG and launching of SWTOR is based on lies, and have fears of SWG history repeating in SWTOR.

It could be SOE not willing to renew the contract, but loads of money has altready been spent on SWTOR, a bit more to keep SWG active for at least 1 more year, will keep their reputations intact.

  • Night_HawkeNight_Hawke Member Posts: 41

personally, a petition won't work. this isn't about subscriber counts or dedicated following. SOE is losing its IP license at the end of this year. LA will not renew they are throwing 100% market force behind TOR. This means SOE has to shutdown SWG no matter what. LA will not want ot have 2 Star Wars MMO's they want everyone to play one. I would love to see SWG stick around personally i don't think it will compete directly with TOR but LA believes it can damage the success of TOR and for that reason alone SWG is dead.
