Exactly what I think. When I saw it was an ele I was "aaah, crap, gimme an awesomeclass for showing stuff" But now, I think I might roll ele sooner than I had originally planed.
First time i seen combat in this game it looks very amamzing

Cool vid even though the RPGer in me tells me that a fire ele under water isn't the ultimate combo.
But yes, it is cool that the skills change underwater.
I agree, but the fire goes out quickly and starts boiling the water thou, guess that kinda makes up for it? Pretty awesome. Besides, anything is possible with a bit of magic you know
I feel this has to be said...since the first demo, a LOT of things have changed in the land combat. Here are a few things I have noticed starting with the visuals.
the first demos had the best fire effects for attacks in an MMO that I have seen...period. They have been improved a lot since then. Most of it, I think, was making the effects fit the paiterly feel of the game better.
those offhand dagger skills also look new, and that shield looks fun. Visually, the shield looks fantastic.
the basic attack for dagger changed after the first demo so that there were less lines of fire going out. it looks like the range got decreased or something as well. More importantly, when used at close range, they all hit your target. It did not do that before. they also seemed to go through your target in previous demos. Good change. great at close range.
the firebreathing skill, in the first demo would lock to the direction you started it in and you could run around and breat fire in that same direction. Now it points in front of you. Thank you Anet. This was bugging me SOOOO much.
divng into the fray and trailing fire is a lot better than exiting the fray and trailing fire imo. good change.
Underwater, the fire skills have great animations. I also think that the underwater ele is far more interesting than the underwater necro, no0t that the necro isn't cool and interesting. This may change my first class to the ele.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
Fire under water turns the water into boiling water and steam!
Brilliant move by anet IMO. Because fireballs and flame under water don't make much sense. Steam and boiling water on the other hand does.
I also like how the fireball she shoots out stops in the middle of the water and then cools and turns into a black rock. Super freakin awesome man. I wonder what water magic looks like underwater? Perhaps strong water currents? Conjuring ice spikes and then fireing them like projectiles? Can't freaking wait man!
This probably speaks more to us late 20's early 30's forum members, but do you guys remember when you were kids and there was a game either coming out soon, or you were waiting to get it on your birthday or you saved enough allowance? All you'd do is read the review about it in Nintendo Power over and over again, counting down the days until you had it.
These videos are like that for me. Except we can't start a damned countdown yet!!
P.S. The artwork for the skills in the skillbar is really good.
Definitely looked fun and engaging. I wonder why that ele didn't bother switching attunements at all.

Well she was a caster class, which is meant to be a little squishy. That's why she took that shield spell for soloing and used her healing utility spell a couple of times. I'm assuming she had a few more CC abilities in her other attunements as well as additional healing abilities under the water attunement. Overall I thought the combat looked perfectly dangerous: engaging enough that she had to make near full use of her arsenal to stay alive, while still generating a moderate sense of power.
I didn't notice the 7-9 buttons (the profession/race abilities) being used at all though. Any ideas why?
Actually we just found out that Necromancer undead minions can swim, apparently they do a doggy-paddle.
That's cute in a very disturbing way! Obviously they don't need to breathe but I wonder if these minions were summoned using a skill above the water or below. It would be nice to see an underwater minion.
Did you guys notice how under the mob's life bar it said things like Regenerates Health and Teleports? This may have been discussed before, but I hadn't seen it. I wonder if as you fight you start to build a sort of bestiary knowledge base?
fire spells under water? shouldn't that be weak as hell?
GO WATER ATTUNEMENT!!!!!
plus what a fail at 0:07 he completely missed the target xD the fire didn't even go half the distance :P
The fire spells work like boiling water and steam instead of flame underwater. Like if you look at skill slot two when she goes underwater it changes to a new skill icon that shows red bubbles. And when she uses the skill it causes the water around the area that she casted it to begin boiling doing area damage. Boiling water is a great way to use fire magic underwater and it's very realistic.

Hahaha, the magma ball acts like a grenade!
So... wonderful! *cries* I can't take it anymore! Stop teasing me and release that damn game. T_T I've been waiting for years.
I want to reborn as a Sylvari.

The best video of Gw2 I've seen so far
Curiosity got the best of me and I clicked the link.. FUUUUUU. I need to find a rock to crawl under until this game releases
Will cure cancer, bring happiness to the world etc etc etc.
